I am not sure if the R&D system is for me this time around. I maxed it on my alts back when unrep materials were introduced. Thought that would be a good thing to do, now I find myself at ground zero and no real reason to go through it all again.

I will start out slow and non-committed till I get some feedback from others if it is worth it again. It seems there is some promise so I am optimistic.

Just the Aegis stuff or all the Level 15 items?

I can seem them leaving the Aegis set tradable but i'm surprised that the other top-level stuff is. Somewhat defeats the point of adding those unique items to crafting if it's not to entice people to actually use the new system.

The crafting system also gives you access to traits, those are not tradeable. So if you want to get everything out of Crafting, you need to do it yourself.

But not everyone needs to craft anyway. There is an Exchange for a reason!

Crafing can now be a way for people to earn EC - they sell valuable endgame gear, and eventually can use the EC to buy lobi, zen or lockbox items on the Exchange. This keeps the exchange alive and active and at every point, there is ar eason for someone (but not necessarily the crafter himself) to spend money on Zen. Just like Cryptic wants it to be.

    Why am I craftin?

I don't craft. I run daily assigments to keep the schools running. I intend to max them this way, and don't craft any single item. I don't want to waste my dil for this, if I want something I will buy it on ex.

What do you mean, dont you need as well components and materials to craft even the lower quality things?? or there are crafting projects available that dont need anything at all??

And what do you mean with using dilithium??? that is only an option if you want to finish asap the crafting projects, thats all.

I am not crafting, i am not doing anything with the crafting system, because its another way of grind. And since purple materials will be a pain in the axxx to get, i just prefer to see how cryptic change things from now to the next year, and i prefer not to be worried about another grinding session. I will never play for the only purpose of gathering materials and components for using on crafting lol. And it seems that that will be the only way to get purple materials.

The materials adquired should be derived from the normal game play, not stucked in specific qeues or only available in some instances. That is stupid. But well, its another strategy to force players to, eventually , need to buy a R&D pack to gather some purples.

Nothing else better to do. Thanks Cryptic.

LOL...another 9.5 season of grinding. This is to date the worse patch ever. Cryptic took away content (clusters and exploration) and replaced it with a pseudo DOFF system and MORE GRINDING. Unfortunately the grinding model is here to stay but what about SOME NEW CONTENT. Would be nice to throw a bone once in a while :D:D:D

running 20h projects that need only 1 material. dilithium is used for components for that mk xii gear.
there are a lot of materials on exchange. since white that are needed for 20h projects are about 100 EC for one you only need time to max crafting.

Given that the new Aegis set (I think) and the Rank 15 items (360-beam, Wide-Arc cannons, TR-116 etc) are bind on pickup - no, you won't. Everything else in the Crafting System is standard fare stuff you might get from loot drops.

Are you sure about that? I have so far been unable to find stats for the items. There are no pop-ups. If it is that way, it would destroy my only reason to level crafting. There's no way in hell I level different schools on different characters. I leveled crafting on two chars before, one Federation and one KDF for the different items. But this would be ridiculous.

Yes, it'll take time. And--as I pointed out to someone else on another thread--unless you have a terminal illness or a fetish for playing in traffic, you have time. What's your hurry?

Also, you keep using this phrase: "play the game properly." I do not think you know what it means.

I was looking forward to crafting but the new Doff/crafting interface is so bad, I refuse to. I have even stopped running DOff missions until it gets redesigned or reverted.

So we've had a couple days with the crafting system now, and it's become pretty clear that the action of crafting is pretty much a bad idea.

I think a lot of people on here complain about it, but the forums don't represent a a big part of the people playing, just the most vocal.

I'm doing it for a few reasons:

    1. Al Rivera said there will be a lot more coming to crafting, so I want to be leveled up in case i want a new shiny, and not have to do it all then.

    2. New toons. I mostly do the 20hr. but here and there i will pop out a full purple set of different lower levels, to hold onto for a new character. that way i don't have to buy them later.

    3. Why not? I'm finished with all 5 rep systems on my main, and almost on my 2nd charachter. so it gives me something to shoot for besides dilithium runs.

I'm crafting to pursue it as an end-game "career" because I enjoy this kind of stuff. I am also crafting to get stuff for myself, friends, and to sell.

The omni-directional arrays are definitely not bind on pick-up, there's already some on the exchange.

Really? Any disruptor beam arrays with 360 degree cone yet? How could that be? They couldn't have leveled that fast even with dilithium shortcut.

With enough dilithum, you can run the 6k xp project and just finish it instantly. It'd take serious dilithium, and probably a fair whack of real money, but it's possible.

To answer OP: to make EC, sell what I don't use and keep what I can use. New loots prices are so cheap that it will be one of the only way to make any significant amount of EC.

For me personally, there really isn't much interest in crafting. Maybe the tr-116 which doesn't function or probably even look like the one on the show. The Aegis set still seems sub par to most of the others out there, but I haven't really seen anything there worth while other than "it's new".
