Hey guys, Nbreeki here, and I guess I've noticed that since Season 9, well....there's been an awful lot of negativity on the forums, especially here in General Discussion. I think it's about time to buck that trend and start looking on the brighter side of life in STO! I want everyone here to post about something POSITIVE that's happened to them in-game over the last few days. If you're a glass half-empty type (no judgment LOL) and have problems thinking about something, why not just come in here and bounce a few ideas off the group, see what sticks, and just let the feeling of the thread boost your morale, you know?
To start: I was walking around on Risa the other day admiring the great work the Devs have done updating the zone in the last few weeks (top notch guys, I really think you're starting to NAIL it), when I found two players sitting on a balcony table, obviously having some kind of date. Well, never one to turn down a chance for some good spontaneous RP, I decided to play the part of a waiter and took their orders! Not only were they receptive, but they joined right in and we had a blast. If they're reading this, thanks for the RP and the memories, guys!
So that's my little story. Let's hear what you all have. Also, let's end every post with the following: Keep up the good work, Cryptic!
The problem isn't not liking the game, the problem is liking most of the game and then having this little chunk of it that drives you nuts. Like the majority of season 9 except for most of the FE.
"Great War! / And I cannot take more! / Great tour! / I keep on marching on / I play the great score / There will be no encore / Great War! / The War to End All Wars"
— Sabaton, "Great War"
UH OH *sounds alarm* looks like we have a negative nancy; a real debbie downer that can't follow directions. Let's keep this thread positive, Mr. Grinch, and end every post with the following: Keep up the good work, Cryptic.
Don't Scrooge this up for the rest of us!
Keep up the good work, Cryptic!
Nbreeki, just, um, just wondering...
When did you go hippie? (and I mean that in the nicest way)
That's a really positive and uplifting story. I once went to the Diligram channel to engage in discussion regarding dilithium, pvp, and how to better organize such things. The amount of negativity there about various fleets really killed my enthusiasm, especially when they were fleets who have personally helped me access T5 starbases and their stores.
Instead of letting the negativity about generous and otherwise helpful fleets get to me, I decided to leave the channel. But where else could I find some positivity?
Instead, I came to realize that I do not need to rely on other people to make me feel positive, I needed to feel positive about myself, and positive about the game.
In a rare display of public socialization, I went to Earth Spacedock to find Club 47. Instead I found DJ Zuza taking drink orders and two fine and upstanding Starfleet officers having a discussion about love and how to spread that love around.
What is it about Earth Spacedock that brings out those powerful emotions? Is it the art? The atmosphere? The space?
In the end I took a seat and really gazed and marvelled at all the diversity out in Earth Spacedock. I listened to some music and let it all sink in.
This is a great game, even if there aren't some great people. But the game is what you make of it.
Cryptic is awesome at how they create even if I may not always think it's awesome on what they create.
But diversity is the spice of life, and positivity is infectious.
Made a slight edit to your post, if that's ok. To answer your question: I don't think there's anything wrong with pointing out the things you like about the game, is there?
Keep up the good work, Cryptic!
Congratulations on breaking your 500 post milestone, Nabreeki! Your dedication to these forums to input valuable feedback is a real sign you care.
There are some bugs that are bugging me, but I'm pretty happy overall, and I try to keep my expectations realistic. The additions to Risa look nice, but "Event" Risa was a nice map to begin with. The art design quality in STO has improved so much over the years that's it's like a new game in many ways.

I just meant that I'm wondering what kicked off the nice trend. There's nothing wrong with it.
Two other things:
1. It's Voporak.
2. You don't need to edit my post... I already love this game (minus the... nevermind)
You do realize, nabreeki, that if you keep this up, "Keep up the good work, Cryptic!" is probably going to become the new sarcastic way to say "Cryptic is sloppy. Film at eleven."
Keep up the good w *breaks out laughing before he can finish the sentence*

Not sure why but this scares me to my soul.
On topic! Season 9 is awesome. The kit revamp looks to be the start of a great change up of ground combat. Risa looks even better then last year. The new FE was pure WOW! There has been many great things that happen Season 9 and I hope to see what comes next.
looks like a troll thread based on op responses so far.
being nice is fine and frankly nothing wrong with that, but having nothing but a bunch of yes men especially when things needs fixing elsewhere. do you realize the best way to bring up quality of life is by stating issues to be fixed there by eliminating the issue so others can then enjoy it?
attempt to edit my quote out of context to fit your purpose ironically is a good way of killing a good mood.
you have a nice day now.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
Of course it's okay! Everybody loves all the work Cryptic does, and all forum posts should support that. The negativity (not that there is any!) is clearly the work of (purely hypothetical) nihilistic heretics.
*Thumps chest*
Glory to Cryptic! May its reign be long and prosperous! May all its edicts be obeyed!
(Couldn't resist. BTW, the negativity level seems about normal for a season release. It's happened every season I've been around, though admittedly that's not that long. I find season 9 quite satisfactory.)

