Official Feedback Thread: Bonus Marks Weekend Event (Now Ended)

We are running a special weekend event where you can earn bonus Marks by playing content throughout the game! This event runs from 6/26 at 10AM PDT until 6/30 at 10AM PDT.

During the event, content that provides Marks (Fleet or Reputation) will reward a 50% (1.5x) bonus above normal amounts – this bonus is available for all content that rewards Marks.

    I wonder, will the boxes that award marks you get from turning in risian birds and feather monkeys also be affected?

    and if so will boxes you haven't opened yet be affected as well?

    I'm not sure on the boxes you haven't opened yet will be affected, but I'm pretty sure that the risan animals will count since the even is still going on.

    it'd be cool if they did, would help get plenty of rep marks stockpiled for when my ferengi alt reaches level 50 (cause i have about 15 or so of those boxes in her inventory right now waiting to open them x3)

    They should yes. I had some saved up from last year's summer event and opened them during the last marks event a few months back, they all gave the 50% bonus marks.
    Join date is wrong, I've actually been around since STO Beta.
    True alters don't have a "main". Account wide unlocks for all unique event rewards!!

    YAY extra marks! Perfect timing, too. I've got some feathery and furry mark boxes...er...birds and monkeys about to hatch.

    Tomorrow, the sands of Risa shall run red with the blood of countless small feathery and furry things, sacrificed on the altar of my rep grinds....

    Assuming those mutant monkeys and stuff have red blood, that is. Well, I'll find out tomorrow.

    (What was that? Conservation? Endangered species? Oh, don't pester me about these trivialities.)

    I will never sneeze at more marks..., but how about a bonus week on anomalies so we ca get more of these (especially rare traces) so we can be ready for the big change in the crafting system. If your not going change the lousy exchange rate from traces to (random chance) rare blue material then at least give a week of bonus to get more of these traces.

    I'm glad yall put it back. And good timing too as my Romulan just got done with Risa. So I can make good use out of these points. My Fed and KDF can get done with their Reps. And my Romulan can get points for some gear from the Romulan Rep.

    Bonus week + 100 mark rep bonus items = a lot more dilithium next month during the bonus dilithium turn-in event, excellent! Sadly I only made about 1 million dilithium last go around with the bonus mark event followed by the bonus turn-in event, I plan to make 2 million this time! It would be really really awesome if you guys had a bonus dilithium drop item which would give +10% or +15% dilithium for STFs, or assignments, etc for a hour or two as a drop from the next lockbox. (hint, hint), and of course, make it stackable with the bonus dilithium turn-in event

    So I have to wait until 1pm EST to start farming today... Right during the middle of the US Soccer match? This is an attempt to pull Americans away from cheering on our team! Well I won't fall for it Cryptic. You may be based out of Seattle but this just proves that Washington really is part of Canada! I believe that we will win!

    Just turned in both a monkey and an epohh and no bonus marks were applied... Wondering if this is a glitch or just a big FU to the players that put the time in before the event....

    The items themselves don't say anything new (because then they'd have to make new icons), but when you try to use one, you'll see the increased Marks on the 'choose what you want to use them on' screen.

    Good thing I saved up the last 8 days or so of stuffing birds and monkeys into the Mark Grinder. :D

    I was wondering is it just for the mark boxes that you get during this event or any mark boxes that you open?

    Yes, when you turn in your birds and monkeys the marks are affected. :)

    Any. The mark boxes I stockpiled in anticipation of this event all got 50 % more than they normally would have had.

    So for the next event, remember to keep your daily bonus marks boxes stockpiled and try to live on the regular marks. (At least for stuff where the daily is the bigger reward - Infected Elite for example the base reward is higher than the daily bonus.)

    And I strongly suspect - any mark boxes you got this weekend will only have the extra rewards this weekend.

    Why do you assume the birds and monkeys get killed when you sell them? I would figure they find a new home somewhere.

    so of teh 23 queues that give fleet marks or choice of marks a total of 5 of them have anyone playing. So where the h is everyone? Last time we had one of these weekends I could run queues non stop but now it's a complete pain to even get one filled. :confused:

    insights from the forum crowd?

    My guess is that it's still a matter of reward vs. time spent. Since the Bonus Marks are applied to everything, it's not likely to alter what folks are playing. You're probably seeing...

    Fleet Marks: Defera Invasion Zone, (Federation/Klingon) Fleet Alert, Colony Invasion, Starbase Fleet Defense, (Federation/Klingon) Starbase Incursion
    Omega Marks: ESTFs, Defera Invasion Zone (as an afterthought w/the Daily Bonus)
    Romulan Marks: Risa, Tau Dewa Patrol, New Romulus, maybe something else (if only for the Daily Bonus, most of the queues have too low a base reward threshold to be worthwhile)
    Nukara Marks: Crystalline Catastrophe (Elite)
    Dyson Marks: Voth Ground BZ
    Undine Marks: Undine Space BZ, Undine Infiltration (Elite)

    ...popping up. The ones that have dilithium as well as Marks are likely to pop even more often, and of course cross-factions also have an edge. For the rest, we have the Summer Event and checking out what's on Tribble for S9.5. Then there's the folks that were excited by the announcement of the crafting revamp, dove straight into the alpha version of S9.5 on Tribble, and were disappointed by what they found... they probably aren't flooding the queues at this time.

    So yeah, as far as Fleet/Choice of Marks queues, there are pretty much 5-6 with worthwhile rewards compared to the alternatives. Otherwise, the best rewards come from non-queued activities... though that doesn't necessarily mean non-grouped. Plus, once you've finished a cycle of the Fleet Mark queues that are efficient enough to run, you can move on to the Rep Mark queues while the Fleet Mark queues finish their cooldowns. Thus, only those few being played, just like normal.

    Oh, and it is summer, so some folks might be going outside in real life. That would cut down on the number of folks playing too.

    Yeah those are the ones I would expect to be filling too how ever the only ones that are are the fleet alert and Crystaline Catastrophe Elite. Colony Invasion, Starbase Fleet Defense and Starbase Incursion are dead. I've only found 1 SFD to run in the last 36 hours between 5 toons.

    I wish it was summer...all it does is rain in MN. LOL

    If you're on the KDF side of things, try subscribing to the "rex fashions" channel. It's set up for KDF social/grouping purposes, and the channel founder likes to organize runs for some of the bigger PvE's like Starbase Fleet Defense, The Big Dig, etc. when he can gather enough folks. "KDFdefera" is another handy one, since you don't see KDF players standing about Defera as often as Fed; more of a pure grouping channel, so less chat. Fed side, I generally don't need a grouping channel to find a team for much, so I can't help there. You might check the STOWiki Global Channel Directory to see if any of those are helpful, though the one that caught my eye was "REDALERT" since it is organized around Events such as this Bonus Marks Weekend.

    I wish they'd allow this about once a month. Or some similar activity that boosted marks, but was perhaps capped to avoid exploiting. These Bonus marks Weekends are appreciated though!

    Think the summer event is the main thing since a lot of fleet and people may be maxed out they may be grinding marks for the swimsuits and stuff

    I really would like to see this event extended through to the end of next week. Being out of town, I have missed out and the weekend of the 4th would offer up more time for people to spend grinding.
