Are you one of the factory/farm workers? Do you farm Dilithium so that Cryptic has a readily available supply that feeds ZEN sales?
Do you work in content creation? Are you a Foundry author generating content so that players that might otherwise have nothing to do will have something to do since so little content is provided by Cryptic?
Are you an educator? Do you update STOwiki, provide information on another site or forum, answer questions on the forums here, etc, etc, etc - since so little information is provided by Cryptic themselves?
Do you work in communication? Are you tied into multiple aspects of PWE/Cryptic's information outlet, providing information from various sources to other sources when Cryptic neglects to do so?
Are you some sort of officer of the peace? Do you keep an eye out for rogue threads that could get out of hand because Cryptic does not have enough official and volunteer moderators to do the job themselves?
And the list can go on and on...
Do you ever sit and wonder at times just how much the playerbase is actually responsible for doing things one might expect needing to be done with some form of hobbyist project but not with a game run by a professional game company?

*facepalms* we dont need another "cryptic doesnt do enough" thread
lol
Virus straight callin' em out! I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who would post in this thread agreeing with the absurdity of PWE/Cryptics business model before it gets closed.

Go play EVE or SWTOR and telll me cryptic's business model is bad. This game is one of the best FTP models out there.
None, I just maintain my 35:65 kills to deaths ratio in Ker'rat...
Would be pretty nifty if Cryptic tracked that sort of stuff, eh? Guess the closest we'll come to that would be...oh...Hilbert's Leaderboard. What kind of employee as a player would he be then, eh?

Well those two games are not my cup o' tea but I will tell you I've been playing DOTA2 which is an incredibly successful F2P that pretty much blows STO out of the water and puts Cryptic to shame on all accounts. It also manages to not be pay to win, be relatively balanced, has little to no grind, and still be fun and super profitable! Wow!
You may say well, STO is a MMO and not a MOBA, ya I know, but Valve does a much better job with it's community and it's game in general. Thank god we have options on other games to play!
For some on this forum, it is probable All of The Above! Don't forget trolling all criticism and blatant fanbois ism.

I'm a community manager! I'm excited by the new content while also being unable to control what or when any of it actually comes to pass! I'm jazzed and hopeful and interested in your opinions while having no control over actual content development or timetables whatsoever!
...is this information available on the forums? Was there an announcement here? No...hrmmm, was this just a case of a player having to disseminate information that should have been posted here on behalf of Cryptic instead of them doing it themselves...?
what part would i be? the person accessing the forums with a plastic looking black sword with keys sticking out and a cable attached and waving around with a usb connector using my fingers to sharpen up the sword and then whispers towards the stange looking sword calling it "my precious!". it also happens to be true.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
Wow Virusdancer is really pi$$ed off!! I would say make a comment in the doom thread - but since your are not being sarcastic - well as you would say____ MEH and an extra bit of Meh:P

Oh, but I CAN chat-ban you or send you a warning that can lead to a perma ban! So there's that!!
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

Honestly, I get the Dil farming thing. Been that way forever - cool with that. I get the answering questions folks have about the game. That's the majority of my posts - cool with that. I get Cryptic's stance on STOwiki - players definitely can maintain that far better than Cryptic can, without having to invest payroll into having somebody to do that which would take away from payroll for a dev, an artist, etc, etc, etc - cool with that. I get the great opportunity that the Foundry provides - cool with that.
How information comes from Cryptic...that it has to be hunted down from multiple sources, that it is oft unclear, creates all sorts of problematic misinformation, and the rest...where that's left up to the players to try to sort out...yeah, that ticks me the Hell off.

I play rift, hell of a ftp program they have. best game on the market if you ask me at this given time.. the highest quality, its f2p, and it has some of the best graphics out there imho. not to mention, it has great content.. they don't just release items for sale, or create time sinks to make getting an item ingame suck, trying to get you to buy it instead.
also, cryptics free to play model "used" to be awesome.. but ever since they pulled their stunt with the 4th year anniversary, it has started to go down hill. its not the same system it once was. which is a shame, cause it "was" the best ftp model out there..
now you find more quality in games like rift, dota 2, tera, and with games like everquest next and star citizen, and a few other ftp models coming out, its only gonna make cryptic slip more..
ill admit, cryptic does not make you purchase or buy anything.. and they do release their very mediocre (compared to other games) playable content for free. however, each year, they make it suckier and suckier to earn things in game.. preying on people to spend money over investing time. their "playable content" has become grindier and grindier to support making it suck to grind for ingame currencies.. which is hurting the game in the long run..
sure, some fe's come out here and there.. but there is not a good balance of fun, well built and thought out content to mass produced, quickly built grind fests that make you just open your wallet to get what ever it is your trying to get..
again, not saying they make you, but they have gotten pushier and pushier and more brazen, and less worried about letting people see it than ever.

Hrmm, can you direct me to the other threads that I somehow missed?

Which makes me more of a professional than their real CMs
What a cryptic statement...hrmmm...
And yet, somehow, I never get fired, even though I'm not the boss's kid.
Could it be that the basic premise of this thread is in some way flawed?

Are you waiting for a dev blog today for all the awesome that is supposed to hit tomorrow?
Don't...
