Bacon is old hat, you retro youngsters. Pizza cake is the new thing therefore as I wait I will grab a slice of bacon pizza cake (the best of both worlds on that one) and watch the fun commence.
We change them out. We have a field where we harvest new hamsters to fill the spots of the old server hamsters. The old server hamsters are retired to a porch on a grassy meadow, where on a rocking chair they sip at lemonade and wistfully recall previous maintenances and launches. This younger generation of hamsters don't realize how good they have it!!
Maintenance has begun! I will post in approximately 2.5 hours again once maintenance has completed.

It's funny, I just finished a somewhat clumsily executed Undine Infiltration with less than a minute on the maintenance timer. Already thought it was a bust, too...
Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.
Yikes, just installed the game yesterday, now I am back to downloading again, 127.5mb/6534, sigh, oh well, bed time I guess, with my internet, thats about 5 hours!
If it truely is hamster food, is going to be some might fat hamsters out there!
They've got the game set up to automatically look to see if your version is up-to-date with what They have released in the last week.
It's always like this before a big addition to the game.
It will stop once D.R. hits next Tuesday.
Mine keeps patching the same 3k+ patch at startup and at sign-off. It doesn't even seem to finish it before it tells me I can engage or after log-off. I don't know how to explain it.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything.

There is something wrong with your hard drive or the patcher itself. The game should patch just 1 time, and after that no more.

I'm going to go with patcher on this (of course I could be wrong, but nothing else on my computer is malfunctioning, is why I'm going with patcher). It's a rather minor annoyance at the moment and only takes a few extra seconds before I can sign in, so I'm leaving it for the moment.

I'm aware of that, but it keeps trying to patch at EVERY sign in and sign off.

Not sure what to tell you then. I am not having the same issue. Might be some sort of problem with your STO install or settings.
No, I am not who you think I am. I am someone different. I am instead a banana.
For me, each time the pre-patch come sin for a new season or such, the pre-patch runs through about 10% of the patch itself and then quits. But it's done that each time... Someone had told me that's a built in thing, to keep it from patching the whole thing all at once... Not sure, but mine does the same thing, and it's done it each time.

That's why I'm waiting till after DR comes out and see if it keeps it up. If so, I may just uninstall/reinstall it. Like I said it's a minor annoyance, I just thought I'd mention it.

Yes I have the same thing. It doesn't take much time anymore, though it did take a minute or two several times.

I am going with the patcher as well, I have STO on 3 different computers, and it has been doing this on all of them since the prepatch came out. I find it hard to believe that there is a HD problem on all 3 installs.

They're pre-patching for the expansion so it isn't quite as much of a cliffpocalypse magedonnacaust as the LoR release. I must admit that it's not a terrible plan.
I cant imagine that its only prepatching. It patched over 30 gigs in two days and burned up my whole data allowance plus some(overages are not cheap). im not gona be able to even play delta until the end of the month.

Thank you, Skylar
The computer I am using now is my son's former entertainment server, set up to play games. He gave it to me after he set up another entertainment server and there isn't anything wrong with this one, hard drive-wise.
I'll just wait to see what happens after the 14th and all patches for the expansion have been released.
Now a LTS and loving it.

It didn't patch 30gb. Here's a post from Taco explaining how it works.

It's a prepatch for DR that has been available for a little over a week now.
