While I do often gripe about I will say that I enjoyed the new FE a heck of a lot, and the KDF has come on a lot recently and is doing a lot better than it once was.

That doesn't mean I am going to be come a sycophant though, that helps no one.

It doesn't mean that I don't like playing the game though, I like many others here have a great passion for the game and we sometimes get frustrated when things seem to be going down hill.

I've also been trying in some ways to appreciate some of the positive aspects of the game more of late.
I find all the negativity can start to change your outlook over time so I've taken time this week to do things that simply please me ingame, nothing more.
Things like finally building my first proper pvp build, a darned expensive one but I've been planning it for so long and I'm so happy with the results. Its so nice when something you put so much work into is finally complete and you take the time to just look at it.
I've also started playing friendly pvps with well matched fleetmates and have just had a much better experience than the attitudes that nearly put me off the whole thing in the beginning.
Also little things I haven't taken the time to appreciate before. I zoomed in on an atrox and was impressed by the hangars and fighters that can be seen. I (like the op) really took the time to look at the finer details of esd, the plants, the water feature, and the exchange display. And the level of detail is beautiful.
I can't begin to think of all the examples iv seen this week in terms of detailed artwork that have impressed me when I've taken a moment to stop and really look at them.
I love the FE and the revamped episodes. Sure there are a ton of new bugs but they are such a pain in the TRIBBLE I imagine they will be fixed soon enough.
I've also taken steps to make sure I have stout leadership (not just my own) in both of our fleets so I have a little more spare time to really appreciate some of the things I've been too busy running by to notice before and its breathed new life into this players game in terms of really appreciating what goes into some of the design.
As has been mentioned in another thread, I have noticed more teamplay when it comes to STFs, healing and less ill faited soloing. Even when I've been in a pad pug with very low dps that is failing, I've noticed an increase in players actively trying to help each other, which in turn has encouraged me to try and help players more.
That's my little slice of positivity, it is my own of course but positive none the less :)

Keep up the good work cryptic.

    Se 9 Positives:

Great new missions (love hard enemies)
Beautiful new shopping mall ( I mean ESD )
    Tuvoc need I say more?
    Iconians yes finally
Some interesting new toys (Kits and traits)
though I must admit I was against the trait revamp, after the kits and all things considered this may be advantageous to game play and balance at end game after all.

I personally like the ARC launcher, even since I switched over, it has made my gaming experience easier. I particularly enjoy the ease of purchasing zen through it.

I know only a small percentage of the STO community posts on the forums, but I can tell you I have hear a number of positive comments from players I enjoy playing with. I cannot comment on any other people's opinions, they are on my ignore list, which I have to say is an AWESOME function.

    Good work Cryptic.

Stay positive? That isn't a problem. However looking here it doesn't appear as if much will be released this year. I mean, if "Expansion II" gets pushed until 2015 what do we have to look forward to? Especially if you collected everything at the Lohlunat Festival last year? (yes I did it on all 14 alts).

To start off, reputation trait overhaul is great :D I've spent some time fiddleing with various trait configurations to find a combo which brings out best of my ship, until I settled on the one I'm using right now (2 of them being Auxiliary Configuration, both offense and defense).

Also, I adore the new ESD look. It finally looks like 24th century space station, radiating with elegance Odyssey class ships have. I wasted about 20 minutes looking for Club 47 and was even ready to IC ask others where it is, but sadly at that moment only AFK people were there, with few "sprinters"...

Oh, and some of the older things: I absolutely LOVE New Romulus background music and am amazed each time I visit it. I might take about hour of two of just chilling there, exploring it completely and doing non-combat quests. Are there other places like that?

While there are issues (which belong to other threads), I have to say: Keep up the good work.

When this feedback goes off the rails of the topic at hand to bring up personal grievances with other areas of the game, that is where things become problematic for our forums. If you want something done about a certain ship, don't bomb a thread about a uniform or an event to bring up your beef with something completely off topic. This is the fastest way to inflame others, invalidate a thread, or just plain get an infraction.

