This is why I saved all of my crafting materials, and just held on to them. I am crafting up now, and its not really bothersome. Some of you are acting like they beat you with a whip to grind this?
Its a FTP, if there was not a grind in someway... we ALL WOULD be done in a matter of weeks and move on. This is the nature of the beast we deal with.
Therein lies the problem. Some brain child at PWE thought it a good idea to completely revamp the already super botched crafting system. Those of us who had max level crafters before have to start over at square 1 again. That is BS... This game has become a complete grind fest, with the reputation system.
PWE I hope you read these threads and realize that a duty officer does not make this right. And if you want this game to continue to succeed and grow, here's a heads up. Listen to your community. If you don't you'll end up suffering the same fate of SWG. That's Star Wars Galaxies, if you've forgotten what happened there, it's closed, because SoE didn't listen to the community. At least SoE didn't take away something that was already earned.
I'm ok with some of the new crafting system. The thing that really upsets me though is the drop rate for the very rare materials. I have spent 12 hours today grinding elite STF's, and what did I get from the approximately 20 reward boxes and 20 bonus boxes that I opened? a grand total of 4 very rare materials, all of them from bonus boxes. This is absolutely ridiculous!
Hey Cryptic, if you want us to take crafting seriously this needs to change. I propose instead of giving a box that has an extremely low chance of giving a very rare particle, handle it like you do the BNP's, Cybernetic Inplants, and Isomorphic injections. Give us one of the very rare particle associated with the mission, but make it a guarantee, not a "chance" of getting it. We would still have to grind for it but not to the point of frustration and, for a lot of people, abandonment of either the system of the entire game.

I agree wholeheartedly. The drop rate for the bonus box is fair. But the regular drop rate is way too low. I also calculated it will take me 60-65 days from the end of the weekend to make level 15. This is level 15 in one school on one character! If lucky in that time I can make maybe 2 or 3 things. Wow! I'm certainly not going to be flooding the market.
Additionally the blue mats are also too rare to actually use. If I did 3 or 4 blue mat craftings a few times a day it would cost millions a week to keep going to be able to craft something that costs a tiny fraction of what I spent. Let us craft large bats etc with the blues.
I do applaud introducing craylon to the game and the elachi mission is great as well.

"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
I wish someone would go to the convention and tell Cryptic how crappy the R&D is and the negative towards removing exploration.
Oh, I have to be more in depth because this would look like a rant.
1. Star Trek is about exploration in a random space of the unknown. Second star to the right. Foundry is not random and predictable. A procedual generated galaxy that is save as places are discovered would be a better system.
2. R&D, The UI still is kinda clickie and scrollie and adds many unncessary step if someone micromanage the DOFF. The older one had more information but easier to decipher.
3. How the hell someone gets lost in a exploration cluster(When it was live!).
I guess if Cryptic feels the forum is not a good place to hear complaints. I say just tell them directly your send a support ticket to Cryptic.

If the convention was near where I live I would tell that to there face
I havent logged in at all the last couple of days and don;t see a need to for the next few weeks either so think I will take a break until x2 is realeased and decide if this game is worth spending my time on.

Well, crafting weekend's almost over, so I'll add my $0.02.
The additional drops for STFs were nice. I think that I got more very rare materials from the bonus packs than from the regular drops.
Things weren't so rosy for my leveling character, mainly because of the problems running science/exploration missions. Most of her travels took her to places where either there were no drops (Nimbus), or what she found wasn't helpful. She actually ran out of uncommon materials.
Overall, the catalysts were nice to get, although I wouldn't use them until I hit 15 in a school. The bonuses on my end game characters were quite nice. The experience of a non-end game character wasn't nearly as nice. (The 10 dilithium on the nodes was a nice thing to get, but pretty inconsequential, especially coming off of a dilithium weekend.)
If normal crafting days all worked like weekend crafting, it would be more bearable. The VR drop rate this weekend should be the normal drop rate. As for the XP, it's a great improvement over the normal one. Unfortunately, Cryptics loves the long grind too much to lower it a bit.

Oh, all your level 20-30 toons will find them very useful.
Possibly for more than two days.

well done pwe ...
someone obviously thought ignoring the critizisim and instead waving a half rotten carrot in the players face for two days would solve things ...

I am away now from my pc for about 6 weeks for a rehab, and so I miss this all and some R&D school levels.
C'mon Trendy, you surely could sweet-talk the bosses to do that. And if it's not working, then Smirk should do the sweet-talking.

I stand corrected.
