I initially didn't like the looks of any of the Fed T6 Intel Ships whatsoever and was a strong factor against buying any of them. The nacelles on the Eclipse are just horrible.
But the VR Doffs, VR BOffs, T6 starship skills and the Guardian swayed me, just barely, into buying the Operations pack
I was pleasantly surprised that I could mix and match nacelles on the Fed Intel ships. I ended up with an Eclipse that I love the look of (YMMV): Scryer nacelles top + Eclipse B stanchions (to raise them up a bit), Phantom nacelles bottom + standard Eclipse stanchions
This new look (link below - I can't get images to work on this forum), coupled with the new Intel skills made the Eclipse my current favorite ship
Well the Scryer partly because I think it's the ugliest out of all the T6 ships and partly because of the stats, like I pointed out in another thread it suffers so much more to be a Intel ship than the other two.
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power
This is not a rage thread! A hate Cryptic thread! A patrol thread! A cost too much thread!
This is "I did not buy the ship or ships because I did not like the way they looked"
I for one like the Dautless and the Guardian. Sad because the Dautless is not a real fed ship on tv and I am a escort guy. I'm just not happy with the look of the 3 other fed ships! They don't look fed and I hate neon lights:) Will I buy one? Once I lvl all my gear to epic I may. Just because the power is so much better. But I'm waiting to see the fleet versions and also hoping maybe Cryptic will put out new design variants. I just don't know who is designing these ships. They must love 80's dance clubs with neon floors. Look at the intelligence officers. I think I met one at a rave party 20 years ago! Complete with the glasses!
So am I the only one?
I didn't buy the pack because of the way the ships look and because there isn't enough in there to warrant me paying that money for pixels. That being said, I'm still not impressed with the ships I've seen in game with the exception of the little escort, phantom I think? I've seen a few of them around they are starting to rub off on me. So I may spend some dil to get one eventually once all the newness has worn off. The others are still hideous.

I did get the pack but I outside of the guardian I was not happy with the look of the fed ships in general.
The Eclipse did grow on me. I like it with the stubby phantom nacelles look. I really wish there was a way to space the nacelles out a bit more from the body. The Scryer while not being a fan of, you can at least make look funky. The Phantom I just hate it looks like a trilobite. I really wish there was an option to remove the bridge in the middle of the saucer and add a nose it like the defiant has or a few other saucer designs maybe more arrow shaped something more aggressive. The Dauntless I think ties with Phantom for ugly all I see is a dried squid I know it was in the show but the show had some ugly ships in it and this was one of them. The other ship that bugged me is the Qib on the klink its so flat. I figured there was contouring on the body it looked that way in the illustration but not so much in the final model.
For the fed ships in general I always get this vibe of wanting to do something different and think outside the box which is not necessarily a bad thing. I get the impression they just seem to toss out too many basic idea along the way to different. Sometimes different is not better or new or fresh its just different or different and ugly. I did like some of the roughs they showed off in one of the dev blogs like the ones for the Phantom those looked much nicer then what we got I really wish we had gotten the part to make those versions.
More exotic ships would have drawn me in like The Think Tank, Krenim time ship, or a new shuttle like Alice. That said, I do like the inclusion of the Dauntless, but would have preferred more Voyager show ships.

My favorite ship design of the entire KDF is now the Matha raptor and I'm starting to think that the Eclipse (in white) might be the best looking ship in the entire ST universe.
**** canon, let's have something better.

Notable missions: Apex [AEI], Gemini [SSF], Trident [AEI], Evolution's Smile [SSF], Transcendence
Looking for something new to play? I've started building Foundry missions again in visual novel form!

I'm a donor, so if anything bad ever happens to me, you can have my eyes.
I was kinda put off by the artwork posted, but I really love my Phantom Intel Escort ingame, with the regular Fed hull and the variant nacelle options. It really is a badass next gen Defiant. Love it.
If they had stuck to the original perpetual (or whatever) designs they clearly used as "inspiration" (I call it ripoff, since they won't admit it), they would have looked better.
I did not get them because I don't have the money to dish out.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
I bought the Qib and Mat'ha (the 2 KDF T6 ships) because they look awsome! Like most Klingon ships the devs make, they got these 2 right!
I'm going to buy the intel warbird for my Reman, since it has a more Reman design aesthetic. (He flies an all Reman ship... except Tovan.)
And I'll have to agree that all the fed T6 ships are ugly. All their intel ships look bad IMO. The Dauntless isn't really a fed ship, but still isn't to my taste. And the Guardian, the least bad of all their T6 options, seems proportioned wrong in some places.
I didn't touch them because of the looks too. However seeing the escort from the top it no loner looks like it is flying in reverse like it does on the screen shot.
I actually like some of Cryptic's "updated" designs. I like the Venture alot (even though the windows seem bugged on the non-Gal-X version), I wish there was a Nebula version of it. I like the Regent alot, the Excalibur alot, even think the Stargazer class is OK.
The new T6 stuff hasn't grown on me yet. The escort and the science vessel look OK I guess, but the Guardian doesn't impress me too much. I think the Venture and Odyssey make better "updated large cruiser" skins.
So yeah - looks have alot to do with it. I may eventually cave because it's the only way to get a starship trait, but I'd imagine I'll level it up then go back to my Venture-X, Nebula, and Odyssey.

Clearly they love 80's music...just like me. I especially appreciate their love for 80's T.V. show theme songs, that's why I love my Phantom. Ah, it's nice to fly around in my Knight Industries Twenty Trillion.
I got the Guardian, and I like the way it looks, once I swapped to the alternate nacelles and removed the mini-nacelles. I would consider getting the Phantom, which doesn't look bad when dressed up as a Fed ship with the Intel bits removed.
The fed intel ships just don't look right to me. I understand what they were trying to do but I think they missed the mark, they should have went for a sleeker look to them instead of the blocky faux stealth bomber straight edges look. I remember reading somewhere that the Wells was used as inspiration, that's just insulting to the Wells because it is a sexy beast compared to the intel ships especially if you throw the Aeon skin and Mobius windows on her. The whole concept of tier 6 I think was a mistake, while the ships in theory are superior the boff layouts for most are inferior to most existing ships, people would have paid more to be able to customize their own ships rather than buying these new ones imo.

Even on my other toons though I wont by those ugly ships. They look rather stupid and non-trek like.

yep. i would only buy a t6 ship if it's the ent-d, defiant, voyager, or nx-01, or if i could apply a canon t5 skin to it.

Bought a tempest instead to support cryptic, since that ship looks amazing.Actually, it cost 2 extra dollars. So it was Cryptic's win in this regard.

I bought that one as well, nice ship indeed.

Watch Enterprise episode "Azati Prime" the Dauntless is a real Fed ship on tv.

Probably so that no-one confused it with all the other such threads on the front page. :P
Support 90 degree arc limitation on BFaW! Save our ships from looking like flying disco balls of dumb!
Scryer Intel Science Vessel - Type 6 material and Beta Parts
Phantom Intel Escort - Type 6 material and Beta Parts
Eclipse Intel Cruiser - Type 6 material and Beta Parts
While that is an improvement it is still like putting lipstick on a pig, I think that is the clean version of a saying.
The intel sci is just something I don't like the looks of and nothing seems to be able to improve that.
On the cruiser if I could use parts from the heavy cruiser line then that could tempt me.
As it is I'm going to wait and see what hanger ships they bring out.
KDF get 2 ships, one of which is of classic kdf design and rejoice.
