So, this means a Bortas, ENT era BOP, Springfield, Challenger, Princeton, Yeager, Elkins, Curry, the Raging Queen, the Constellation, the Antares-Miranda Variant, TOS Antares, ENT Intrepid, the ENT Delta ship, the Sydney, the Medusa, the Freedom, and the Mission scout will not be in the game, well maybe the Constellation (since the assets where accidentally leaked) and we will get STO original ships because we know how much The Geko hates to put in ships he doesn't like. He hates those kit-bashes.
Why would ENTERPRISE era ships not be included since we actually saw them in the show?

Why would ENTERPRISE era ships not be included since we actually saw them in the show?
We actually saw all of those ships that I mentioned, but truthfully the ENT BOP, the Bortas, the ENT Intrepid, and the Delta I dont see them being added. They would be a low-level ship, unless they are released as skins.
However, they are a buttload of alien ships that will probably inserted first, that's why they went to the Delta Quadrant. Except for the Hirogen ships, there is a vast amount of untapped canon ship designs for the lock boxes.
Seth, thank you so much for consolidating this information. I am sending an internet high five in your general direction.
are links to the dev panel and Q&A session going to be made available? When will Dev blogs start? Or is PWE going to rely on players to compile this info?

They'll do it whenever they get good and ready to. It is set to be released in October and it's August now...they have time.
My Old Blog about things that could and should have been added when I wrote it. Not sure what I want to do with it now. I'll just keep it available now that most of it is outdated.
They'll do it whenever they get good and ready to. It is set to be released in October and it's August now...they have time.
yes. but would be good if they got info out sooner rather than later... already hearing some of the big spenders in my fleet tlaking that are going to hold spendign money till they get more info.

They have already said that the remaining canon ships will be added (New Orleans, Freedom, Antares, probably others) were indeed on the way, but they would not be end game ships. It comes down to the fact that most of them aren't going to be as attractive as the stuff Cryptic is going to make, and only hardcore Trekkers are going to recognize them and maybe buy them. They have to pay for themselves, and face it - there is NO WAY that the Yeager or the other "uglies" are going to pay for themselves.
yes. but would be good if they got info out sooner rather than later... already hearing some of the big spenders in my fleet tlaking that are going to hold spendign money till they get more info.
They aren't worried about the whales, the moment they announce the DR version of the Legacy Pack, those guys will be all over it. They need to build excitement among the casuals who will be buying things piecemeal, hence the Tribble builds in August and the 40 dev blogs.
D'Kyr getting love, and Cardassian playability designated as "[eventually] inevitable." And NOTHING being obsolete? We'll see about that, but at least there's some hope kinda sorta that this might be a decent update.
[*]Cardassians as either a playable species or as their own faction is "inevitable", but nothing on the table for Delta Rising.
Interesting. The last time Geko talked about that topic he was pretty adamant that there won't be another faction. So that leaves a new playable species.
[*]SHIP UPGRADES WILL NOT BE TIED TO CRAFTING.
THANK YOU! Crafting should always be completely optional, and opting not to craft at all should never cause any disadvantages.
[*]There are more than 40 dev blogs coming our way about Delta Rising.
So we've got, let's say, 10 weeks until release. That's 4 dev blogs per week starting NOW. I better see something tommorrow!
Tier 5 ships can still be played throughout level 50-60 content. Most existing tier 5 ships can be improved to gain some of the advantages of tier 6 ships. The devs specifically wanted to avoid making things obsolete. More details to come.
Lots of old ships need love: Nebula, D'Kyr, Garumba, Aquarius, etc. We'll see some of those starting with Delta Rising.
Interesting, isn't it?
No word about the Galaxy, lol.
But not very surprising, IMO.
Since when is the Aquarius considered a "old" ship ?!?
The thing that makes me worried is the word "most"...
The devs do want to eventually bring back a true exploration-type feature to the game. They need to find a smarter way to bring infinite exploration that is interesting and entertaining. Not happening in Delta Rising, though.
"Nothing you have will become obsolete. Ships, gear, nothing." - CaptainGeko.
I want to belive!
"...'With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured...the first thought forbidden...the first freedom denied--chains us all irrevocably.' ... The first time any man's freedom is trodden on, we're all damaged. I fear that today--"

