I wish some ships had versions for each tier.... so you could use them all the way thr=ugh your career. like the vet ships... super special ships, that you cant use most the time. I'd love it if i could fly my vet ship from level 1 to 50. even if i had to dismiss/reclaim it every 10 levels.
Oh , I really like that idea. I could just see all my sci officers still flying that wonderful Nova.
My mother always told me to walk away from a fight, The Marines taught me how.
3 pack? Oh no no no, you're thinking in such small terms. Cryptic doesn't do that anymore. It's all about 9 pack ships now. 3 for every faction. Save money by buying them all!
Most likely, It will have been a few months since the last release of a three pack (Dyson ships).
I would even suspect that they'll do something like the Dyson ship, where they make the same ship for all factions, just with a different skin. If they do that, then I want to see some sort of frigate carrier. Not because I want to fly it, but because I want to see the forums explode because the feds are getting another toy that used to be unique to other factions.
I'm interested to see what the "Legacy Pack" of Expansion 2 is going to be. The ship artists have been busy/distracted with something this year(there are more ship artists now, yet there have been very few ship releases)..
Personally, I just want to see a new KDF raptor and perhaps a Romulan Science Ship before Expansion 2 lands.
It's not just about models - it's also about stats, BOFF layouts, console layouts, etc, etc, etc. There's only so much they can do there. They're doing more 4x BOFF. When will they do 3x? Would they go 6x with multiple Ensigns? Etc, etc, etc.
Some folks will buy a ship cause it's the ship they always wanted to fly...some folks will look at it and pass cause it's nothing new.
If that was the case. Then I have no need for more ships period. Since I usually try to get a ship that leans more of the 3 types (Tactical, Engineering, and Science.) on each character. So in this case I'm have no need for ships. So this way I have all 3 types covered to meet my needs. Only leaving a 4th type if you count a carrier. But all my characters has one of those as well.
Going by your thoughts, I have no more need for ships and the extra ship slots they gave me for free. As it was a waste.
Everyone is different. So they will buy some ships, and some won't. There is a lot of ships in the store, I hadn't bought. But I consider the purchase as something I really like to see, and how it would help my character. I just don't buy them to be buying them.

If you want to buy 3-Pack ships, by all means. But for me, I'm not going to buy them anymore.
I have the Scimitar 3-pack and the Vesta 3-Pack and I find 3-packs disappointing. They are basically the same except a different console layout and each ship has a unique console. Which I rather buy the unique console.

I agree with this, and why I don't usually buy them. To me its not really worth it just for the extra consul you can combine to make something.
Only one I bought was the Galaxy, and to me it was worth it. Since I'm actually using 2 different ships. One the Galaxy-R and the Galaxy-X Dread. The consuls do help them as well, and the extra ship skin make a killer looking Galaxy-X for me. To me this was the only pack I will buy for a long time.

I kind of get the impression the Dyson ships didn't do as well as Cryptic hoped, so we're more likely to see individual ships with fleet versions from here on out.
There don't seem to be many niches that would demand a three pack.
It does get rough, in a sense, of looking at what ships enough folks would actually want - to justify the cost of the ship, eh?
This is a potential issue, but way back when they released the rep system they did say they would like someday to let us command our "spare" ships as a personal fleet. Interestingly they also said they'd only do that alongside a level cap raise to Full Admiral.
Also some rumors have been going round of broadside mounts and weapons, if there's any basis in that it would occupy the ship people heavily.