Everything else aside, this specific issue generally happens because there is a lack of perception of the staff team being aware or commenting on given issues, which encourages a sort of mentality where players believe that a fix is simply a matter of giving exposure to the issue at hand- hence the reason why people tend to bomb any thread where any staff member has posted with unrelated issues- because if a staff member posts in a thread and is rarely seen elsewhere on the forum, then there might exist a small chance that they're paying attention to that thread- and if they're paying attention to that thread, they might notice the issue or grievance, even if it's unrelated.

And if they notice then they'll know it exists- but if a user posts in the proper forum and submits a bug report, it could be upwards of a year before that issue is seen being addressed. I mean, I remember back when I joined and there was this one oft reported bug that was a game breaker for a specific mission (NPC's becoming invincible), and it didn't get fixed for the better part of a year and a half- and I remember very specifically that a staff member posted on a then recently made thread and showed a total lack of awareness that the issue had been reported or was known, as though that one report was the first time it had ever been reported.

There's no easy fix to avoid that sort of behaviour, largely because of the reasons you've discussed- that bad behaviour can invalidate threads, put staff off interacting with the community, and generally that people argue passionately for things they believe in, whether or not those suggestions are good or bad.

Hey guys, Nbreeki here, and I guess I've noticed that since Season 9, well....there's been an awful lot of negativity on the forums, especially here in General Discussion. I think it's about time to buck that trend and start looking on the brighter side of life in STO! I want everyone here to post about something POSITIVE that's happened to them in-game over the last few days. If you're a glass half-empty type (no judgment LOL) and have problems thinking about something, why not just come in here and bounce a few ideas off the group, see what sticks, and just let the feeling of the thread boost your morale, you know?

To start: I was walking around on Risa the other day admiring the great work the Devs have done updating the zone in the last few weeks (top notch guys, I really think you're starting to NAIL it), when I found two players sitting on a balcony table, obviously having some kind of date. Well, never one to turn down a chance for some good spontaneous RP, I decided to play the part of a waiter and took their orders! Not only were they receptive, but they joined right in and we had a blast. If they're reading this, thanks for the RP and the memories, guys!

So that's my little story. Let's hear what you all have. Also, let's end every post with the following: Keep up the good work, Cryptic!

I cant tell you how creepy I find all that.

Note: While I quoted Bluegeek, this post is more intended for the player BG responded to.

This thread was meant to be taken at face value and nothing more. The people in here complaining about their posts being altered are the very same people who came into this thread with the wrong intentions. For the most part, I've altered posts of people who, despite the title, the OP, and the comments following, think this is the thread to come in and continue to voice complaints and their silly vendettas against a company that produces a game these same people spend hours playing.

It's simple: if you are going to come into a thread created EXPLICITLY for positive comments and leave behind nasty anti-crypic, anti-dev, random game complaints, then I am going to alter your post for the positive. The reason is this: there are PLENTY of threads dealing with bugs, whining about the new ESD, whining about more stuff for the Klank faction, whining over power creeps and EC inflation. I'm sure you can find a thread with like-minded people where you can exchange barbs at the devs' expense, but this simply is not the thread for it, and that should have been clear from the beginning.

Anyone come in here to whine/complain/make negative comments is simply trolling. There's nothing more to it than that.

At the risk of dragging the mood down, I was just in IGE and had a FANTASTIC pug group (rare, I know). Not only did we get the op, we were in and out of there in no time. Way to go guys.

Keep up the good work, Cryptic!

Well that's good I guess. And a "compliment the devs" thread is a good idea, to be sure, as the negative tends to be accentuated, if only because in the short term, it might feel useless to comment on the positive -- there's nothing for them to change about that, obviously. So trying to balance that out is admirable. Still, I find your implementation...unsettling, to say the least. I think you're overreacting to what is basically a few caveats in most of the posts you're unperson-ing.

Actually I don't think good PuGs are that rare. Well I guess fantastic ones aren't that common, but most just silently do their jobs.

