To the OP if something in this game is a holy icon of Star Trek. Just keep this in mind the designs the developers will put on it will never come anything close to anything more than a gimmick. Took 9 seasons for them to debug everything except the costumes for the b'rel and to put something they have let stay in the game for well over a few months that actually makes it useful in its Enhanced Battle Cloak mode IE:The molecular torpedoes and mines.

The odds are stacked against us as Star Trek fans when it comes to this game but heres to hoping with some slither of hope if it even exists that Expansion 2 will be viewed as something good.

Actually the beam is one of the best weapons you may use on any plasma beam build. And adding the zeropoint, which is a great console by itself, is a no brainer, the set bonus is adding to both directly and indirectly to your damage output. On non plasma builds one might argue if the console is worth a slot.

The beam is one of the best beam arrays in game, yes. But its a beam array. It cannot hit anything if placed aft, and placed fore, it is significantly lower dps than a quality DBB. It might make a nice DD weapon with a broadside build.

zeropoint is a nice console, but do the math.
leech & valdor are a given. 5 tac consoles, given.
There are 3 slots left... and you might use 2 of them for fleet sci consoles with plasma damage? That leaves 1 open for all the rep consoles, all the lockbox consoles, etc. Its a tight fit.

I prefer Borg, Bioneural and Zeropoint besides Leech and Valdore. One might swap the Bioneural for an embassy flow cap if there's a problem getting the full 4 [Amp] boost.

4 slots, as Valdore isnt given, its just a lazy players approach. Sure, it makes you sturdier and what not, but in the end, if you dont need it, its just a hindrance for more dps ;)

Its a game... let em play how they want.
I use to do 100K DPS, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

Your Ramming Speed III deals 242658 (243540) Kinetic Damage (Critical) to you.

"Bwuh? A torpedo? On my OP DPS monstah that only elitists should fly? That's preposterous!!"

If the player knows what he's doing, he's helpful, viable, competent, then it shouldn't matter in the slightest what gear, weapons or skills he's using on what ship.

Personally, I couldn't care less about PvP, not really because of the power creep craziness, but those aforementioned elitists with "the only viable builds".

As for PvE, it's way too easy at this point, so the way I'm playing the game now is to fly a ship I like the LOOKS of, regardless of how much it sucks, and then making it useful though other means. For example, I'm flying a Fleet Escort (Sabre) with Phaser DHCs, Quad and Gravimetric Torp, which many escort players would consider inferior to plasma or antiprotons on a Fleet Patrol Escort, but I'm still managing to dish out over 16k DPS through gear, skills and just knowing what I'm doing at a given point, which is more than enough for all current PvE content. Why would I need more? To beat an easy mission even quicker, rather than enjoying myself?

So if you think that using a certain weapon, skill, gear etc. on a particular ship makes me a noob, or having a "single digit IQ", then I can simply show you a middle finger and go back enjoying the game WHILE being a useful and competent teammate. Personally, I consider PvP/DPS elitists much worse than pve queue noobs at this point.

It's is quite easily possible to get well over 20K DPS from a Scim with mostly beam arrays and the Plasma torp.

Yes some people Like to min/max and get every little bit of DPS out of their ship. For me I'm quite happy doing over 20K in PVE and I like the torp so I'll use it.

I would imagine other pepole are like me also. I'ts such a powerfull ship it doen't need to be set up perfectly to be great. A reasonably competent build is all you need.

Hell when I pug STF's my pets often do more damage than some of the other players!
