The changes to the doff system were more extensive than I had anticipated. You should start an official feedback thread about it. Here is my initial feedback.
oh and crafting being more doff gambling? that's TRIBBLE, role of the dice TRIBBLE. i max level it, run a ultra rare item project with the but load of materials i need, and theres a chance i'll get some blue MKXI? you have got to be kidding. the best part about the rep system is you get exactly what you pay for. this gambling TRIBBLE is exactly why i wont touch lock boxes
If this is the way it's going to work, it's dead on arrival, for me at least.
Why gamble my dil, when I can save a bit more and get what I paid for from the Rep or Fleet stores?
I was hoping crafting my own gear would give me more control over what I'm getting, not less.
No offense, but the new DOFF UI is simply horrible. It's big, clunky, and searching for a specific assignment is a lot more difficult.
I'm forced to agree.
The crafting UI, now that I've played with it for a few more minutes, is very frustrating. Perhaps I don't have the patience for crafting, but I don't like the workflow. I'll explain the steps, as I think that will illustrate what I dislike about it:
1. I open the DOFF menu.
2. I click over to the R&D tab.
3. I see my current projects, taking up most of the real estate on the page. To the left, I find the different R&D "schools." I click on Beams, which I'm working on building up. I can only get a good sense of my progress by mousing over and waiting for the tooltip.
4. I am confronted by a large number of oversized project options, through which I need to scroll. They don't seem to be logically ordered, or divided into categories of any particular consequence. Alphabetical listing seems counter-intuitive here.
5. I click on a component to craft (a focusing lens), hoping it's something I need. I can't tell unless I go through to attempt to craft a beam array that I actually want.
6. I change the doff that the system chose (a rather infirm looking uncommon Romulan Fabrication Engineer) to a more appropriate very rare doff. This involves a bit of scrolling to find the one I want.
7. I note the low critical chance with dismay, laugh at the idea of using a catalyst, and start the task.
8. Instead of bouncing to an overall status screen, or back to the component crafting menu for beams (which I came from), the UI gives me an oversized countdown for this trivial project, with an even more oversized "Finish Now" button, which demands my dilithium to travel through time. No, sir. Nope. Not even a little.
9. When the countdown completes, I click "Collect Result."
And that's the process to create ONE (1) component. I can't queue multiple components.
Let's fast forward, assuming that I intend to create a mk VI phaser beam array for my vice admiral, since that's all he's entrusted with. I feel a little like Magneto, given a plastic spork. To do this, I'd need to craft six components, each of which require the nine steps above.
Then, I need to do a little gambling.
There is, using a purple doff, with a base crafting skill of 20 (still a noob), only a 3% chance of getting a purple beam array. I know what you're thinking. "We dare not trust HIM with the power of a mk vi PURPLE beam array! Perish the thought!" There is, on the other hand, a 40% chance of getting a common, which I got.
So, after SIXTY-THREE (63) steps and a little over an hour (had I waited), I got a mk vi common beam array. Needless to say, I'm not too jazzed. That doesn't even include the time it would've taken to gather the materials for crafting the components to craft the beam array.
Dil store had such ludicrous prices, it was not a competition to anything.
20k for purple items.
now you pay 20k for a chance for purple items, though usually you'll be getting blues or even greens i guess, so anything you make will most likely go right out to vendor or on exchange.
oh, and if you think you can get stuff from the rep stores, if you want romulan plasma, it went up to 38-47k dil per item, depending from your fleet i think.
doesn't that sound fun?
Now clowns, that's another story. They scare the crap out of me.
We fight them too. Entire armies spilling out of Volkswagens.
We do our best to fight them off, but they keep sending them in.
Thank you. Sorry about the 3rd question, but I was kinda expecting an STO team member to answer. These answers are as good though, I don't have Tribble patched yet.

I was tempted to say "No, unless you call getting a common a failure"
Really hoping that the long awaited Exploration revamp comes in Expansion 2, just not sure why Exploration has to go away entirely before the new version is ready. Sure, the missions get a bit same-y, but Exploration and First Contact missions were one of the big draws for me to get this game in the first place. Especially now the Fed/KDF war's over, surely Starfleet has more time on its hands for a bit of good old fashioned boldly going?
Does anyone remember when we used to be explorers?
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
This character is why I don't play my Romulan any more. Tovan Khev is NOT my BFF! Get him off my bridge!
No offense, but the new DOFF UI is simply horrible. It's big, clunky, and searching for a specific assignment is a lot more difficult. Also, it's difficult to search for a specific commendations mission. For example exploration, military, espionage.... because it's all together, and only the small picture can differentiate them.
Finally, when you select your DOFF, currently it's a nightmare. I can't see their traits, quickly search for the ones I'm looking for (using filters), etc.... All I have a is a list of DOFF, with absolutely no informations except for the rarity, name and +X crafting skill.
Exactly what I thought. Assigning the most suitable officer is no longer possible since you do not see it's traits anymore.
I pledge for keeping the current old DoFF UI. There is nothing wrong with it and it is much more user friendly!

