I posted these on the feedback thread but I am going to post them here as well since there is a lot less noise in this thread.
Some upgrade failures...
Exo-Plating Armor MK XI becomes a normal blue Polly Alloy without mods when you try to upgrade it.
Personal Mobility Shield MK XI Becomes a normal shield when you try to upgrade it.
Leveless Tal Shiar Adapted Borg Warp Core cannot be upgraded at all (no option to do so)
Federation Type 1 Phaser
Federation Type 2 Phaser (Blue quality version)
Federation Type 3 Phaser Rifle
C-Store (these may qualify as "starter items" that are not intended to be upgraded although I think an exception for the rifle would be good since it has an ingame counterpart and is less of a starter item than it is a roleplay prop sold with a costume pack like the Bajoran phasers rather than being a preorder item):
Federation Type 2 Phaser (White quality)
Bajoran Phaser Pistol
I would upgrade the crud out of the Federation Type 1/2/3 weapons as they have unique visuals and sounds that are a LOT of fun.
Also:
Science Console: Field Generator - requires Engineering Upgrade Kits instead of Science Upgrade Kits
While we're on that note: should ground Personal Shield Generators take Shield Upgrade Kits rather than Ground Upgrade Kits? They're the only ground item that does.
Well, most of the ground weapons are beam weapons too...
Yeah, I guess the Devs had to "draw a line in the sand" somewhere when it came to "schools"
I'm happy enough with "Ground" as one and a generic "Shields" as another, though if they moved ground shields to be covered by "ground" it would at least simplify the crafting of Tech kits.

My thought on this is that, thinking longterm:
- Ground has always been less popular than space.
- Therefore if there is to be any price modification after launch, ground items are most likely to get the discount.
- If ground items receive a discount, at that point then people's stockpiles of shield tech upgrades will lose some of their utility.
I suppose this could be handled by simply adjusting the TP in ground items. I just think it's a safer bet to segregate ground and space here.
Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.

I had to copy over my character again because I ran out of R&D, upon doing so I decided to try to upgrade the nausicaan sword he was carrying and cannot upgrade this item. It has no option when you right click. Mine was a blue mk xii with random mods.
So nausicaan tegolar sword on the list for what isnt upgradable as of 9/24 and time 0300 pst.
OK so I upgraded my old favorite my first STF Borg Phaser (bought from the task force store with requisitions after F2P)sniper rifle from XI to XII it think, just to test the system. It upgraded and carried over its quality and its normal modifiers CriticalD and CriticalH and but lost its [Borg] modifier which is a bummer. Damage went up nicely.
Oddly the error appeared just after I put the the first bit pf tech upgrade XP in not when i claimed it, but once upgraded and claimed ti was still missing(i was waiting for that to be sure) To be clear this is not the type you get from killing the Assimilated Gorn on Defera, but the one from the old days at DS9. Still a great gun for me so i'm happy enough. Will still likely fully upgrade it to XIII after seeing the damage stats, who knows maybe the Borg will pop back.
Anyone think maybe the weapons and gear systems should be moving more towards the Kit system, with customization and upgrade being very personnel. Maybe moving towards the aesthetic system from there too.? I'm quite happy there putting more work into upgrading and customization between R&D exclusives, Updates, and traits.

Heya Frost, is there any official word on legacy gear, aside from the TR-116a? Most of it is pretty harmless and could be neat to upgrade.
