i always thought the forum was here for open & honest discussion with people with opposing views, otherwise there is no discussion at all just endless rant.
and yet it is amazing when posters start a thread with a positive slant that loads of posters chime in with opposing views.
Well forums basically work to where if you have views opposing the op then you shall be insulted. There are exceptions though.
so let me get this strait, the new forum rule is i cannot post a positive comment or disagree with negative comments without finding an alternative thread that has a positive view on the same subject.
right, it sure helps a lot to know the forum rules & regulations.
Ehh they are just immature, even the title is immature. It's all self serving, non constructive complaining. "I liked your game so much I recommended it to my friends, but I am going to ignore all the fun I had and am now I'm just interested in burning it all down." - 90% of forum trolls.
i am not trying to push anyones buttons or wind them up, i am just stating the facts as i see them, if people cant bear for anyone to possibly disagree with their view they should not be posting on an open forum in the first place.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

I think a open & honest discussion could be very productive but their is a limit when its not a discussion anymore but more of a flame war. I am not taking side cause I am sure no one is innocent in all this.

i`m not trying to start a flame war, this all started because i had the cheek to make one positive comment of the way i enjoy the game an got accused of being like a battered wife for my honest opinion.

The flame war was started before you got here, it has just been encouraged and influenced by people who have been complaining at everything they could possibly complain about. People that should have been banned a long time ago keep hidden in the grey area in the forum rules, and thus promote anarchy, and exaggeration of every cryptic bug, hack, and exploit. We are after all in one of the basement dwellers HQs.

i only come to the forums when i cant access the game and want to pass a bit of time and keep abreast of the state of play.
i know the games not perfect but as mmo games go its the only one that keeps me coming back for more day in day out for the 3 years i have been playing.
everyone is entitled to their own view of things and there may be parts that one player will enjoy that another does not.
it is only natural for somone who enjoyes a certain thing to express their view.
i might not agree with that view but i certainly will not trash or insult the person for having that view.
sadly most of the other posters in this thread seem to do just that.

then you should of skipped passed that comment and stayed on topic for the most part. I was even agreeing with that it was a better deal then buying ships all by themselves in my mind. not sure I agree with you that they are worth it. sure my comment to clear your confusion on what he meant by battered wife wasn't helping but starting off with " your loss " a direct attack when people are on edge then using the word uninstall was kind of a taboo word when you know it would it get a negative reaction when people don't really want to uninstall , they just want the dev's to see they have a problem with what they did. guess I also might be a little understanding cause I felt the same way about swg and you see what happen to it.
he is right to say this. with people on edge they are looking for a war in every thread. me I am just bored and my 6 weeks old kid wont take a nap and I thought it was funny to comment on the op's post cause I could relate. best thing to do is let people vent , their isn't anything you can say that would change their minds just cause's more problems.

Are we defiling your precious piece of polished trd with ST logo on it?
I agree with a lot of what the OP is saying, but your aggressive, demeaning, and dismissive attitude towards bobbydazlers is uncalled for and out of order.

They lose their minds and spew out all kind of poison like "white Knight ""abused wife "and all the other cliches that they do to try and make everyone as miserable as they are. Oh and play on gateway first before here :P
your loss, the DR bundle is awesome and great value for money, i would recommend it to anyone.
This is something I'll just never understand. How is it, that no matter what it is, $125 is a 'great value'. That $125 is restricted to this game only, STO.
If I told someone, hey, I just spent $125 on a game, they'd look at me as if I need professional help. That's the cost to spend on just under two new triple A titled games. No offense to STO, but I don't consider it a triple A titled game and you spent $125 on it.
This isn't something that is exclusive to STO of course, this is with most F2P MMO style games, where people will spend $200+ and say it's a 'great value' of whatever it is. It's no wonder so many companies are starting to flock to F2P models.
Retired. I'm now in search for that perfect space anomaly.
This thread is insane. Liking a video game and continuing to play it is the literal equivalent to being a physically and emotionally abused woman staying in a relationship with a husband that beats her? Jesus Christ, get some perspective. This is pathetic. You have lost all connection with reality at this point.