Yeah, guys, can cannons get some love too? +Dmg trait for cannons too please. Way too much Beam buffs from you guys of late Some of us LIKE cannons too you know.
I'm definitely open to changing either trait. Turn Rate with cannons = increased Uptime = increased effective DPS - that was the source of that particular stat coming in. If it doesn't prove effective enough, we can either amp up the value, or redesign the trait - it's intended to be a ~5% damage increase.

[*]Trait: All of your ground weapon attacks penetrate 10 armor rating.
How does this work? Can we get the math?
That ability is called Armor Penetration. It means that you ignore up to 10 Points of Armor the target possesses. It's not a Damage Resistance debuff. Armor Penetration can't reduce the amount of Armor points of the target below zero. It's also useless if the target doesn't have any Armor points.

Trait: On activating Beam skill, gain 2% Beam damage for 20 sec. Stacks x3.
you can only activate 1 beam skill every 15 seconds at the very most, faw 20. in that time period, how exactly do you stack this? try something like, on activating any offense skill, tac, eng, or sci. EPtW, DEM, EWP, AP, TBR, VM, FBP, TB, tach beam, CBR
Trait: On activating Cannon skill, gain +1 Turn Rate, +1 Inertia for 20 sec. Stacks x3.
same stacking problem. this is a game were the top end escorts operate at around 70 turn rate, and inertia scores range from 18 to 80. these are worthless, invisible magnitudes. increasing your inertia rateing is NOT a buff past 40 or so unless you can maintain an over 50 turn rate.

Heh, and I found the current prices too high to bother with.
The only good change on Tribble is the addition of inventory slots for crafting materials. But given how crafting itself doesn't seem viable, it's not of much use.
Everything else seems to be a change for the worse: Doff UI, Cluster removal, Sweeping changes in prices, ...
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class. Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider. Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.

The timer on early stacks is refreshed if you activate a second ability. At t=0, you have 1 stack. At t=15, you gain a 2nd stack. At t=30, you are fully ramped up, and you can maintain the 3-stack for as long as you cycle abilities.

We adjusted some core price variables in this build. It's possible that you'll see unintended cascading changes. I didn't do the economy stuff, so I can't say for sure, but this sounds very much like a bug to me.

I shall test this when I get home... +1 to the Dev team on the crafting revamp, nice... Still no kudos as I've yet to test this out, but we shall see soon enough...

They darned well better be. This is not going to go well for you guys otherwise.
- A laborious, tedious gamble of a crafting system
- Screwed up DOff UI
- Complete loss of the exploration clusters and the non-DOff missions associated with them which makes it harder to get materials, cuts off a Dil source, negatively impacts your already underwhelming Diplomacy system -and- marginalizes the special abilities to two different ships.
If you were to jack prices up on us in addition to all of that the screaming would be lound, long and thoroughly justified.
Star Cluster maps are no longer available to access for all factions.
The associated Exploration missions have also been removed.
Captains can still conduct Duty Officer assignments related to these maps by flying to the appropriate border and interact with the special Duty Officer Assignment button at each cluster's location.
*snip*
While I haven't used the Star Cluster stuff in a long time, a lot of that is due to how bugged they'd often be, and usually left that way. So color me disappointed that they're being straight up removed with no proper replacement announced or hinted at yet.
Frankly, I'm tired of queueables, I prefer *going* to locations, so I don't want to see more of the game removed to make this, as someone put it, a "menu-only" kind of game where we sit in ESD/First City/New Romulus Command and just spam the same handful of queues until the cows come home. Eventually there'd be no *game* to play, just a menu screen and a "press to win" button.
This game needs a proper replacement for exploration. I used to enjoy doing the First Contact stuff and doing random Star Cluster missions, but they have to be maintained, expanded on, and given some love.
So unless you guys have a replacement incoming that *isn't* another instant-gratification queueable, this'll remain a disappointment.

So I may just be an idiot but I can't seem to figure out how you turn the old stuff...I just transferred over with a large amount of my fleets materials but can't turn it in someone got a suggestions?

well this is a new way of doing things. 1 problem, FAW will never see more then 1 stack, because unlike BO, or the cannon skills, it has a 20 second system cooldown, not 15

Double click materials, brings up a trade in store, like with clicking on lobi.

Put one into your regular inventory and then double click it.

Had posted this in another thread...
For now you have different options on what you can do (PvE only) :
* Exploration
* Dailies (including mining)
* Queued Content
* Episode Replay
It basically removes all random content from the game.
