Give us a second costume slot for Bridge officers. I'm always changing my BOFFs costumes and giving them an away team look. Will it ever be possible to have a second slot for BOFFs that we change on the fly.
I'd even want to go for BOFF costume changes at the cost of our captain's extra outfit slots. Of course though this may require a 'delete costume' option for practicality.
Costume slots for BOs has been requested since the beginning. The requests have been ignored.

Ohh yes this would be awesome. Currently I have my Fed BOFFs are all in The Wrath of Khan uniforms as those are awesome, but when I'm in the mood for a classic look, would love to be able to swith them to TOS Era Uniforms (also they wont look out of place on my bridge in the TOS uniforms as well [but that could be fixed if we ever got a ST2-6 Era bridge with crew wearing those uniforms]).

Hm... being able to have a second slot for BOffs would mean we don't have to save as many costumes and make as many trips to the Tailor if we want to change the look of our BOffs.
Since they established this standardized uniform then the second slot would be appropriate since the main would be your Odyssey uniform and the second will be your unform of choice.

Personally I want at least 4, one for the duty uniform, one for the tactical uniform, one for the dress uniform and one for MACO armor (for away missions that are basically attacking an enemy base or another type of major battle).
"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them." -Thomas Marrone
Why don't you create a default uniform for all your BOF, then create one for the away-missions too. I do that. Of course I have to visit the tailor to change them to what I want. So now I just create a look for BOF-TAC, BOF-ENG and BOF-SCI. These 3 groups are dressed differently to match what I wear base on the 3 BOF groups.
I'd support additional boff costume slots. As a suggestion - 1 free to give a "taste", then sell additionals in the store.
If they were working properly, I'd buy em.
I had honestly thought that when they took the armor visual toggle away, we were heading in that direction. Wish we were already there - having to go to a tailor to change between "peaceful" away team mode and "pew pew" mode is painful.
Honestly, I don't see a real pressing need for this. It would be nice, but I'm content having one outfit for my away team. I don't particularly care about the boffs I only see on my status screen. While I would probably get a bit more creative with outfits if this were available, it's not that big of deal to me. Asking the devs to set up a whole system to handle this is a lot to ask -- I don't think anyone's really ignoring the request.
There's also the elephant in the room that the current option to load just an outfit doesn't really work too well, if at all sometimes. I don't know about anyone else, but I make a lot of tweaks to my boffs' appearance. The thought out having to sync those changes across multiple outfits with the current load/save options fills me with dread.
I would dearly love to have a second (or third, or howevermany extra) costume slot for my BOffs! Granted, I have an excessive number of BOffs since I have a collection of mission specific ships...
How would these function though? Could we switch our BOFFs to them from their info tabs on out status window? Would we have to beam them down first? Or would they auto-switch depending on what our captain's outfit is?

The simplest solution would probably be to bring back the visuals toggle, and somehow tie it into that.
They shouldn't have removed the armor visual toggle for bridge officers to begin with.
We already know that Cryptic can put location restrictions on outfits (though imperfectly) as seen in the recent Swimsuit debacle.
So why not have 2 slots for BoFF's? One labeled "Uniform" and one labeled "Away Mission" Perhaps as a 'purchasable' item in tailor screen?.
You could then create your own Uniforms, for when you go to your bridge, but any BoFF that has a costume in the "Away Team" slot, will automatically swap to that outfit whenever you beam into a "combat" zone i.e. any zone where your powers are allowed to be used, such as New Rom or the Dyson BZ. So you would only need buy the extra slot for BoFF who you normally take to with you.
Give that Sci BoFF you always take with you the TOS Nurses Uniform