when you consider what some people spend in game over the course of time $125 is not such a biggie.
lifetime sub is $300 and monthly sub for 1000 days is a fair bit more then that in total, the dyson mega pack was $100 for 9 T5 ships and if you bought them in packs of three quite a bit more and even more again if you bought them individually.
if we assume a player has at least one character from each of the three factions and he buys a T6 ship for each of his factions at $30 thats $90 if we also assume that he buys intel ships he will also be wanting to buy the intel Boff pack and he may well even buy a doff pack, if we also assume that he also has at least 3 T5 ships he wishes to upgrade he may well spend another $20 on upgrade modules.
the player has now spent more then $125 then he would have paid for the DR pack but he didnt get the 2 uniforms, the weapons upgrade modules and 6 more T6 ships.
thats why i say its good value.
i will also add that a lot of people spend far more then this on movie dvd`s or off line pc games none of wich will give ongoing entertainment on a daily basis for over 3 years and still going strong.
i know a guy who has spent literally 1000`s on dvd`s & now blue ray movies and he`s always moaning he has nothing to watch.

I have to agree with this, anyone that has been in a real abusive relationship, would know the difference.
With LoR, I was happy to support cryptic. I was waiting for the Romulans, and they added a great expansion to the game. The story was awesome, and there was a lot of innovation and content.
With DR, I am happy to NOT support them. The expansion is shallow, full of cheap content like "story" patrol, level gap, etc... and cash grabs. It's some memorial to the grind.
Sorry cryptic, but until you do something right again, my money is better spent elsewhere. I know they doesn't care, but I don't do that to prove my point or something anyway.
your loss, the DR bundle is awesome and great value for money, i would recommend it to anyone.
the 9 ships within make this good value when compared to single ship prices but with the added value of the uniform and reclaimable boff & doff packs for every character you have the value is amazing.
if you have a character from every faction and you were to buy one T6 ship for each that would very nearly cover the price of the full pack before you even look at all the extra stuff you get.
if you want to listen to the wingers who cant wait to get all the best gear without coughing up cash thats up to you, i am quite content to upgrade stuff as and when i feel like it and have saved enough dilithium from normal gameplay to cover the cost, i quite happy to play as normal even if it takes me a year or more to accomplish my goal.
Sorry, but as a person that plays a lot of videogames and participates in Steam and GoG.com sales on regular basis, I have to say that 125 bucks for 7 ships ingame... is a lot.
I understand it's standard in comparison to other MMOs, but it's still a lot of money.
For 125 bucks you can get yourself a literal ****load of AAA titles on Steam Sales, or you can just swarm you account with good video-game classics on GoG.com.
As a university student in a country with a horribly low wages, the question "Should I buy the DR pack" was put in my head only twice. For the first time the answer was "Nah, I'll get a lot of games in steam sale for that money", the second time "Well, university just screwed me over, and I need to buy meds as I'm sick so I don't even have this much money".
Just trying to put things into perspective here.
Apart from that, I'd like to point out that... well... The game is in very, very bad shape at the moment. Delta Rising was a disappointment for a lot of people, and then you have to add to that very poorly handled matters recently. These issues cause a lot of question and a lot of reasonable and unreasonable rage.

This is exactly my stance on how I feel about the whole thing.
I have a library of 30 GOG.com games which totals approx. $35-40. Mind you, some of which are AAA titles but are much older now, but they still hold their value in terms of video game entertainment, which is exactly what I compare it to.
Regardless, it's still much, much cheaper to go a buy a brand new AAA title which has spent millions in development. Again, I just fail to see the value in $125 in, well, anything in this game.
Retired. I'm now in search for that perfect space anomaly.
I'd have to say the DR expansion has been pretty astonishing. Think for a moment. this is a game expansion with the level cap going up by 10, 20%!, with two new levels of loot, MK13/14.
and ... there are ... _no_ new loot drops, MK13/14 doesn't drop. not even white gear!. We are simply expected to very expensively (buy dilithium and bits and ec) to upgrade all our old gear.
that, is incredible, really really incredible.
if that doesn't at least make you feel taken for granted as a customer, if not a bit battered
