it was alt universe, the kelvin just happened to be on its journey when this massive blackhole appeared and that narada came through to destroy it, the only thing in that fight from the prime universe was the narada. the kelvin was not and is not prime universe. you have been confused somewhere.
It was not an alternate universe until the Narada showed up and made it alternate.
the defiant was the 742nd ship design, there could be any reason for it not to have the 0 designation, but from what was mentioned the defiant is overdesigned and overpowered, there could of been several prototypes that were built that would account for 4 ships beforehand, but your guess is as good as mine. its not a prove or disprove, its simply without any further facts in hand from hard canon sources, thats a dead end.
thats the point there were only 12 ships in the federation fleet and were connies and only 12 registry serials were ever used, i never stated they were in order :P.
Kirk said there was 12 ships of the Enterprise's type.
That doesn't mean there were 12 ships in Starfleet or 12 Connies.
Personally, my take is that the Enterprise went through a refit between The Cage and when Kirk was in charge. The interior certainly looks different. And that refit was only applied to 12 Connies and dramatically improved performance.
So as of the moment when Kirk said there were 12 ships of the Enterprise's type, I think he's referring very specifically to Connies that had a late 2260s refit by that point.
Otherwise the attempt to catalogue the number of ships in service becomes very limiting and makes it too difficult for later writers to introduce new Connies. Stuff like STO's USS Reuben James becomes difficult to fit otherwise and then almost no TOS era novels could co-exist with one another since introducing more Connies has been a tradition for 40 years.
Another thing to keep in mind is that the Miranda class Saratoga was intended to have been in service in the 2260s, likely with the old style nacelles and prior to a Motion Picture style refit. The ship registry was specifically chosen to be a registry that had been seen in TOS, which implies the Mirandas were contemporaries of the Connie and had gone through a similar nacelle/hull refit process. Since the Saratoga didn't precede the class ship, the USS Miranda (unless it was the Miranda, rechristened), that would account for at least two ships that would have been active in TOS era.
As near as I can piece together, the Mirandas and Connies were both active in the 2260s. And the Stargazer and Excelsior were developed parallel to one another as well.
I am impressed. It's like cryptic has secret mind-reading technology and sucked almost the EXACT look I was hoping for from a 25th century cruiser/ambassador refit out of my head and made it exist.
The only quibbles I have would be if it doesn't have a high nacelle option and if it doesn't have the option for a traditional roundy-saucer.
Back in days when Avenger was released, I said I was annoied by the 25th century federation saucer's style: no more round saucers...just "d**kheads" ships... XD
I'm so glad now they made this ship! I just hope it's worth.
Hmm what are those glowing things in the middle of the pylons? Mini-warp-nacelles? Do they have any purpose? Can you fire those at your enemies? "Mr.Worf, fire all spare nacelles!"
Dunno how eagle-eyed people are on Twitter, but a day or two after the blog came out, a question was asked of Captain Geko over Twitter about the Guardian, with a pretty satisfying answer.
Yep, mini nacelles. We were having a discussion about it down in the Galaxy thread. Luckily, one poster found that one of the devs posted on reddit that the mini nacelles can be removed in the ship tailor.

Hmm unless those mini nacelles can "undock" from the pylons and dock with the saucer they are pretty useless for a seperated saucer section.

I wish they were somehow connected to the cruiser's special abilities. That way it would make sense. Otherwise they just feel... weird. I wonder if those mini nacelles actually glow up when you go to warp.

Why..... would the saucer need nacelles? Both the saucers from the Galaxy class and the Odyssey class lack nacelles when theirs separate. Same thing with most any other starship that's designed (but not seen in-game) with the capacity for it; the saucers pretty much never have nacelles attached to them.
I think you're confusing basic cruiser saucer separation maneuvers with the much more exotic Multi-Vector Attack Mode.

Hmm must have confused it. I could have sworn that I once saw a picture of the galaxy saucer section with a single small warp nacelle on top of it. It looked just like the top section of the multi-vector assault vessel.

Haha, it's okay. You may have just been seeing a Galaxy-X at just the right angle and gotten confused.
Saucers are pretty much designed as emergency escape vehicles for the civilian populations of these larger ships, and really only used near planets or stations that the saucers can get at within a reasonable amount of time under impulse power alone. So that usually means they have no nacelles (and no warp power).

^^THIS!^^
I love the classic round saucers, they're sth. special to Fed ships for me. I really do prefer them to the chevron designs. And whatta ya' know - this ship turned out to be more than worth it!
This is the only T6 ship I have any interest in, though I likely wont be making the purchase if there aren't isn't any customization to be had, and if a Nebula-style variant isn't in the works.

Looks like it will have a decent amount of customization. Found the reddit post on it.

Smooth neck, no mini-nacelles, different pylon configuration. These are some of the customization options.

In my opinion, those mini nacelles will be explained like auxiliary nacelles in case of some sort of troubles in the delta quadrant... An excuse alike the Avenger nacelle's fins ("with optional fins for atmospheric stability"). And no, I am pretty sure they won't glow up when you go to warp, as much as those on the Cheyenne still don't.
I never bought anything with Zens! Always "worked" hard to gain the max from the shipyard... But now...I cannot resist. I really hope in a huge success of this ship for giving a clue to the Cryptic designer team how to work in the future! D**kheads saucers in order to have a better maneuverability in combat?! AH! Go tell this **** to the captains of the Akira class ships.

The rest of the ship looks great though.

Might be more since he used "some" instead of "all". We'll have to see though.

Crosses fingers for nacelles above saucer configuration.
