This game plays like a Beta.

After a week and a half in STO now, I can safely say that in my personal experience I've never played a game that feels like it's in BETA even after four years of being officially released.

I work a little in development freelance and half of the bugs that I encounter repeatedly every day I know are simple fixes, from the actionbar bug to crashing whenever one enters the tailor screen to the huge amount of resources the game needs to deliver a mediocre graphics experience.

I know that software developers are sometimes accused of being bears who own keyboards, but I think in the case of cryptic they're just plain on bears, no keyboard involved.

    Oh yea... that's pretty nasty too... But really... Screaming bright colors just don't do well on a grey background.

    Smirk uses DeepSkyBlue most of the time... and I don't see anyone accusing him of his font color... I don't see why Font Colors can't be used, when the option is there to use...

    Besides... I'm trying to be unique!!! And people are now telling me I can't.... Oh Boy, what has this world come... :cries:

    If someone don't like my color oh well... there is nothing on the forums terms of use preventing me from doing it...

    Did I read that right? Someone with a little development experience suggests that the studio with far more experience and plenty of live games to show for it are 'doing it wrong'?

    And you still haven't.

    After being the beta test phase for three separate Cryptic Games and about a dozen other MMOs over the years, I can assure you that this game doesn't play like it is in a beta right now in 2014.

    It's bug fixing process is not very fluid or dynamic. But this game doesn't play like a beta.

    The protocols they have in place for patching are arcane, counter-intuitive, and just plan ineffective.

    But claiming this game plays like a beta is extreme.

    Hyperbole on the internet is pretty commonplace though.

    I just hope Cryptic fixes the graphics performance issues that were introduced in season 9. Even people good graphic cards are having performance issues.

    This can deter many casual players from playing STO who has a laptop / desktop / all-in-one PC with only integrated graphics. That is a very good way to limit your revenue stream which is a bad thing for a F2P MMO.