I like the new kit system. Moar customization is always good, and I'm talking mostly about the visuals here. If something similar were implemented for weapons, and ships... I'm just saying, you're definitely moving in a good direction here. And of course the gameplay customization is welcome.

Closer focus on the Undine: awesome. They're a compelling villain, and they have a centrality to the storyline that the Voth lacked. As did the Borg, for that matter. Upping the difficulty level was either a good game design choice or a brilliant troll move toward those who were complaining about facerolls. Not really sure which, but either way, I approve. Difficult content is fun, with a good team.

Oh and I like the new ESD, of course. Variety is welcome, and the new station is, IMO, just plain superior to the old one. Harder to navigate, granted, but it adds a bit of complexity that the other one didn't have. I also noticed that 25th-century designs are front and center, with only a few of the more outdated ships. In the window, that is. With the addition of the PER...dare I hope that we're looking at a phasing out of older designs from the game at large?

I've just finally gotten around to replaying some of those remastered federation missions and wow they are looking great these days. Really great improvements to the environments. There where also some small but great changes to the missions themselves. It's mostly just moving/removing some redundant encounters/objectives to improve pacing but it really improves the flow.

    Great job on those Cryptic!

Also really enjoying the new trait system, I can't wait for you guys to tackle the skill revamp!

For the last few weeks i been doing elites. Mostly the omega ones due to the gear i want for them.
    My oddy.

What stood out in my mind, a few days back we did the cure found. IN the time we where supposed to take out the borg. You know what we did?
We spend the time on the team chat commenting about borg architecture and how they implement the qpla of klignon ships

Those that was with me will remember how much fun we had. Those are the moments that make this fun. Even the "gg" good game at the end of a fast elite run, makes me feel great and fuzzy.

Then the risa flying. OMG (oh my goodness.). When my fleet (iconian direwolves) told me how to my karen fly, i was over the moon. Really great work on just slapping that map together.

You will always find people not liking some apects , without it nothing can expand and grow.

I love this game and really enjoy the diversity.

    Thanks cryptic.

I think the Risa map additions are nice. Looking forward to the Summer event.

The Tempest class is a nice looking ship. I'm impressed with it's visual quality.

For starters I'll simply state what I like:

ESD looks believable now. Well done artists.

The FE was nice. I have philosophical differences with the direction of the storyline, but putting those aside, I had fun. Thank you for inviting Tuvok.

I've really appreciated being able to use multiple team powers without the shared cool-down.

I've surprisingly had fun in the Breen raider. Thanks for that free ship with an interesting twist.

There's a few other things I would mention, but am afraid to lest they disappear.

Lastly, thank you for the forum. It's not really a wilderness. It's an exploration into the soul and psyche of mankind. I encourage the devs to read every part of it. It's fascinating, really.

    To the OP:

Did you happen to catch Eurovision 2014? Russia had a very positive entry, beautiful performers with nice voices, but was booed.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7HKBlAzN5I

It seems the audience had difficulty disassociating this piece of art from President Putin and the happenings in Ukraine and the recent interactions with Romania.

So whom did Europe choose? This guy:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ToqNa0rqUtY

I feel I've been placed in a similar position as Europe on multiple occasions here. Sometimes the enemy has the face of an angel, and sometimes freedom is a bearded lady-boy.

    Positive heh? cracks knuckles ....

    Okay,

. I'm grateful, as others, for the 2 free ships slots. Thanks Cryptic !
    . I'm grateful that Arc isn't mandatory yet. :D
. I'm grateful for the changes to the Galaxy X, and would be even more grateful for
meaningful changes for the exploration cruiser retrofit and the Aquarius destroyer.
. I'm grateful for the Worf and Tuvok voice overs.
. I think that the new Spacedock is neat, BUT, sometimes I think it lacks the intimate feel of the
old one. Perhaps when when studio 47 gets added ?
    . I enjoyed Nabreki's latest video ! (I did !)
. I'm grateful for the upcoming episode reruns for lobi.
. I'm grateful that despite my feelings towards lockboxes, that Cryptic includes something for
everybody in them, in addition to the really rare prize... that I never get. :P
. I'm grateful to all the players who post their builds on STO academy, and the game insights
the PVP community write about in their section.
    . I think Risa's lookin pretty awesome !

