No cryptic doesnt have the time to answer everything. They have jobs.
They do not have time to answer everything no, but a simple post to inform the community that an issue such as this would be nice. It would stop the need for 8 posts about it and the spread of 3 different rumors as to why/how it happened.
A devs job is development of the game. They make mechanics, Hardpoints, graphics, Enviroments.
What YOU are talking about is Marketing / PR people... The CM's aren't devs.
It's ok... It's a common misconception appearently.
No. I'm talking about what I'm talking about. The Community Manager. You know, the guy who's job it is to have his finger on the pulse of what's going on in the game and come in to the community to stop rabid hysteria, paranoia, and rage.
I'm talking about the community management team (sometimes called the social media team), who interact with the devs on hot button issues so they can disseminate accurate information and dispell rumors.
What YOU are talking about are programmers on the dev team.

It's ok...It's a common misconception apparently.
Except, you are confusing Cryptic employees with PWE employees.
The ones at cryptic work on the game, while the CM's work for PWE. Just Like BranFlakes used to.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...

Yes has has been busy discussing bugs today. Sadly no one has taken a moment to show acknowledgment on and cut off rumors on a bug that has obviously been experienced by many players. A bug that we do not know yet if it will happen again when people gain more specialization points.

Chances are they are sweating trying to find the issue, before they go in and talk about it.
As a webdeveloper (not quite the same thing, but similar), I often run into issues that require me to find the cause fast... When that happens, I rarely give a rats butt about all the emails and demands for answers, cause they will always slow me down, hence preventing me from finding and solving the problem in the first place.
And yes, that has often resulted in me being called to the bosses office, but usually he ends up agreeing with me that ignoring the phone was a good call... (pun intended).

I have been there as well. I have done side Developer work for private gaming communities and know that it requires fast and immediate attention, but a quick post about it being known and setting up one main bug thread for the issue or shooting a quick email to a Community Manager telling them to inform everyone that it is a known issue and to make a main bug thread wouldn't take them more than 2-3 minutes tops. Plus most developers are masters at multitasking.

Also been on the dev and the community side of it as a moderator for multiple games. People are talking like it's just impossible for the poor devs and community team to keep the public informed. It's not.
They don't have to go in and post long detailed logs about every dot and tittle they're changing. The moderators are supposed to moderate. Poor oil on troubled waters. The community manager is responsible for getting at least passable answers from the programmers and designing teams, (i.e. "We're working on it, we have no idea, fixed soon, here's the info we need" etc.) and getting the rest of the community moderators to get out there and keep people calm.
Especially, especially, especially after a huge update, patch, crash, bug, or other event.
This is SOP. The reason people expect it from Cryptic and PWE is because so many other gaming companies operate that way.

Frost often (but not always) acknowledges bug posts. Even if they can't do anything yet he will sometimes say it's been confirmed or will ask for some specific info lime character names etc.
Pretty sure that post I linked says that they identified a small number of users that really used the exploit and took action. I'm guessing that is why people lost the points. It matches up.

Except some folks are saying they lost points and have never flown ship in Japori (where the issue was), or run any mission on Elite.
It does not match up.
It does match up as a bug because they mucked about with the spec tree.
Comments
For the skill point issue? Linky? Can't find anything regarding this problem.
Others, yes. This one, no.
Op edited his post to be more specific.
No cryptic doesnt have the time to answer everything. They have jobs.
Uh, yeah. And some of those jobs are community management. Like for, say, the community manager.
They just released a huge patch after a terrible series of PR decisions. They need to man the gates.
That IS their job.

Ok, let's point all of this at Cryptic/PWE/Arc, whatever, instead of at each other please.

Now shaddup about the queues, it's a BUG

So it is a reasonable request from the op.

That's regarding the dilithium exploit, not the bug stripping players of skill points. Also while she is awesome, trendy is not a developer.
Keeping it mature. All the way.

Indeed. I'm beginnig to wish branflakes were back.
Oh, I've flown plenty on Elite! (In fact, all of it, LOL). But all solo-ed, and nowhere near Japori, or Tau Dewa in general.
he's still with the company, just higher up now.