I wouldn't say one positive thread out of many negative threads is being a bunch of yes men. Additionally, the new art assets and changes to the game have really brought it a long way since it originally came out.
For me the game still needs improvements. Looking at the longtime bugs that annoy me personally, such as Defera. And Season 8 was, well, a bummer. And I personally did not like Step Between Stars.
Season 9, though, was cut of a different piece of wood. Finally the nerfbat we had been asking for. Awesome new PvE's. A new battlezone. A truly awesome FE. ESD rework. Flanking bonus.
I am yet to find something about Season 9 that I don't like. And this is not sarcastic: this season reminded me why I like this game so much. And that all for free. We even got free ship slots!
So, keep up the good work you did with Season 9 Cryptic! Really looking forward to the upcoming Expansion!
Looks like a troll thread based on op responses so far.
True. But at least it's a happy one, and he does have a point. Every other thread is the same complaints or demands, most of them recycled over and over. With the sheer amount of repetition you really think these posts have any influence at all over what Cryptic choose to fix and when?
Do they even pay attention to the forums at all? Also this is GD, and not the bugs section where such complaints should be going.
OK? OK.
I don't consider myself a fanboy, I am a realist. And all in all Cryptic have done and are doing a good job here. Most complaints are for minor bugs that do not break or otherwise disturb the core game. Example, right now there is a 19 page thread on swimwear. The major ones get fixed quick enough.
Season 9 was also a great success, smooth roll out, daily patches to iron out the kinks and great new features. Yes there are oversights but Cryptic need to work at the best compromise, and we need to understand there has to be compromises.
Hell, I even like the size of the changing rooms in the new ESD! Perhaps that was under the belt, but I couldn't resist
Let's end this rant on another positive note shall we? Few weeks ago I took part in a STB run of ISE. 4 of us were in Nova's (fleet and mirror versions) and the team included that certain forums regular who is a big fan of the Rhode Island. ISE is finished including optional and they say it's the best single run they've ever had in STO, and I'm quite happy that I was a part of it.
If players took it upon themselves to make their own fun, STO can be so much better for them.
Hmm...positive...positive. I'm not the most original, so I will go with this:
The kit revamp.
The often neglected ground portion of the game mechanics (I don't mean from a PvE or PvP standpoint, just ground as a whole) really doesn't get the love it should compared to the oft-updated space section of the game.
The revamp of kits really made ground a lot more fun for me. I have had purposefully built ground-specced toons for a long time: A Fed Alien Sci, and a KDF Tac Lethean. Ever since season 9 was released, they have seen a LOT of attention.
Doubly so now with the kit revamp. It lets you have what you want, when you want it. Before, so many kit powers were significantly hampered simply because they were on the 'wrong' kit, and were not used often as such.
Also I do agree: A little positivity really cannot hurt things. Sure, there have been times when the feedback has been a LOT more negative than even this has been season 9, but it doesn't change Nabreeki's point.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
Well, it isn't so much what came with Season 9, but staying positive here;
This past week I got my science character up to level #50, and with him I got the Nebula Retrofit (that was a giveaway some months back). Thanks to this, I can get the Fleet Version of this ship for a mere single Fleet Module. Cheapest Fleet Ship going.
I'm quite happy with how my Science character has developed too, and in hindsight, if I'd have known this back when I started, I'd have simply run two Federation characters (an ENG and SCI) and then a KDF Tactical when the Romulans were released (free third character slot as I'd not have purchased the lifetime membership).
So yeah, something positive; Cryptic gave away the Nebula Class retrofit which is allowing me to get a Fleet Ship with only a single Fleet Module. I just hope now that Cryptic can find the time to merge the Venture Skin onto the Nebula Ship.
Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though. JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

I hate threads like this. People are being honest so why be all positive about the changes. It's not a fantasy. Cryptic throws out some garbage that people spend money on the game. The game is buggy and there are plenty of bugs since several Seasons 9 while Cryptic introduces more bugs.
I'll be positive when Cryptic creates and shows us content that isn't garbage.
Jellico....Engineer ground.....Da'val Romulan space Sci
Saphire.. Science ground......Ko'el Romulan space Tac
Leva........Tactical ground.....Koj Romulan space Eng
JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse
Positive over the last few days? Hmmm....I'd say the appearance of the Tempest Class, really.
Not because of the powerfull Boff and console layout, but because the sheer awesomness of the design. The ship looks great, very fluid lines, awesome saucer section and unique deflector.
It gives me hope that Cryptic finally got the hang of their Starfleet designs and that we'll start seeing good looking Cryptic-made Federation ships in STO.
All my compliments to JamJamz for his amazing work on this ship.

i only can say is that only so 20 % of all players come to the forum
the orther 80 % dont care and never post anything they just enjoy this game
so its beter to ignore it