I'll think I'll end it here before I strain somethin :P

im one who actually overall liked season 9, sure, it was a copy and paste of season 8, and im a little sick of the dev team needing to inject everyother sci fi franchise into star trek at nausium.

but, while season 8 and 9 are lightyears away from being "great content" I do give a small belly clap to cryptic for finally starting to break the cycle they have been in for a few years.

examples are that they are finally starting to find ways to have individual career paths have an impact on content. sure, its not fleshed out yet, but I see the devs dipping their toes in the pool, and I like that.

and I like how the content looks better and better. but to quote kirk. cryptic is fixing the barn doors after the cows came home....

bring me the Niagara class, and ill be happy as a clam lol..

while I do not think that cryptic has done stellar work in the past I cannot tell them to keep up the god work, as that would imply they have done good work in the past.. lol..

    so ill say this.

keep up your more recent trend of decent work, and surpass my expectations. by all means, make me stick my foot in my mouth. lol...

Since coming back after over a year or so away, I find a fair amount of stuff to like.

I like the way we can now see numbers/stats listed in the UI to an extra decimal place (I'm an OCD number-cruncher and it always bothered me before) :)

I like the way Console balance has progressed a little bit - Feds have a Plasmonic Leech now.

I like the addition of the Playable Romulan faction.

I like the reputation system sponsership tokens.

I like the Kit revamp - YAY for customization!

I like the fact that the Devs are still as vocal on the forums as ever.

I like the way my old Game Launcher still works (phrasing that one carefully!) :P

I even like the New Earth Space Dock. This is actually quite a big deal for me because I tend to hate change... but the layout flows really well now. It looks much more open, and everything of utility is easily accessible.

I also like the mumblings from certain Devs about finally addressing some of the more cryptic (no pun intended) tooltips to make them clearer to the uninitiated. eg whether a damage buff is "strength" or "bonus"... ;)

That's a really positive and uplifting story. I once went to the Diligram channel to engage in discussion regarding dilithium, pvp, and how to better organize such things. The amount of negativity there about various fleets really killed my enthusiasm, especially when they were fleets who have personally helped me access T5 starbases and their stores.

Instead of letting the negativity about generous and otherwise helpful fleets get to me, I decided to leave the channel. But where else could I find some positivity?

Instead, I came to realize that I do not need to rely on other people to make me feel positive, I needed to feel positive about myself, and positive about the game.

In a rare display of public socialization, I went to Earth Spacedock to find Club 47. Instead I found DJ Zuza taking drink orders and two fine and upstanding Starfleet officers having a discussion about love and how to spread that love around.

What is it about Earth Spacedock that brings out those powerful emotions? Is it the art? The atmosphere? The space?

In the end I took a seat and really gazed and marvelled at all the diversity out in Earth Spacedock. I listened to some music and let it all sink in.

This is a great game, even if there aren't some great people. But the game is what you make of it.

Cryptic is awesome at how they create even if I may not always think it's awesome on what they create.

But diversity is the spice of life, and positivity is infectious.

Keep up the good work, Cryptic!

    awesomely put..

what I take from what you say, is that even though I might not like certain aspects of the game, there are aspects I do enjoy. and that is why I continue to log in..

for example. I hated the idea of fighting a dinosaur.. and I bitched to nausium about it here on the forums.. but. I still have not played against a t rex with lazer beams because "I" have chosen not to. the idea gets me, but I can choose what I play, and what I do not. just as others can.

with what I said above, one of the biggest thank yous to the dev team I personally can convey, is thank you for easing up on the rep systems, as i can now partake in the voth rep system. before i refused to, and now i can get the marks i need and get it done.

further more, i spend most of my time in the foundry, as i find the players created content scratches my trek itch far better than the games actual content.
for this, i say thank you to cryptic for creating such a system, and an even bigger thank you to the players who put out such awesome, intriguing, and star trek based content. they really put some serious time into it, and also deserve some credit.
