I was just curious...how strong could you make the first ship you got in this game? I don't actually even still have my original ship, but if you're a Level 50 and took the best kit from your current ship, do you think you could make your original one a contender in PvP, PvE, one of the episodes, etc?
A good proportion of older players will likely have the constitution as their starting vessel over the Miranda and that is not too bad at end game. I know I have used it in the Dyson sphere once or twice and survived. The good thing about this ship is that both the hull and weapons scale to your level..
A couple weeks ago I kitted out my Miranda for the lulz and took it into a private queue of Starbase 24 so I could mess around for as long as I wanted. It probably wasn't the best possible build but I was pulling an average of 2-4k DPS using a romulan hyperplasma torpedo spam build. I parsed it up to 12k spike damage once which was nifty. I also brought a bunch of other gear in my inventory to swap out and try different builds and it was usually about the same DPS. There are probably better ways to use it that others can point out to you but I am simultaneously gleeful and depressed that I can pull more DPS in a Miranda than some people can pull in a full T5 starship. The hull was really weak though and as you know the Klingons just love to fire their own photon spam and isometric charges so I died a lot because they're in dense clumps in SB24. I could take on up to 3 Neghvars simultaneously with careful piloting to avoid their forward and aft torpedo arcs and their deflector abilities but anything more than that was really dangerous.
Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.
If you min-maxxed every element and flew perfect, you could do 4-6k out of a T1, but 2-4k would be more typical.
For reference, up to 5k DPS matches about half of STO players in T5s.
Most current Elite PvE is doable in T1s (some are even puggable, but none are recommendable to pug in a T1 ship) however DR will change that to make it impossible on lack of damage grounds.
If I didn't know I would cause some panic in other people, I'd be up to putting good gear in the Miranda and go for a normal STF.
This. I have the TOS Connie and put the borg set on it just for giggles. I went into a normal STF with it loaded with the highest level gear I could. I had basically no bridge powers and wasn't doing the greatest amount of damage.
I don't know what was more fun- trying to stay alive or listening to the nerd rage coming from the scimitar captain.
Dosen't mean that their ships were better... Just that the others were worse at playing the game.
Still... you have to admit, when you play STFs, and you see some guy in an ISE get killed in less than 5 seconds by the first Borg Cube while flying some fancy ship with fancy weapons with fancy traits... it's funny as hell. It brings joy to my gaming heart.

Assuming you went for ISE (being the easiest ESTF) a Scim has been shown by loads of players to be able to solo the map - you should have told him he was underperforming if a T1 ship is able to draw aggro beside him.
I would encourage the OP and anyone else to grab a T1 and just give it a go if you want to. It might be a waste of time, but it might also be good fun.
I started this game before free to play with the old enterprise retail pack. I still start my new toons with it.
Me, too. I am interested in trying the NX buuuut I hate Alting. (>_>)
On topic, you can play the Start Ships at Endgame. As was previously stated, you can run STFs with them. It just won't be easy. How well they do at endgame depends more on the player than the ship.
Just because you can race on a Formula 1 track in a Fiat Punto, dosen't mean you will be even close to the 1'st place.
well thats simple then, put some sticker blacks on, adjust the suspension to be more compliant, adjust the packers, adjust the wings, tune up the brakes, change to a better grade fuel and chuck out the heavy seats, strap on a racing seat and strap up. your going for a ride .
i was in the process of running up a toon my my original t1 starter ship with different parts, made captain rank so far without issue, but shields are crucial factor in surviving a direct attack, so keep them upgraded as soon as possible. i suspect you could make it to vice admiral, i wanna try make my t1 ship last to level 60, im seriously gonna try xD.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
I managed to do a few delta patrols in my TOS Connie

It has been years since I was here last. Thought I would pop in and see what has changed.
Last time I was here I had a TOS Connie and a NX-01 max level was around 45. From the looks of things this place has grown a lot.

Still waiting to be able to use forum titles

Well, they were at least 2nd and survived longer than T5 ships

you are just cranky that Cryptic isn't releasing a T5 Constitution.. so you could show the noobs how it's done :P:P:P
Being able to viably run endgame content in a T1 is a great answer to that question.
For reference, up to 5k DPS matches about half of STO players in T5s.

Thus proving that good, knowledgeable players in low tier vessels can complete the run and put out some hurt.
But, I will add that not everybody can pull it off.
Average to poor players would be safer in higher tier ships in STFs.

Parsed at 4.1k, good for 3/5. The highest in that pug was 14k+, the lowest around 2.8k.
The tac cube came in at ~5.5k
Fixes that for you since they are likely to start wanting that now.
I never claimed I was breaking records over here.

Ignore the critics, play how you want.

I was thinking of trying this with the TOS Romulan Warbird you start off with. Would it fare better since it has the battle cloak?
