I was curious if anyone has really had a chance to play with them, wondering if the proc is any good and if it might be worth using over standard phasers for ships like the Gal-X and Chimera...
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power
Waiting for prices to go down a bit more. Tried the ground versions though. I like the burst rifle best. Like an M14 stuck on semi-auto with an M203 grenade launcher underneath.
I like them very much, I am currently using 4 CrtDx3 DHC on my aquatic carrier. They are great for dealing with clusters of targets (they are fantastic for NWS for example).
4 DHCs on a carrier. . . no, it's turn rate isn't too high.
Coupled with helmsman and momentum and the Narcines already quite high turn rate, it is not a problem, so as much as I appreciate your "suggestion" my build works just fine, especially for my purposes.
How often are multiple targets bunched up within 1km of each other short of when they're GWed together? Don't seem like they'll be much more than a gimmick aside from NWS and CE.

In a sense, you don't want them bunched up. The more targets there are, the less damage each takes. It does the most damage from a Needle Burst to a single target - half that damage to two targets, a third to three targets, a fourth to four targets, and a fifth when there are five targets.
Note that they don't emit a "beam", rather it's a wavy line and they sound like a rubber band

I like them, it's a proc that isn't totally imba or TRIBBLE but has a nice and damage-wise and visually noticeable proc effect. They also look quite good, graphics and effect wise.
Yeah, on single targets, the biomatter proc works better. But the gimmick of distributing dmg with more targets in the vicinity defeats the purpose.
Because we all want to deal 60 points of damage to other NPCs from a lucky proc...
Not sure what the train of thought designing that was.
It is more than 60 extra damage, not sure where that number came from. I understand your personal preference is to the Bio-Molecular weapons, in regards to phaser damage weapons; but you seem to be taking it too far by posting false information.
As far as what they were thinking, it probably had something to do with people asking for a change to the regular phaser proc. While I can't say for sure, as I don't have ears in the office, but these weapons may be a compromise, thus keeping the phaser proc as is while introducing a phaser based weapon with an all together different proc.
I normally don't use one specific weapon type. I bounce between antiproton, disruptor, and plasma, depending on my mood. With the new proc on these weapons, I can had phasers to that list.
"I'm not big on telepaths myself. I'm not big on guns either. But if everyone else has them, I want to make sure I can get my hands on the biggest one I can."
I'll give 'em a shot on my Fleet patrol escort and see what they can do. I already use phaser DHC's so these look to me like being a bit more useful.
They are giving pure additional damage when they proc, as oppose to a disable that in most instances (especially PVE) is barely noticable.
Edit:
Been using them in the last couple of STF's and they are good fun. If you're lucky with the proc it's like launching a load of mini torps at the enemy. Worked a treat in CSE for cutting down the BOP and Raptor waves. They are only in 3's so the damage is not spread out too thinly.
Plus the effects and sounds are pretty funky/cool!
I got the pistol version as that was all I could find at the time. It does nice. The single shot does well and the other fire mode does good damage as well.
I hope to pick up a rifle version in the future to try it as well.

I am currently rebuilding my chimera into a bio molecular death machine. I just have to finish grinding out the warpcore, and shield. Should be ready by Sunday(hopefully) . I will try to post my results, after I take it for a test spin.
What are you talking about? Phasers are supposed to be blue. So if they were orange, you'd expect them to not sound like phasers, no? Because they'd be different.
Anyway, I tried the ground weapons. They're loads of fun. Grenade launchers, yes. The pistol less so, as it seems to do very little damage with its needle spread.
Sorry, I just...I really loathe the tendency of the fandom at the moment to treat TNG like it was the original, classic Trek. It was neither the original nor the best series. It was a shoddy rehash of TOS, and should be treated as such.

I was under the assumption, that phasers are supposed to be red. :P

Been playing STO since Open Beta, and have never regarded anything as worse than 'meh', if only due to personal standards.

No, Biomatter phasers are light-blue and sounds like an abbreviated thunder-clap when fired.
