I'm not sure. A part of me is thinking that gold items are better than ultraviolet, and definitely more rare. My guess would be like "master" level crafting. When you get to max crafting, you have access to a few gold level items. That's purely a guess on my part.
Oh I saw it. But have you heard about the recent Priority One interview CaptainGekko did about this being a WIP and it's not being complete yet?
That is the main part we need people to know about.
On to spread the news to other threads!
~CaptainSmirk
The Patch Notes did state that it was a WIP... the thing is, the structure itself is part of what leads to many of our concerns. Maybe if there were a section on elements to be implemented in later stages the response may have been somewhat less... appalled. Or more appalled, depending on what is/is not coming... we'll see. In any case, better communication within your own forums rather than via third party sites might help as well.
Plus side, you were looking for bugs and for us to provide feedback... and we gave feedback. Boy did we give feedback.
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.

Gold is unique rarity, like the Tribble that awards 5 Dil an hour.
And agreed - comments made in a podcast elsewhere are a far cry from actually engaging with us and our concerns here.
Hey everyone I was just thinking about the new 9.5 that is coming out and I know later down the road there will be a season 10 and I know this is off topic but I had some ideas to run threw cryptic's mind. I was wondering if they can, Make the fed costume that Christopher Pike had on in Star Trek into darkness. I really like those costumes they had and i thought that it will be really cool if they put that in STO. Also I would really love to see the exact replica of the vengeance class ship that was in star trek into darkness as well as the bridge that was in there as well. I just think it would be a really cool if cryptic can do that when they put out season 10. So I hope they are listing and if any body agrees with me please help by putting the word out as well. Live long and prosper
Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.

It's a nice idea, and the uniform could very well be made for STO since the uniform was in use prior to the point of divergence created by JJ. The ship and bridge came after the timeline had been altered, though, so we probably won't see the Vengeance... per Memory Alpha regarding Admiral Marcus: "Following the destruction of Vulcan in 2258, Marcus began seeking ways to militarize and better defend the Federation. In particular, he foresaw war with the Klingon Empire as inevitable. Section 31 discovered the SS Botany Bay, and Marcus revived Khan Noonien Singh, recruiting him under the name John Harrison to design weapons and ships." Vulcan still exists in STO, and Kirk was the one that shouted, "Khaaaan!!!" in our side of the whole Hobus thing

Captain Smirk, maybe you don't know, but in the past when a Cryptic Dev was going to be featured in a podcast, article, etc - That feature was promoted by someone at Cryptic (usually the customer rep). They would start a thread in the Star Trek Online forums and link to the podcast/article's site and give a big HEADS-UP! This would trigger the Dev Tracker and everyone could learn about it.
Please do this again. Thank you.
Yeah I was wondering why there was no interviews in months. Usually like you said they were posted/promoted. That is pretty much how I would go to their site because usually if its not an interview with a dev I rarely ever go to their sites.
So basically with the ball getting dropped along the way there is no telling how many interviews and such I haven't heard thinking it was a complete comm break lol.

actually, since the first time we saw pike in uniform was after the kelvins desruction, which created the timeline change, so it cant be used in STO.
Also, the Avenger is the closest you will ever get to the vengance class, as thats what the avenger was inspired by.
It said in the patch notes, when it first hit Tribble, that it was not in a final state - that it was a work-in-progress. There were features mentioned that did not exist. It was dropped to Tribble over a month before the release. Redshirt was brought up to handle Holodeck patches in the interim since they wouldn't be coming from Tribble. They both directly and indirectly told folks what it was...and...people still flew off the handle.
"Why didn't Cryptic tell us this? Why'd we need to find this out in a podcast?"
Cryptic did tell you...it was right there. Some folks saw it, they tried to point it out, but they were either mocked or ostracized. So much misinformation stated getting spread, folks didn't even bother looking at what was actually there, they just started repeating the misinformation - and - yeah...it made for an interesting weekend...meh.
Let's be clear, though - not an expert, but the redone doff interface is a huge overhaul, the abilities of certain player-cash-purchased ships seem to be neutered, and the removal of the exploration clusters is a 'big picture' design decision. So as much as it is a WIP, these changes are not only indicative of a direction the update seems to be taking, they are also a gigantic amount of coding work that has been done.
To say that the changes will be 100% rolled back if the playerbase hates them, or to say that player feedback will constitute a major role in implementation... well, it seems naive, and if I was Cryptic, and this was actually the case, then in the future, I would stop wasting money on efforts that the players do not want, and instead ASK the players what changes would be welcomed, rather than do hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of coding only to have to redo it when the players told me I was 'out of my noggin'.
So I don't think the 'kvetching' this weekend was without merit - I think it was a reasonable (if loud) response to some *frightening* changes in the parts of the game that most people agree were not only not broken to begin with, but some of the better designed interfaces and features.
If there are future plans to mitigate/redirect the effects of this set of changes, it might be a good time to drop some hints now. Otherwise, a large part of the playerbase may be irrevocably alienate by these changes.
Please reconsider ARC. Please make it optional, at the least. PLEASE.
It seems the vast majority of your most active players (forum regulars) hate the idea... and while that's a small subset of the playerbase, I think it's an important constituency.
THE PLAYERS DO NOT WANT THIS.

As no info of such interview was posted by you or Trendy, no, I couldn't have heard about it.
Sadly as there's no transcript, however, I probably won't get much or any info from it.
I know the current interface is a work in progress. It will invade the 'In progress' and 'Completed' tabs in the doff window as well. That's sadly nothing good on the horizon.
And I'm sorry to say I don't have much trust in CaptainGekko, either.
EDIT: Maybe some of the Devs could have gotten on the forums and help AdjudicatorHawk (poor lad was alone and has gotten sick meaning no interaction at all) explain why changes were made so we can give you better alternatives to currently proposed UI.
EDIT2: I realise now I have actually heard of this interview yesterday, not thanks to GMs, however. That still doesn't change the post you were answering to was posted well prior to all that.
