X-Fi sound issues, no voices

I installed STO when I was just using my onboard Realtek HD audio from the motherboard and then I tossed in my X-FI FATAL1TY PCIE with front (5 1/4 bay) control and now STO is having audio issues that I did not have with my on board audio.

I have lost all the in game voices even though the volume for the voices are on max and while in combat the sound of the beams firing is a little distorted.

Current X-FI settings are;
SVM: On
Game mode: On
CMSS-3D: Off
Crystalizer: Off
Speaker: 5.1 Surround

Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit.

I haven't used a sound card myself but a few things I would just like to ask that may help:
(Either you, me, or anyone else attempting to help you understand a few things.)

    1. Is it installed with the ports showing via the back of the computer similar to how the ports for a graphics card would be? (Just a curious question for better understanding.)

    2. Are you sure its correctly installed with any and all drivers/software updated?

    3. While the sound card is installed in the computer, if you use the normal jack ports does it work as you had it before you installed the sound card? (This would be to check if the sound card is causing an actual issue with how its installed or communicates with the other devices.)

    1. Yes the ports stick out of the machine
    2. Yes it is installed correctly. (I build systems soo yeaaaah.. ;) )
    3. If your asking if the speakers are plugged in to the correct port, yes they are. I only have this issue with STO.

For #3 I was asking if you use the default jack slots instead of using your jack slots for the sound card does it play good while the sound card is still installed.

    Sorry for the confusion.

    Edit:
So it works all fine if you play another game?

Make sure the volume settings in-game under the Audio tab of Options is up high enough for each, also make sure your Output device is correct. The game might be trying to play it through a different device.

OMG! Biggest face palm moment! I plugged the speakers in to the wrong hole. LOL
I plugged it in to the grey jack, not the green one. :P

=P Sometimes the simplest things are what we get wrong and the complex stuff right.

Complain to Creative for making the green and the grey jacks to close in color. :P
