New 3-Pack ship set.

hyefatherhyefather Member Posts: 1,286 Arc User
I'm not really the type of person who asks for New ships without New content but, its been awhile since we got a new ship set. Any idea of when this might happen or what they will be.

I wonder if they're even going to continue with the 3 packs. Can't sell fleet modules with the 3 pack ships already being up to fleet level.

I'm betting they're either going to put in Fleet variants of ships that don't have one (Like the D'Kyr) or continue to release Refits and update the Fleet variants of the already free level 40 ships, like the DSSV, Star Cruiser, RSV, etc

on thursday... of some week, of some month.

thats as close as we can guess. as they always release ships on patch day.

but my guess is, they wont do many more multi-ship packs, probably one a year, and they already did one this year.

Figure you'll see the next Lock Box before the next 3pack, eh?

But instead, instead of needing to design 3 completely unique ships, they just design one with 3 variations, and sell it for the price of 2-3 ships.

Fleet Modules bring the price of a single ship from 2000 to 2500 Zen. 3-ship packages bring the price up to 5000.

considering the only type of ship they havent done a three pack for are carriers, BoP's, and Raptors, i dont really see them making many more... and A BoP 3 pack would only have a difference of a Console layout, since its already all universals....

be interesting to see a carrier 3 pack....

as feds already got an escort 3 pack (andorian), sci 3 pack (vesta) and a cruiser 3 pack (oddy)

    Klingons for the Bortas (battlecruiser?)

and rommys got their scim's (warbird)

yes, but fleet ships are single purchase, whereas any char on that faction can use fleet ship equivilants for a total fraction of the price.and many ships already only cost 500 zen to upgrade to fleet level if you own the base ship at T5 via C-store.

3 pack? Oh no no no, you're thinking in such small terms. Cryptic doesn't do that anymore. It's all about 9 pack ships now. 3 for every faction. Save money by buying them all! :D

There were also the ADSDs...3packs and even a 9pack. So it's not a case that they wouldn't do a "ship type" again or do something along those lines with other ship types...

The Lock Box thing was more in line with the increased speed of them. Hirogen duration was under 3 months. Figure the next box will be within a month or just over form now, eh? Maybe later...the Vegas Convention's at the end of July. Then again, they might go 2-3 weeks earlier than that if they wanted to do something special for that...wink, wink, August, wink, wink thing.

well, Destroyers are their own class of ship, and thus the DSD's are seperate from normal science ships, so technically they havent done the same ship type.

But they're not Destroyers. They're Science Vessels. Their default state is that of a Science Vessel. You can switch to a Tactical Mode, but that's not the default mode.

Anybody else kind of surprised, as well, by the name of EVE's most recent release and the theme?

    Kronos / Pirates

    Qo'noS / Raiders

    A stretch? / Or a dayum?

Came to mind because of the mention of ships here...and...what that expansion offered as far as new ships and ship paint jobs...oh well.

edit: Only came to mind as I was sitting outside Qo'noS while reading a thread about new ships...one of those "oh yeah" moments.

last i checked, they have both "Science" and "Destroyer" in the name, so therefor... they are a science take on destroyers, and thus they are their own unique type of ship.

With the Bulwark promo ending on July 3rd, a Thursday...

...go with a Lock Box rerun for a week through July 10th...

...with a new Lock Box on July 10th...

...with Lohlunat Summer Festival ending on July 17th...

Hrmm, that would be a week off, by my speculation. Perhaps a week with nothing after the Bulwark promo ends....perhaps a two week rerun? Something to push the Lock Box back to the 17th. Perhaps some sort of sale in there...hrmmm.

That way you could get into the 24th to get a new C-Store ship out...get folks excited about it...have that excitement going for you going into the Vegas convention so you could drop out some exciting news...to give a burst of energy to folks to keep them going until later in the year for X2. Still have to figure they're going to have to do some sort of S9.5 in there...

Cause you'll have that lull before you get to the Nov FE rerun, Winter Event, X2, etc, etc, etc...

But getting into X2 and thinking about the ADSDs...perhaps some form of Science Battle Cruiser hybrids for heading off into the Delta Quadrant, eh? That next 3pack/9pack sort of thing...