Since armor visuals(little eye icon) were removed - all the grinding I went through to equip my Boffs with Reputation-Armor for away-missions, was for nothing. (CRYPTIC!!!!!)
And yes I know that I can outfit my officers at the tailor with Rep-armor costumes, but I want them to wear the uniform while on board and proper armor during ground combat + I want to decide myself when to change my Boffs outfit.
And I do not want to visit the tailor, each and every time before beaming down to the ground battle zone - and during foundry missions - even that nonsense is neither possible nor desirable.
So, dear devs, give us at least a second outfit-slot for Bridge Officers.
I too have been wanting this feature for a very long time!
I'm aware that outfit changes at the tailor are now free, and one can save costumes for later (re)purchase, but I'd very much like to be able to change my BOff's outfits on-the-fly to suit the given situation.
Here are some details on how I'd like this to be implemented:
Purchasing / Monetization
- To make this easier for everyone, the BOff costume slot unlocks should be automatically included with any purchase of additional Player Captain costume slots (i.e. if a player buys four extra costume slots for his/her Captain, all of his/her BOffs also automatically gain four extra costume slots each)
- These unlocks should work retroactively for those who have already purchased Captain costume slots
- These unlocks should also apply to all future BOffs (i.e. if a player adds more BOffs and/or buys more BOff slots, the extra BOff costume slots should also be available to them as well)
Tailor Interface (Concept Art)
- In the Bridge Officers tab, instead of a grid simply showing each BOff and their single costume, the interface should be revised as follows:
- Each BOff is assigned to one row of the table
- On the far right of each row, is the BOff's name and head-only portrait
- On the left of each row are all the outfits created for that particular BOff, which can spill over into sub-rows if required
Status Window ("U" hotkey) (Concept Art)
- At the bottom of each Player Captain / BOff's overview screen, there should be an additional button called "Select Outfit" near the existing "Edit Record" and "Career Options", which opens up a drop-down menu listing all the costumes available for that particular BOff (much like the loadouts system for Starships)
Away Team Interface (Concept Art)
- On the top-left hand of the screen is the UI responsible for showing the current members and status of the Away Team. By right-clicking on the Player Captain's portrait, one can already change the Captain's costume on-the-fly
- This feature should also be extended for each BOff (i.e. right-click on a BOff portrait, click "Change Outfit", choose from list of options in pop-up)
Further arguments in favour of implementing this feature
- By opening up additional costume slots for individual BOffs, more players would be inclined to buy more costume sets from the C-store, or participate in Summer / Winter events longer in order to redeem more costume variants.
In other words, instead of a player grinding only just enough Lohlunat Favors to outfit their captain with only one type of swimwear, the same player will now want to play much longer in order to outfit their BOffs with different types of swimwear.
tl;dr - More BOff costume slots = more players wanting to pay ZEN for more C-store outfits / players participating in special events longer to earn costumes
- When this suggestion for additional BOff costume slots was raised in the past, some forum members argued that this would result in "too much data storage overhead for each player"; however, as for S9.5, STO is already adding overhead to support features like Starship Loadouts, Reputation Marks, and most of all, a separate R&D inventory.
There are certainly differences in the data / items being stored (i.e. a simple quantity value for marks or items with stats vs. a complete costume), but my personal belief is that additional unlockable costume slots for each and every BOff per player isn't too much of a stretch.
Laws of thermodynamics as applied to life: 0 - You must play the game. 1 - You can't win. 2 - You can't break even. 3 - You can't quit.
I love this idea. It can Benefit everyone (Fed/KDF/Rom) and it adds a bit more RP to the game.
I think Uniform and Away Mission are the first two you get.
When you get Admiral you unlock say a Dress Uniform.
And you can buy Blank slots for them. You can also assign a Blank slot to another Role.
I'd love it so if say I named my 4th uniform slot Armour and I switched my Captain to Armour it swapped every BOFF in the away team who had it to Armour. That way if I switch my Captain my BOFFs in the away team autoshift.
I'd also love the option for them to beam down already in Away Team outfits.
We're Admirals, surely we could using those new Dress Uniforms we got/designed to meet Ambassadors from new species.
I feel this would add a lot of things for the people who want it, and for those who don't they need to change/do nothing.
I was once DKnight1000, apparently I had taken my own name so now I'm DKnight0001. If I ask you a question it is not an insult but a genuine attempt to understand why. When I insult you I won't be discreet about it, I will be precise and to the point stupid.
Also supported. Although, less of an issue for KDF since their basic uniforms are pretty armoured to start with.
At the moment, the only way I can see you'd get around it is to have two copies of each BOff, and select which one you wanted each time. I've been contemplating doing this on my Fed toon so that the BOffs don't look stupid when going into a warzone.

I like this idea in general, and like the way you suggest it could be implemented even more.
I would gladly unlock boff costume slots if they were priced decently.
I'd rather it game me the option to create boff outfits that are linked to my character outfit. That way, when I change to my WoK, Omega, or Odyssey dress uniforms, my boffs would automatically change to match.
Of course this would mean a complete re-design of the tailor UI to allow for costume linking, so if it were to happen, it wouldn't happen anytime soon!

I'd get behind this if I thought Cryptic could competently implement it without breaking a dozen other more critical things. They still have bugs in the loadout system. They still have color palette bugs in costumes (especially Romulan stuff). They still have bugs that date back to the birth of the game. The more "extraneous fluff" they shoehorn into the game, the more broken essential gameplay elements seem to become.
I'm obviously going to be one of the few unwanted dissenting opinions here, but no amount of knee-jerk flame-trolling is going to alter the truth of this.

+1 the idea.
