We are aware of the issue. Attempted fixes have not done the job so far, so we've removed the participation requirements for the new items. We are continuing to work on a fix.

I can understand that there are problems to fix the whole problem, but currently I'm not sure why a undo to the pre patch version for this part of STO is currently not a possible solution as it worked in e.g. 95% of the cases correctly.

Wouldn't it be much easier, and less draining on your time/resources, if you say.... stop breaking things that are working to begin with?

I mean really, that's all team PWE knows how to do anymore, build upside down pyramids on top of working code until the base shatters sending out bugs by the metric ton.

Might want to start using the two test servers for actual... I don't know... TESTING and BUG FIXES maybe...

We reject your fix of breaking it even further and substitute our own of not playing your game until ALL bugs are fixed.

has there been any word on the random crashing that people are getting, which is keeping us from playing at all?

That you'll have to sort out in technical support. It sounds like a problem with the whole game and/or your computer, not ToI.

If you're holding out for all bugs to be fixed, you won't be playing for a LONG time. Think "forever." ;)

Games that get frequent updates have bugs, period. Sometimes they even have bugs that never appeared during testing but appeared as soon as the update went live. It's not as simple as just going in and fixing all the bugs. Code has a mind of its own.

It's frustrating not to be awarded the completion credit. I'm not getting it either. But it will be fixed, and there is still plenty of time to finish the accolade.

You're right. It seems like a memory issue, but this is the only game doing it, and it's not just me suffering from it. Initially, it seemed like the tides is what caused it, but it's any combat, and still just randomly. Tossing the game into windowed mode, you can have the task manager running and see where it spikes before crashing. Either way, very frustrating. Hopefully they fix it, as well as the sudden failing/disappearing of tides, because that was making it impossible to get the gear.

Also, thank you for dropping the grind restriction for the gear as well. I wouldn't have been able to get the needed warp core otherwise. I'll take my crashing issue to the other threads though, just so it's not detracting from the other issues Tides is having.

How true. STO's code is on the scale of ten gigabytes in length. To give people an idea of just how much code that is, if it were printed out as plaintext at a typical font size, it would be about a quarter of a MILLION pages long--about as long as a dozen full encyclopedia sets. Try reading through all of THAT for a couple of typos, and you'll see why debugging takes so much labor.

most of that 10+ gb is assets such as textures, models and especially voices and music, not code.

i don't think anything that would have 10 gb of pure code exists. coding that would take several decades.
Now clowns, that's another story. They scare the crap out of me.
We fight them too. Entire armies spilling out of Volkswagens.
We do our best to fight them off, but they keep sending them in.

I've noticed that Tides of Ice has been made easier now since the recent server maintenance with small patch.

There was hardly many Assimulated Snowmen at all when I went there yesterday. I've noticed that there is an option to join "Tides of Ice" instead of arriving and joining that way.

I've not found a way to earn any Q's Glossy Autographs yet.

Plus I have lost a lot of Vulcan Candles since the update. I noticed that I was compensated with an alternative event item. Which I had loads of Sleigh ropes (if thats what its called). Not very happy.
