Prior to Season 9 I could play the game on my Mac with pretty decent graphics.
Then Season 9 arrived.
Since then I've had to lower the graphics settings because the game kept crashing. Logic dictates that seeing as my computer didn't change, nor is it crashing with any other games, the changes to Season 9 are the culprit for forcing me to lower my settings. Speaking to other Mac users, I know I'm not the only one who has to deal with this.
Are there any plans to fix this or is the Mac client always going to be the red-headed step child of STO?

PC version have crashing or unplayable graphics. 2 for the price of 1.
I am surprised you're suprised that PC's are affected... Mac's aren't special, ya know? They aren't the shiny little stars Apple pretends they are.
They are both computers with a slightly different hardware and software setup, depending on who manufactured it.
What you are describing has been pretty normal for almost anyone who has played STO at one time.
To this date, I can't play CE while looking at it, because it for no reason random crashes... When the revamped was released I used a Sapphire Radeon 4870 HD x2, and these days I use a HD 7800 series card... And yet, it still crashes even on the lowest setting...
So you see... it's not some random Apple hate.
All you can do is tweak and nudge the settings to a point where the crashes are less frequent.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...

I don't think they're special. I just know that games that aren't written for them (such as STO being wrapped in a wineskin wrapper) never run as well as they will on a PC.
Games written especially for the Mac, well they run on even par as games written for the PC. Take Elder Scrolls Online, for instance. That game has an actual written for Mac version. I play it with EVERY slider and setting at max and I don't drop below 55 fps. With STO, the second I put anything in to medium the fps drops to sub 35.
Yeah, prior to season 9, the game ran pretty well on lower end systems. Season 9 more or less increased the baseline graphic requirements for everyone.
I play STO on my laptop sometimes which has a Radeon HD 8850M GPU (between the GT 750m and GT 755m) and it struggles a lot when there are many objects / particles in space.
So basically Cryptic screwed up by arbitrarily increasing GPU requirements without much improvements to the graphics.
Sounds like a problem that will be fixed after the Klingon bugs get fixed.
Really? If it's a problem that is affecting everyone then I would have thought that they'd fix it before an issue that affects a percentage of the players. Doing otherwise makes no sense.
Same here. I have a sexed up iMac with two graphics cards. Prior to S9, it played very well. Now, the graphics suck regardless of my settings and the game crashes within one minute. It's frustrating that whenever they change anything, all hell breaks loose. Back to Elder Scrolls Online, I guess.

there are bugs n glitches in from launch... so yeah.. keep that dream alive

On the upside, it's not "just Mac players." On the downside...Cryptic prioritization. I'm not holding my breath waiting on a fix.
Seems like cool new ships and reputations must mean more than being able to enjoy the graphics!!