They are not Destroyers that go Science Mode.
They are Science Vessels that go Tactical Mode.

You might want to check again...

Yes, they lose part of the "Sci" when going "Tac" and gaining those bonuses...but you still have to choose to go there...it's not the default state. The default state is a Science Vessel.

edit: Is it a standard Sci Vessel? No, it can go Tac Mode. But as I said...
There were also the ADSDs...3packs and even a 9pack. So it's not a case that they wouldn't do a "ship type" again or do something along those lines with other ship types...

First "ship type" in quotes...second ship types not in quotes. So it's not a case that they wouldn't perhaps do something similar with others.

There could be a Cruiser than goes Tac, a Tac that goes Cruiser, a Sci that goes Cruiser, a Cruiser that goes Sci, etc, etc, etc...

Only 3 pack I bought was the Galaxy pack. Since I thought it was a good deal. And I have been using them as well.

I'm not sure what the next ships will be. I got about all the C store ships I want with like 1 or 2 still on my list. So the next one better be good.

It does get rough, in a sense, of looking at what ships enough folks would actually want - to justify the cost of the ship, eh?

I'm not sure how their ship creation model can continue. How long before folks end up perfectly happy with their ships and don't care about new ships...or...they see that Cryptic is leaving many ships obsolete so there's a trust issue that arises in not wanting to buy new ships? Some folks will always want more power though...so there is likely that, but even that - how long can that go?

Desperate times, call for desperate measures. If you'll look at all my other posts. The majority of them is ideas or requests to expand the games content and not make money pits. Its just it had been awhile since we had gotten a New 3pack. The forum is mostly ppl with spur of the moment ideas that pop into their head while playing the game. Most of those ideas are "I bet this would be better if", or hey, "its been awhile since". The forum is a way to vent those ideas. This is what happened to me. I was looking through my ships and seen some of the 3packs I had purchased in the past. Then I relized we hadn't got anything new in awhile. Nobody IMO sets up all night thinking of something they can post tommarrow on the forums. At least I hope they don't.

    "PRAY" is right!!

Perhaps for Romulans it is a possibility, but for KDF - this is the appropriate video response:

3 packs arent supposed to be common.... there's been a total of what... 6 ship bundles since the oddy/bortas after the second anniversary? (which were the first 3 packs.)

    Oddy 3 pack
    Bortas 3 pack
    andorian 3 Pack
    Vesta 3 pack
    Scimitar 3 pack
dyson pack 3 3packs (counted as 1 for simple "same ship + cloaks)

and to be technical, theres the galaxy bundle as well. I say "Technical" becasue none of the 3 ships in it are fleet level, which the op suggested.

that averages out to roughly 2 three packs a year.... and guess what? we already had 2 three packs this year. The Galaxy bundle and the dyson bundle, so my guess is, they wont do another for a while.... MAYBE expansion 2.

I was thinking about this some, while nursing one hell of a head cold, But one way they could present a 3-pack, would be , to say, allow the buyer to choose between 3 tiers of ships.

Not unlike the Romulus packs, for example, they can choose a tier 3, 4, and ship for X zen.

While it may not be helpful to us at max level, it would certainly be a boon for those leveling up, or having tons of alts.

On the other hand, And I'm not sure if it's rumor or not, but if they raise the level limit, I could see new 3 packs coming out also.

I wish some ships had versions for each tier.... so you could use them all the way thr=ugh your career. like the vet ships... super special ships, that you cant use most the time. I'd love it if i could fly my vet ship from level 1 to 50. even if i had to dismiss/reclaim it every 10 levels.

There is a several ships from the Fed that was in the show. They still hadn't made. Then they got the 2409 era ships. Which is still a good bit where they can create.

However they killed a few ships chances to be bought. Like the K'Vort and New Orleans. Both was told a while back they didn't really care to make those. Both of those I would have bought.

It's not just about models - it's also about stats, BOFF layouts, console layouts, etc, etc, etc. There's only so much they can do there. They're doing more 4x BOFF. When will they do 3x? Would they go 6x with multiple Ensigns? Etc, etc, etc.

Some folks will buy a ship cause it's the ship they always wanted to fly...some folks will look at it and pass cause it's nothing new.
