Oh heck, since we know it's a Ground doff... I'll take a guess or two:
1) When player loses shields, chance to spawn a combat effective Subspace Party Amplifier effect, providing momentary crowd control and a chance to recover shielding. Duration is much shorter than a non-combat Subspace Party Amplifier, and this effect may only occur once per <fill in the blank> secs.
2) When receiving a critical hit, chance to apply a Subspace Party Amplifier effect to the attacker. Chance increases as health decreases.
3) When a character is reduced to 0 hp, that character is auto-revived and begins dancing under a personal disco ball. That character also receives a HoT until they break the dancing emote, either by moving, attacking, or being attacked. May only occur once per <fill in the blank> secs.
4) Upon consumption of food/drink/"recreational" consumables, chance to apply a bonus to movement speed and health regen. "Recreational" refers to consumables such as[Prototype Ketracel Stimulant], etc. This is accompanied by special music and a dance emote when not taking other activities.
Hehe, probably none of those, but playing along with the guessing game is fun
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.
But you know what? I guess it doesn't matter now does it? By being allowed to visit their studios Cryptic has pretty much signed off on you and your fleet haven't they? They've said in deed what most of us have suspected for years. They're not going to stop you. They're not going to correct you. You won. After long last, you really, really won. STO is yours and no one is going to do a thing about it. Congratulations.
In theory, if you manage to light one off without aggroing them, then I suppose so. Since combat stops the dancing, you wouldn't want to embrace the power of disco where a fight might break out, for that would not be embracing the spirit of love that disco brings.
Doesn't work in combat. It used to for the first week or so but the devs changed it because people complained it was too distracting. Shame, fighting dancing borg was hilarious.
This is definitely amusing. Besides Elite Beat Agents, this is a surprise to have. I suppose I'll have to crank out some fabulous music now.
Not to kill the mood or anything but its a bit much to call victory over a small icon, no? Maybe I'm just not aboard the crazy train that has been the party amplifier debate lately, especially on how people feel what should be done. Just surprised people haven't used the permanent immunities to it yet that could of solved so many problems in a couple of public instances. I just know this is far from over for most people, with more zig-zags then the Canadian and US boarder yet to be drawn.
Curious, but can the defensive borg (the non-combat seeking ones) still be hit with the disco ball? Just something I'm interested in to perhaps kill time in Defera Power Plant.
In exchange, here are three handsome devils and appropriate party music.

As if there was ever any doubt. Disco today, Disco tomorrow, Disco FOREVER.
Discoballs are now canon.

I opened the link. And I too laughed.
Why must something so glorious happen while I am on a break!?
Ah well, at least this place looks set to get very entertaining in the coming days.
May a thousand discoballs light the sky in celebration of this wondrous occasion!
So, they won, I now wholeheartedly embrace the power and glory of discoballs and want to see them everywhere, if just out of spite !
So the dodge bonus gets applied to the enemy too?
