STO launcher just tried to infect my PC with a Trojan.

IDP Trojan is a malicious software that can be used to interfere with the normal operation of a computer, gather personal information or allow a hacker to access the device remotely without the user's consent.

This kind of malware usually arrives in the form of an unwanted download from a malicious website or as code illegally injected into a legitimate website without the webmaster's knowledge. It can also be received as an email attachment or an instant message from an untrusted source.

IDP Trojan is a malicious software.....

i dont think that your game file "Star Trek Online.exe" is a trojan but if you believe it might be one try scanning it with online virus/mailware scanners like:

    https://www.virustotal.com/
    https://www.metascan-online.com
    http://scanthis.net/

Or even better try another virus scanner and see if it pops up in that scanner just like the AVG one

anyway i hope that STO isnt getting into the virus/trojan business, i doubt they would bother with that when we're all paying for subs and online content xD
But it could be possible that your Steam client may have been infected somehow. Might be worth doing a full scan to see whats what.

Yeah you should use another antivirus, not AVG. Like kapersky or nod32, for example. Its the only way to be sure it is not a real virus. A lot of anti-virus apps take as fake virus a lot of things, and the only way to be sure is to use a really good anti-virus, like the two i mentioned. AVG is not bad, but it is far from the two top in the industry.

And in any case, i doubt that the EXE is infected. If the STO executable is infected, probably you infected it from another source.

AVG is notorious for false positives and online games, that's the primary reason I switched to Avast and haven't had any problems since.

AVG once deleted Windows own .dll files which caused the pc to fail on a reboot. Made me a bit of a profit for helping people to repair it :D .

    Nerf is OP, plz nerf
That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.

I call it, the Stoutes paradox.

AVG user here, running both a free version and the paid version on 2 PC's running STO. Neither flagged this recently. I've updated both...
