rommies claim t5 free stuff?

rather odd occurance has happened, the news shows the ambassador isnt released until tomorrow, yet it was released today and not only that but romulans can claim and use this t5 tech, however as it should be the varanus isnt claimable because romulans toons are not allowed other faction tech above t4 - lvl 30 and yet romulans can claim it and the ship is on the z store right now.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

    It's always been known that the Ambassador would be Monday 01/09.

    As to the T5 issue? Who knows if Cryptic will comment. You are right that it can be claimed by Roms, but from the C-Store.
    If you've come to the forums to complain about the AFK system, it's known to be bugged at the moment.

    The ship is the version given out if you did "Temporal Ambassador" during the Year 3 event. It's not a normal C-store ship. They must have forgotten to code it to say "No Romulans allowed".

    And if you guys try to take it from me...
    Everywhere I look, people are screaming about how bad Cryptic is.
    What's my position?
    That people should know what they're screaming about!

    it doesnt matter where it is claimed, its t5, romulans are not allowed to use t5 federation or kdf tech period. thats why they got their own ships.

    Adding in that the coding must have been left off the ship.

    Pointing out that now that I have it, if they try to take it, I will not be happy.

    I've had several people confirm that they have claimed the T5 ambassador as federation rommies in a channel I frequent. Can anybody confirm this? If so, this needs to be fixed ASAP. Rommies should not have access to end-game federation or KDf ships.

    Moved to bug reports, however it's probably too little too late and they'll have to "fix" it (if they so choose) later on.

    may i ask why just fed and klingon ... rom have t5 ship ... why just giveaway t5 ship for fed and klin

    This is a bug report. Descision making by the devs on who gets what freebees is not inherently a bug.

    Also, Roms don't have enough tier 5 ships yet to justify it.
    Everywhere I look, people are screaming about how bad Cryptic is.

    I agree. This is not a bug. The devs made their decision to give Romulans access to this particular ship.

    I did claim it on rom character.
    After 11 months i got c-store obsolete 9 console ship on romulan character, problem? :P

    +1 confirming that Roms can claim it, not that we really need it.

    We'll see how long it lasts though. But if the devs were to leave the ship as useable for Fed Rom, i'd totally be ok with it. :P

    If Dev time is wasted squashing this perfectly harmless breadcrumb to Romulans rather than say fixing the maintenance engineer we were supposed to get during junior officer appreciation weekend I'm grabbing my pitchforks:mad:

    I too managed to claim it on my Fed-rom. After it let me claim it on her I tried the Varanus just to see if it was a special to do with the weekend event but no luck. Seeing as how the Ambassador is not an upgradeable Tier 5 it won't exactly be a very big issue them flying it occasionally. One "fix" would be to do the same thing with the Kamarag for KDF-Rom on the next giveaway.

    With these 2 ships it can be justified as saying that your character just did the Retrofit upgrades to their T3 version that you get for playing the Temporal Ambassador mission. I would have an issue with them making the other faction specific T5 ships accessible to Rom toons unless it is a Retro-fit of one that they could use at a lower level. (Basically implying your toon forked out the funds and hired a crew to retrofit the old ship to T5.) I would Exclude the C-store variants from that since they are upgradable making it Dil and the 200k Fleet Credit Retrofits only since those are not T5-U compat. But that is just my way I would fix it.

    Looking forward to seeing what they do for the squashing of this bug.
    *Will they be letting us keep the claimed ship but not able to Reclaim if we discharge.

    *ill we be having it taken away at that time.

    *Will they just make it a global exception that all Fed-Roms that managed to claim it on their account (even only as a fed player claim) will have it treated as a promotional ship similar to how during the initial release for a limited time you could get the T3 and T5 from the episode. Then not again until now.

    Only Time will tell what approach they will take.

    I'm thinking this may be the start of a trend..as they start rolling out the T6 ships for the Feds and Klingons and Romulans, they will also start making the Fed and Klingon T5 ships available to Romulans (Fed and KDF T6 will NOT be available as they will be the new high tier ships)..but that is just my opinion.

    i was thinking that that its possible t5 may go rommie way, but then again i really cant see any reason why to give the romulans even more ships then the feds and klingons could get combined.

    I don't like Ambassador to be usable by the romulans. Are we members of UFP now?..

    The US Navy has sold some of their obsolete ships to other countries...

    We're allied to the UFP, and considering the majority of my crew are Vulcans, it makes sense we'd use a Federation ship, especially as we're an exploration/science ship, not a warship.

    Although a D'kyr would have been far more fitting.
