I'm not trolling or other,In this months I see many old players have left the pvp,some will return but for me we need a lot of fix and news and I am very skeptical for a big update of pvp in Sto..I wrote pvp is dead for the new additions that we are starting to see on Delta Rising,like new sci abilities and other things that I am not now explain not to dwell.Game is not balanced
Part power creep (can we really call it "creep"?), part gameplay changes.
The first skill tree revamp for example changed hull and shield values. KDF and Fed cruisers suddenly had the same hull values, where before KDF cruisers gave up some hull for all their benefits. It also pushed escorts out of the glass cannon zone and allowed them to tank.
Field generators came out, pushing more escorts firmly into being tankable. Then they decided "oh noes sci console slots need to feel relevant", and shifted them to the sci console slots and for some crazy reason made them stackable. Now you have escorts with more shields than the cruiser and resist wise only slightly less tanky due to engineering consoles diminishing returns.
Oh and there's the buffed tactical team. I remember testing this with Mini way way back and both of us saying it was a huge mistake. I even remember thinking it was like a mini RSP with TSS1.
And each time tanking gets stronger, cryptic tried to counter it by making us do more damage... Which only leads to extremes. A tanky ship with full buffs can last forever, but take it's buffs and it dies in mere seconds. This is not a good thing.
Then there's lockbox ships.
As for the special ship consoles, I'm sure we all remember the hubbub when they were first released. Then the facepalming and groans when ships could fit any console. That really truly screwed over PvP.
And that's well over a year ago and it's just gotten even worse.
PvE wise it's gotten so insane we've got teams casually completing space STF's in well under 3 minutes each. Perhaps 5 minutes in total to do three. Compare that to pre power creep (and pre-nerf) STF's, where the space segment would take 15-25 minutes and would be a challenge. And fun at that.

Fyi, KDF Cruiser had more Hull then Fed Cruisers, KDF has always had crappy shield mods. It was the Raiders that had crappy hull mods too.
Maco and later Fleet shields allowed escorts to "tank". There was a nice period before folks got Maco and they fixed the shield swap regen bug that escorts (everything really) were much more vulnerable. But, to be fair Tet Glider negated Maco, and KDF Fleet Weapons negated Fleet shields.
Really, the escorts got "tanky" when Devs boosted defenses to Cannons apparently not realizing many ships had the ability to use those same defenses (including escorts). Around that time Lotto Ships, C-Store ships got boosted and Fleet ships came out. This is when the bug really started to separate from the rest of the escort pack (another extra tac console etc). Those gameplay changes were power creep. The last attempt at balance w/reasonable power creep left w/Heretic and the "PvP Dev".
Anyway the power creep wheel keeps on spinning, eventual your playstyle will get back on top, just a matter if you want to endure the grind or not. Oh, and don't ever expect ANY worthwhile PvP investment from Cryptic.
OT, Here's to hoping there's a least one decent F.E. w/the expansion, Voyager grew on me over the years think I'd rank them today as ToS, NextGen, Voyager, Enterprise (grew on me too, though wasn't a fan of the Xindi arch too may reliance on time travel), DS9 (Bajorans annoyed the heck out of me, sad I routed for Antagonist characters more than the protagonists).