This is a very impressive list of non-announcements put together by Cryptic. I mean really impressive. Think about how much of this is stuff that's not happening in the expansion:
[*]Tier 6 ships: All 3 factions getting new ships. New class of starship to go along with the new class of boff.
Starts off great. Something that is coming with the expansion.
[*]New advancement system: "Beyond 50 level progression system". Progression in the system even beyond level 60. Specialization skill trees to add further character customization.
This is kind of half and half. A new system "specialization" which appears to be their version of Alternate Advancement. But also an admission that the skill tree itself is done and not advancing in the expansion.
[*]Tier 5 ships can still be played throughout level 50-60 content. Most existing tier 5 ships can be improved to gain some of the advantages of tier 6 ships. The devs specifically wanted to avoid making things obsolete. More details to come.
Vague. Wish they had actually prepared details for this. I mean they had to know people would want more info right?
So so far it seems like it's been a list of stuff that's coming with the expansion. Then ...
[*]Cardassians as either a playable species or as their own faction is "inevitable", but nothing on the table for Delta Rising.
Ok. Not happening in the expansion.
[*]The rank increase to Fleet Admiral will not allow us to control multiple starships. It's still very much a "something Geko really wants in the game at some point" feature.
Not happening.
[*]Secondary deflectors: Still on the schedule. Had to be pushed back due to resources. They're really close to being done.
Not happening.
[*]Lots of old ships need love: Nebula, D'Kyr, Garumba, Aquarius, etc. We'll see some of those starting with Delta Rising.
Only partially happening.
[*]SHIP UPGRADES WILL NOT BE TIED TO CRAFTING.
Not happening.
[*]Being able to simultaneously run multiple R&D research projects in the same school was a straight-up bug. Al apologizes for the bug going out.
A bug. That will get fixed? I think?
[*]At this point, it's unlikely that any 3rd-party ships will go into the game once all the canon ships have been added.
Not happening. (Also, what exactly are 3rd party ships?)
[*]Increasing the level cap and adding new gear helps to fight power creep because the game is rebalanced for a max of level 60.
Something that is happening. But as many MMO vets can tell you is actually NOT happening. Sorry Cryptic Devs, but MUDFLATION (which is what a new level cap and new gear in an expansion is) ... IS power creep. The same thing. So Power Creep being handled? Not happening.
[*]Open-jacket versions of the Odyssey dress uniforms make sense at some point, as do more variants of the uniform in general.
Great idea that's ... not happening.
[*]There are plans to implement more red alerts similar to the Borg red alert. Maybe in the next year, those can be started on.
I'm resisting the temptation to rant about how this content is horribly implemented and broken in the game and has consistently been re-broken after fixes over the past few years. All I'll say is ... again, not happening.
[*]The devs do want to eventually bring back a true exploration-type feature to the game. They need to find a smarter way to bring infinite exploration that is interesting and entertaining. Not happening in Delta Rising, though.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah. Putting aside my own thoughts on the topic of exploration all I'll say is all those posts the past few weeks from posters who were totally on board with Cryptic removing content because they were hoping and/or expecting the expansion to bring new exploration? Nope. NOT happening.
[*]Some of the 50-60 content will be held off to be released later. They have plans in place through at least the next anniversary. With a good amount of repeatable content in place, they can bring us more story content now.
This is the best (well worst) part of the information thus far. New content? Some of it is not happening. There's a good amount of REPEATABLE content. So enjoy that! But new content? Being held off until after the expansion.
Ridiculous.
[*]Delta Rising will be on Tribble "sooner than you think". The new code branch will hit Tribble this month, but probably no content. The expansion will be released to Tribble a little at a time.
Something that IS happening. Though the process they have in place for testing and feedback on Tribble is oft-criticized. So I'm not sure I really see the point of them even releasing it to Tribble at all. Just toss it live. Like they did with the Beam Overload change!
[*]In wanting to improve old content, the devs do eventually want to revisit PvP. No time frame, but it will happen at some point.
PVP Revamp ... not happening with the expansion. Of course. I mean why would it?
[*]"Nothing you have will become obsolete. Ships, gear, nothing." - CaptainGeko.
Without meaningful details this is bologna.
[*]If anyone has any good ideas for the Captain's Table, let Geko know.
Great gesture, but doubtful any changes to that would be done in time for the expansion. So again, not happening?
[*]There are more than 40 dev blogs coming our way about Delta Rising.
40 dev blogs about what though? Most of the ideas are things that they don't have time or resources to do. Stuff that they want to do but isn't happening.
40 dev blogs about what though? Most of the ideas are things that they don't have time or resources to do. Stuff that they want to do but isn't happening.
Seems like the expansion is ... specious at best.
Maybe I'm just too cynical.
Then again ...
You are a bit too cynical. Just a bit. We will see most of the "older" or too-wimpy ships get buffs, I'd assume, etc. The only thing I doubt is that players controlling multiple ships and new exploration will be added within any of our lifetimes. (I wouldn't hold my breath for anything PvP-related but it's not impossible)
[*]The rank increase to Fleet Admiral will not allow us to control multiple starships. It's still very much a "something Geko really wants in the game at some point" feature.
[*]The devs do want to eventually bring back a true exploration-type feature to the game. They need to find a smarter way to bring infinite exploration that is interesting and entertaining. Not happening in Delta Rising, though.

