I play KDF almost exclusively. The only time I break out the feds is when there's a dil event, ad I transfer all that to my Klinks. Maybe Cryptic is still gun-shy about the Bortas'qu fiasco, and afraid to make new ships. The new raptor and Intel cruiser, they're really nice, even though I'd have liked to see active sensors included with the matHa, to keep it on par with the Phantom, but its not a big issue. If Cryptic would make some ships for the KDF, be them Klingon, Gorn, Ferasan, Orion, ect, people *would* buy them. A Ferasan HEC, a new Gorn sci ship, a full on Orion carrier... Until then we'll have to make due with lock box ships.

[QUOTE=protogoth;20984191 When the time arrives at which I do have everything available in the C-store which is aimed at RRF players, if nothing new has been added for RRF toons, what do you think will happen to my spending? You don't have to be Einstein to solve for x here. If I have everything, I don't have to buy anything else. Now, obviously, there are still Master Keys and Ship Upgrades and Costume Slots and assorted other items, but the supposedly big money items, which are ships, will all be purchased, so my spending will almost certainly decrease. Not only is the acquiescence to / perpetuation of this situation by the company illogical, it doesn't even make good business sense![/QUOTE]

Of course you don't buy anything more if you already have everything.
But that is not what Cryptic, as a business, calculates. it calculates how well an individual ship sells. Every ship costs a certain amount of money. They can then see how many people buy it, and how much money it made them. And if a Romulan ship makes just 75 % less money on average than a Federation ship, the Federation ship is the better choice. That is "good business sense" - why miss out on 25 % of the potential money?

There are factors that can improve the situation and make it less "hopeless". There are really a lot of Federation ships. AT some point people are "exhausted", so to speak - they just bought a new Federation ship and don't need yet another one. Now is the opportunity for a Romulan ship, because for the moment, Federation ships will not generate those sales.

And if would go by the Delta Rising Operation packs - a good ratio for Cryptic may be 2 Klingon and Romulan ships per 5 Federation ships. Maybe it's even 2 to 6, considering that the Pathfinder was released shortly thereafter. Maybe it's even worse, and them only reason we got Romulan and Klingon ships is because game design required KDF and Romulans to also have some Intel capability, and they feared the backlash of releasing a Fed only ship.

Complete factional parity will never happen, in my opinion.

But there are things that are badly needed, like quality of life improvements and a more well-rounded ship selection.

.. once again, the KDF gets shafted, this time by the Delta pack. And the Romulans , too by the way. The Feds get 5 new ships, and the KDF and Roms get.. 2. And not a science ship among them. The KDF has two sci ships ( 3 of you count carriers) total, and none T6. How about releasing one sci -specific ship, one Rom, one KDF. I wouldn't mind seeing the Intel abilities on the new raptor, either.

I broke down and spent my dil from the mirror event on the raptor. Its not bad -- the intel cloud debuff skill is useful and a 5 fore weapon 5 tac console ship is always going to have decent performance. We may only have 2 ships but the raptor is "better than most".

We do need more t6 ships. Hopefully that is coming before christmas... we can't buy what is not there for sale...

The DR pack is total garbage if you are not a fed. I mean, consider that alts are effectively dead due to slow specialize tree points / upgrade costs. If you accept that to be mostly true, then buying the pack for 2 ships is wasted money for a kdf or rom main player. Even a fed player would be hard pressed to justify it... the ships are not suited to one character to use them all, either you fly a sci ship or you do not, for example ... very few players want a tank, sci ship, and escort all on their 1 and only main ? Waste of money for the vast majority of players. Ironically, the casuals would get most from it, running multiple alts that are not worried about earning a full specialize tree etc.

The horse is undead, so you need to beat it in the head to kill it. Klinks are a throwaway faction. Cryptic doesn't understand why they need 2 factions in the game.

Easy solution would be to combine klinks and Feds and make Roms the "bad guys". Enough people have Romulan "Mains" that you would now have 2 full faction populations...
