New Loot Prices/Killing F2P

chromatychromaty Member Posts: 84 Arc User
Did anyone notice, what they did with the loot-prices? Before the patch, Ive had a hangar full of shields, deflectors from farming in Kerrat and some missions. Before the patch it had a value of maybe 3 mil. .. after the patch just 1 mil.

The prices for weapons are not considerably higher now, so its not really profitable anymore to go farming for ECs.

Last year the lockbox-key price in exchange was at 1,7 and 2,0 Mil ECs. The dil price betw. 123 and 130.

Look at the prices now.

Cryptic, you go a dangerous way!

Honestly you don't have to buy anything for this game. You can get everything for free even Zen! (Well free to you).

Also lowering the amount of EC floating around can lead to the exchange having lower prices. (More EC means higher exchange prices)

Also cryptic doesn't control exchange prices. The very act of farming EC (therefore creating money) will always drive prices up. As long as credits are being printed (farmed, created from nothing) inflation and exchange prices will continue to go up.

This will do nothing to bring down the cost of items on the exchange what so ever. The only way of lowering the prices of items is to make them more accessible. Look at anti proton beam arrays for example they used to cost a fortune, now because they're readily available from the "Fluid dynamics" mission and aren't bind on pick up therefore able to be sold the price has dropped considerably.

And I dont rely on trading in vendor trash to make EC, but it will hit new players into the game.

And cryptic does have a part to play in controlling prices on the exchange, since its they themselves that control the drop rate of items and the availability of certain now defunct doff/reward packs
Oh, it's not broken? We can soon fix that!

All I can see happening is the Exchange will become flooded with everything that used to go to a Vendor.

Darn, every good game I find always go to $#%^ in a few years because of devs. Already searching for my next MMO.

I find it funny how everyone has better ways to farming EC than farming EC by drops, but no one says anything. Well whatever other ways you guys using will be discovered and nerfed. A matter of time... Using money is not an option. Forcing people to use money is also not an option.

I hope the price of everything on the exchange triple or ten fold. Then when people can't get good stuff, you'll see a decline in players. It's going to play out great. If you guys wanna kill the game so bad-- just remove the federation faction. It would save you a lot of time. Better yet charge people 100 zen to log on, and if they disconnect, it's another 100 zen.

Just saying... If you're gonna do it, do it right.
The dress is gold and white. Over 70% people says so. When viewed from a certain screen angle it appears blue and black. The dress displayed on amazon is a blue and black dress, but it's not the same dress in the picture. If you're seeing blue & black you're slightly colored blind. A normal upright screen = white and gold.

No. I mean that just isn't going to happen. Nobody is going to buy your vendor trash on the Exchange because they can get their own in minutes.

Yeah, the Risa Summer Event was a pretty easy way to make some ECs. I made about 150 million causally doing the events.

The Winter Event will be the next easy farming opportunity. From now until then though I'll just make do selling the random loot drops.

Me too, even sold off a bunch of the crafting mats. One Characters worth anyway. Left me with 9 more to convert and sell.

    ..

There are many many ways to generate a good income, ec farming was always the easiest but the worst (and ineffective) way, it generated "hollow EC", EC with no counter-value in usefull items.
And if you expect a serious guide how to make money... what do you think can the guide writer do afterward? Right, he can look for new job, because suddenly a bazillion F2P "freeloaders" will compete with him in "his" business.

Find it out by yourself! Be imaginative! Don't be one of the players who are totally dependent on guides for everything!
Beta, LTA, CE, Multiple preorder Versions, all Addon Packs except AoY, nearly all KDF/Rom and ~50% of all Fedships, over 25 LockboxShips, Endurer of Atari's "Year of Hell", but...

I use to make 5 million EC an hour. It was hard work. Now I no longer have that option. I wish I could just make EC they way I wanna make EC. Don't force me to do dumb TRIBBLE I don't wanna do. That's when I hit the uninstall button.

Hard work = good rewards. Not anymore. Now I have to resort to using underhanded limited tactics to make EC. Darn shame too. Guess I'll turn into a scam artist or something

    LOL I'm joking.

1000k zen? Damn even us lifers only get 500 zen a month. :(

    Q. How many lifers does it take to keep a F2Per happy? A. Two I'm assuming...

Erm it won't. You seem top be missing a very basic understanding of how money works in MMO's,

Less EC farmed = less EC available to spend = Less people buying at high prices = prices go down to get people to buy things

Prices won't go up, they'll go down.

eh in about 2 years of steady play I have a grand total of 150 mil. I do have a lot of dilithium and if the price ever goes below 150 again I will dump it for keys and get the new carrier and be bankrupt again! woo hoo.

I'm not so sure about that. Like the US economy the rich have bs money to spend so the prices for rich things will keep going up while the poor may be able to hit the dollar store.

It'll act like that for a little while, until the stocks of EC start getting low, then it will balance out again because people won't pay high prices if they can't earn it back quick enough.

Generally the way MMO economies work is people use the time spent farming to gauge the value of the currency, so once those with stocks of EC start depleting them and have to start farming them again their opinion of the value for EC will go up and their expectations of how much they should spend per item will go down and after some time the price will have to follow suit or people will be sitting on stacks of TRIBBLE on the exchange not selling.

All hes saying is that with the number of people in game, posting a guide on how to earn EC, is economic suicide....could it have been phrased better *shrugs* yeah

And yeah, even us lifers only get 500 zen per month, and FYI someone can be filthy rich in game, and not spend a penny (they just have to spend time figuring out the system, instead of going on the forums to insult people who have more EC than them)

LOL, im assuming your joking here, and just posting the most common complaints, truth is, without Subs+Lockboxes+Lifers this game would have gone under a LONG time ago, and F2Pers buying zen with dil actually is good for the game too