Still no small fleet to controll, ((
Sad to hear that it would have been the perfect time for that
as well as reintroduce exploration.
just hope that repeatable content will be any good, and not just a set of new query events
Nothing will be obsolete.. unless orders come down from the Politburo at the last minute - like the very last minute changes to Craft XP for the 20-hour project from 8 per minute to 5 per. And the immediate fixing of the 'bug' of multiple slotting of the same 20-hour. How long was that like that on Tribble. Where was the internal QA Testing Team? Was it not talked about in the Tribble Forums?
As an exaple, the B-29 is obsolete but the B-52 has been given many many upgrades so that it is viable 60 years later and will probable be in service to the 2040's - 85 years. Viable may be one thing but don't expect it to do the same kind of stuff or have the abilities of the B-2 Stealth Bomber.
By the way, I read that a suggestion posted by Suricata on how to upgrade existing ships through the use of Computer Core consoles was closed and pulled from the forums. Checked the FCT (can we mention the FCT) and saw nothing there related to this as being a forbidden topic unless of some convoluted interpretation of this was that it would be advocating a T5 of the [REDACTED]. Though I have seen people post that the restriction was tied to T5 so T6 is fair game - lol.

A huge thanks for putting this together. This is a huge help to people like me who don't have the time to sit through a video.
I am dubious on their plans of the new ship tier and I smell a huge cash grab coming for the ship upgrade, I hope I am wrong.
I have to agree.
This is more than helpful, especially for ppl. not used to speak english all day.
Many thanks!

So I'm flying a D'Kora. It's already a subpar ship compared to the Dyson ships and other top tier ships. Will it be possible to upgrade these lockbox ships so they get equal stats to the tier 6 ships?
"Nothing you have will become obsolete. Ships, gear, nothing." - CaptainGeko.
Well you can take a T1 ship toss MK xii gear onto it and fly at end game. Is it obsolete? No, you can do it. Is it effective absolutely not. for me I do hope that the statement means we will be able to upgrade our ships for NO or VERY little cost.
As for the rest of it, so far I like what I see. Doesn't mean I'll come out of my holding pattern just yet but its possible.
All stores sell things at a discounted rate (10%??)
The D'kora needs love as well.
*Only lockbox ship with no universal station
*Horrible turnrate and inertia for being classed a battleship
*Console setup makes little sense, 3 science slots for only having a Lt Sci station??? It's a BATTLECRUISER, it should be 4 Eng, 2 Sci, 4 Tactical

The only one imo that is attractive is the mogh the others that I own are rarely ever used just because it doesn't feel like trek especially those dyson ones.
I wouldn't call the ships Cryptic design themselves attractive.
Compared to the remaining kitbashes that Cryptic would need to base their ships off of (not the versions that are out there that ship modelers have spruced up, the actual studio models)? They are absolutely gorgeous.
Most of the ships that are left are literally just pieces of various ERTL models glued together with various highlighter pen parts from Office Depot thrown in. They were designed to be seen on a standard def screen for a second and a half, and most had giant holes cut out of them before they were filmed. At best, they are OK looking (New Orleans, which is a decent if odd design) but usually they are very awkward (Freedom, whose single engine is 50% longer than the saucer and 50% as wide), a lot were really, really ugly like the Yeager and the Curry that pretty much nobody would buy, even the people clamoring for them.

really? but then T5 ships would cost more in the end.... If T6 cost 3000 Zen
But..
T5 2500 zen + fleet upgrage 500 zen + T6 upgrade 500 zen = 3500 Zen and still does not have the T6 special abilities.
I see that T6 ships will have to cost more... i am thinking 3500 - 4500 zen.
