Shut down the Server

As the Title says ..


What would you do if Criptic shut down the server ?

Would you miss STO .. honestly ?

    I have a rule, never take a game more seriously than the devs. If they dont care about repeat customers, the best tactical position is not to care if they go under.

    actually hardly due to i have lil time to log on at all :D:(.

    in the long run for sure, i'd miss it (and all u dudes :))! it's trek, at least the look.

    I have dozens of games and other activities I can move to so I may miss STO a bit....but only until I get my teeth in to something else. Only last night I bought 'Five Nights at Freddy's 1 and 2' and the day before Star Trek the video game (steam sale so spent as little as possible). I could even quite happily go back to the likes of Final Fantasy 7 and do a completion game and I've wanted to go and get 10 star for Silent Hill 3 and do the 12hr challenge for Final Fantasy 9.

    Basically it wouldn't take me long at all to miss STO.

    I'd miss it a lot of course, but at least now i have a group of friends, my fleet, will continue to play with them wherever will decide to play :P

    And btw, stop opening these doooooomm it's over - like thread lol :D

    I would miss it because it's Star Trek and I've invested so much time into my main toon. Really though if it wasn't Trek, pfft, I would have voted to flush it down the toilet a while ago.

    Hooray for Civ Beyond Earth and the X-Wing / TIE Fighter revamps though!

    you referring to the versions of them now available on good old games? if so, i'd hardly call modifying the base code just enough to make them work properly on newer operating systems a 'revamp', unless i missed something and they did far more than that

    I will miss the days of the old PvP where it was us vs them, but not the recent PvP since the Dev's decides to make PvP into a Copy & Paste Cross-Faction mess... which i did said b4 the changes where made, ''that Cryptic making Cross Factions PvP is a excuse for them not to further update PvP in the future'', some argued that the Dev's is finally looking into PvP and will put more updates soon after... which later in the end i was right, nothing still have changed for PvP except for a few new shinny toys.

    will i miss the game now if the STO server shuts down... no not really, the Dev's is still drving this game towards a direction that will lead this game into it's end... more & more-Grind, Pro-Fed bias, Anti-PvP stance, etc... The thing i will miss the most will be the STO PvP community, from KDF comrades to Federation foes, players like Gorn of the Dead, Minimax, Zac, Dank, Link/Zelda, Anubis, Deadpool, Augment, Edna, Vex (remeber i 1 hit destroyed u with my torp spread when u were trying to recloak ^_^), Scimitard players :D, Kax, and even evul Feddie Sally which i had always destroyed him without him ever killing me ^_^, and many more.

    I've always thought this game have great potential, but after seeing how DR is going and the Dev's neglecting PvP for almost 5 years... the future looks dimmed for this game.

    Miss game - no, pvp is ruined as it is and im already lacking motivation to log in

    Hrmm, would probably run Gratuitous Space Battles on one monitor while reading some of the political discussions at HubPages...

    ...or maybe watch more stuff on Netflix - been doing more and more of that anyway.

    As for missing it, I don't know - I miss a bunch of games and don't miss a bunch of games. I'm not sure STO would fit into my missed games category. I miss Shadowbane, I miss City of Heroes, I miss Star Wars Galaxies, I miss Earth and Beyond, I miss Auto Assault...I'm not sure STO ranks enough to be missed.

    What do you mean if the Server goes down? I get a Server Not Responding message every 50 seconds to 3 minutes and I have only been playing the game for 12 days as a new customer.

    I really enjoy what I have seen so far. The Content, Graphics, Writing, Music and Gameplay are all magnificently realized but the game is virtually unplayable with all these disconnects.

    I was planning on taking advantage of the November Lifetime Subscription special but who wants to pay that kind of money for something they can only play on a good server day? Such an amazing game too.

    Last months simply no fun in Sto anymore - always the same.. grinding and all..
    Just stayed because of some good friends here.

    The only thing stayed for doesn't really exist anymore. (PvP)

    i don't know where the E&B one is, but the galaxies one was really coming along last time i looked into it; they had just about everything done except the jump to lightspeed stuff...and the NGE stuff, for obvious reasons

    There are several games that have been...they're just not my thing to do the various projects. But yeah, for folks open to those things - if there is a game they miss, they should take a look around to see if there's a project out there that might interest them.

    Hey maybe if the license gets pulled and STO does shut down we can have someone run their own pre-DR server.
