Launcher Crashing after Sign-On & patch from 3/27

Hello Dev Team,

I wanted to drop you all a line and as I've recently downloaded todays patch and verified files and even upload the crash report. The game is still not launching and continuously sends an error report after the crash. Is this something new? I've even shut off the firewall, restarting several times and connected my laptop and tower directly through to the internet, bypassing my router just to be sure. Also, my wife is experiencing the same situation through her office internet on her account. We both carry cable internet and have never experienced a problem like this.

Anyone else going through this?

Thanks for your time.

My problem is after every kind of patch, the program fails to start after the loading screen. I really do not understand the level of incompetence that it takes to not produce an update that installs correctly...

Frist time I encounter this. My launcher crashes even before I can enter my password. Cannot get on the game.

Very frustrating as I have a fleet to run. Please fix this within the hour.

i must admit this problem is getting old mighty quick because here again i find myself having to uninstall the game and reinstall the game yet again to hopefully get it to work right i am just wondering if it be to much to ask PWE/ARC to hold its promotes for this game they love to have every week until this problem is better fixed

also if cryptic studios was not bumed rush so much and had a lot of time to beta test to make sure everything would work they way it needs to *including the patcher updater launcher* up to a certain point i would like to think things would run smoother more often

    *my begging plead to PWE/ARC*

i under stand time is money and i have no problems what so ever with that but what i do have a problem with is a non working game and its hard to donate to a game that is not stable and does not work very well and at some point i will be looking to donate some money to get some zen at some point in this year

can i beg of you to please let things being tested right and that it works right before patch release please?

*my begging plead to cryptic studios*

if and when you guys have the time or can find the time or fit some time in to make a tool with a independent download link that can scan to find out whats going on with your product better so you guys can analyze what the tool is reporting so you guys are not being inconvenience so much and can find quicker answers or at the very least better answers that might be more of a permanent solution

    *my final thoughts*

i am not anyone super important and a nobody i agree with you there PWE and cryptic studios but i like to think at the end of the day i am a concerned person that loves to care a lot and i just hate to see such a fine product being shoot out of the sky and going down to earth in a ball of flames being plague by hopefully small problems that hopefully can be fixed

i am sorry to dare cross that line in the sand and for going out of bounds in the TOS rules i agreed upon but at the end of the day i just really care that much please do not ip ban me i like to keep enjoying the products that PWE sponsors

thank you to any PWE staff member that is wiling to take the time to read this

I have had this exact same problem since the 27/03 patch. The game crashes during launcher load. I've lost count of the number of error logs i've submitted.

Anyone know how to reinstall the game so I can see if that works? The game isn't listed in Windows as an uninstallable program. I also can't find an uninstaller in the game folder. And I can't find a downloader for the game anymore either. All the links just divert me to the ARC info pages which are useless and not what i'm looking for.

My error log seems to be a bit different as well:

140327 23:20:01 1 [1]: Browsing to URL path blank while loading page /launcher_login
    140327 23:20:02 2 [1]: JavaScript exception: Uncaught ReferenceError: $ is not defined

I've been getting launcher freezes trying to DOWNLOAD the patch, I am going to be playing with the options in an attempt to fix this, but if I can't fix it from the launcher options I already have, then This might be goodbye.

Well done Cryptic, yet again. CTD at character select with error code 30276201. How many weeks will I be out of game this time?

My launcher also crashes after login.

    My error logs shows this:

    140328 19:40:23 1 InvalidType[1]: Unrecognized command "1" (did you mean "-1"?)
    140328 19:40:23 2 InvalidType[1] ESC : Unrecognized command: Lang 0\nUnknown command \qLang\q.
    140328 19:40:23 3 InvalidType[1] ESC : Unrecognized command: CECrash 1\nUnknown command \qCECrash\q.

Edit 1: I found the origin of this error:

    140328 19:23:03 2 [1]: Invalid ea_id : D:/Users/Public/Games/Cryptic Studios/Star Trek Online/Playtest/piggs/texture.hogg: 11 4415
    140328 19:23:03 3 [1]: Invalid ea_id : D:/Users/Public/Games/Cryptic Studios/Star Trek Online/Playtest/piggs/texture.hogg: 11 4417
    140328 19:23:03 4 [1]: Invalid ea_id : D:/Users/Public/Games/Cryptic Studios/Star Trek Online/Playtest/piggs/texture.hogg: 11 26515
    140328 19:23:03 5 [1]: Invalid ea_id : D:/Users/Public/Games/Cryptic Studios/Star Trek Online/Playtest/piggs/texture.hogg: 11 26516

So I went to Playtest folder and just deleted the texture.hogg file. And now the launcher works perfectly.

Same happening to me since the most recent patch. Never had this problem before now. Launcher shows patching then the Engage button. Game stalls at the initial Cryptic screen with the loading circle just sitting there spinning for a minute or two, then it crashes with a Fatal Error message about not being able to connect to on-demand patching or something and that it couldn't connect to patch server. I can't even put in comments on the following crash details window as it disappears seconds later.
NOTE: I also have Neverwinter installed here and it does the EXACT SAME THING after its most recent patch (same timeframe as STO's patch, yesterday).
All I'm finding in the forums is a lot of people with the same problems, but NO responses from PWE or Cryptic. Can we get some help on this?! Can't even find any help on how to repair the game or procedures for uninstall/reinstall.

"Fatal Error: Unable to initialize on-demand patching and connect to Patch Server: The connection was idle for too long."

I've even tried disabling on-demand patching in the launcher options as per suggestion in the Arc support area.

Interesting to note that when I actually try to start up Arc itself (as I've been running STO and NW from their own individual launchers ... I hate Arc BTW), it's stalled at the "Checking for updates..." window. So could this mean that Arc is responsible for crashing both games (as it's common between the two and I've NEVER had this issue before). If Arc can't even patch itself and login...

Can we just get rid of Arc now?

My client is patching since yesterday and is very slow. I was off the game since three days ago and took me forever just to update the launcher. I tried pinging and tracert on Cryptic's servers and has a very high ping rate reaching up to 230ms or thereabouts.

Ok Hello STO Dev team, I having problems in getting in to play sto and I am an lifetime sub for this game that I brought when you had the last sale an couple of months ago. I ran all the test and here are the results for my test from me and to your severs. Yes I had an computer die on me and had to get my old computer that has an LGA 775 with an R7 260X but it was working fine before I build up my newer one that has the asus gtx 750i in it. I am able to go anywhere on the internet on this old computer but not to sto. I start the game, I see the launcher pop up and then sit there saying please wait launcher is starting and all I see is black screen on the launcher saying please wait launcher is starting at the top of it. Now here are the test results for my computer, granted my asus 750i one is down and I am back to using this old LGA 775 Q9550 cpu with an AMD R7 260X video card.

If you're still stuck give this a shot.
I was having pretty much the same issue with MAC OS.

I posted my fix in the link below
This fix is for the MAC OS but you may have a similar directory structure and it may work for you as well. You'll have to adjust for windows.

Mac Luncher error/Crash loop fix that worked for me
