It's kind of a trip looking at that BOFF seating, even though I no longer have any Fed toons - it takes the classic seating I'd run and improves it a bit.

think its more like RIP hunter. the nicor still has the 8 weapons slot, this aft DC will be about as useful as the proton weapon mounted aft, minus set bonuses. though the hunter will still turn MUCH better then this will. i guess if those 2 ships fused, we would be this new patrol. RIP fleet akira, steamrunner, MVAM, etc
would be cool to see this done to the prometheus too, just do another stop sell to the current MVAM and fleet MVAM, give it a LTC sci/LTC uni, and the classics will be back ruling the roost.
pity they cant do this to a certain ship that's worst in game by a mile, and canon, and the real star of TNG

The blogs are all 502, but a few folks had it already open before it tanked and posted the following...
Patrol Escort Refit: Tempest Class
The Patrol Escorts were envisioned as escorts with an engineering bent. The Patrol Escort Refit: Tempest Class improves on those original designs with greatly improved Bridge Officer seating, a 5th Tactical Console slot, and additional aft firepower that will give Tempest captains new options in combat.
The Tempest comes equipped with a Nadion Saturation Bomb console. Firing the Nadion Saturation Bomb lays down a string of explosive fire that strafes between the ship and its target and then continues to detonate past the target. Any enemy ships caught in the explosions will take severe damage. After detonation, an intense Nadion Radiation Field lingers in space, creating a deadly hazard for enemies. The Nadion Saturation Bomb console may be equipped in any console slot of any Patrol Escort.
The Patrol Escort Refit: Tempest Class also comes with the Aft-Firing Tempest Tail Gun. This unique dual cannon is set up to fire on targets in the rear 90 degree arc of the Patrol Escort, and defaults to the Rapid Fire I firing mode. Like other cannons, the Aft-Firing Tempest Tail Gun can be modified by Scatter Volley and higher rank Rapid Fire bridge officer abilities. The Aft-Firing Tempest Tail Gun is fused to its own slot and does not fill one of the ships three aft weapons slots. It cannot be removed.*
The Patrol Escort Refit comes with the new Tempest class costume by default. As a Patrol Escort, it can also use costume parts from the Dervish, Gryphon and Hermes class costumes. If you have already unlocked the Maelstrom costume, it will also be available to you. Purchasing the Patrol Escort Refit: Tempest Class will unlock the Tempest costume for all Patrol Escorts.
There is currently a Fleet Patrol Escort available in the in-game ship store if you have a Tier 1 Fleet Shipyard. That ship will be retired and no longer available. It will be replaced with the new Fleet Patrol Escort Refit. Like all Fleet ships, the Fleet Patrol Escort Refit enjoys additional HP and shields, as well as a bonus console slot in this case, a 3rd Engineering console slot. The Fleet Patrol Escort does not come with the Nadion Saturation Bomb console item, but it does come equipped with a 4th aft weapon slot, fused with the Aft Tempest Tail Gun.
The new Fleet Patrol Escort Refit will come with Maelstrom class costume by default. It can also use costume parts from the Dervish, Gryphon and Hermes classes costumes. Purchasing the Fleet Patrol Escort Refit: Maelstrom Class will unlock the Maelstrom costume for all Patrol Escorts.

question is, will it come out before the fleet gurumba? of course! what do you think the odds are that there will be a gurumba relaunch with the same station setup as this patrol refit? i say 5 to 1, yes im that optimistic!
Upgraded patrol escort with 5 tac consoles and a A2B friendly boff setting.
All the proof I need that they will never be balancing Tech doffs.... RIP sto.
Really last 2 lockbox ships and now this... obviously they intend everyone to use a2b and faw.
all them doffs tech doffs make irreverent need buffed. 1 purple for each of them should be all you need, with no chance roles. then comparatively tech doffs will be balanced. there is noooo going back at all with reducing anythings effectiveness in any way, this is the best you can hope for.

It would be easier to just delete cool downs... and leave global cool downs as the only ones that exist in STO.
Its all good though I was waiting for a reason to delete sto. It is quite clear on plenty of levels that Cryptic isn't in this for long term survival. There rep changes to control future creep... was clearly simply to control creep that isn't as profitable. So begins the refit of all the refits. Over the next 6 months expect every ship people love fed and klink side to be refit refit onto the zen store and back into the fleet system. 2500 zen for every new creep console... and another round of zen for the fleet versions.
Giving everyone 2 more ship slots... so ya I am sure the next refit refit will feature a 2 piece console bonus as well. The defiant / intrepid all the refits that have special consoles... I fully expect there refit refit consoles will include some more creep in a 2 piece bonus $ scheme.
Beyond bumping up the turn rate to 20, and/or swapping the ensign tac for an ensign engineering, I have no idea what they could or should to to improve it in light of the FPE.
I mean, the bug ship is dead, might as well seal the coffin,
But seriously, where do you go from dual LtCmdr ... dual Cmdr? So unnecessary too, they could have made Defiant and MVAM ensigns uni, and still had plenty of room for a PE Refit with the console.
Power ratcheting, the click after the Avenger/Mogh and the lockbox ships.
the defiant is a hard call. its the only ship in the game that has a station setup that perfectly matches canon. its supposed to be not strong or plentiful in eng or sci
maybe, this?
COM tac
LTC tac LTC uni
LT uni
wouldnt be much of an AtB ship, a pretty big part of what makes an offense ship good or not now, but its stil impoved. oh but those with embassy doffs may be cross over this change
or, the defiant may actually just need 2 COM tac, the time has come!
It wouldn't be a good a2b ship so its out of the question.
The only way to shut players up about a2b being op is to make sure everyone is using it.
I remember the first version of the defiant before its release had dual commanders.
So why not.
Commander Tac
Uni Commander
Lt Cmd engi
Lt sci
Throw in a fused 360 degree photon launcher to make sure it looks canon. haha
Clearly nothing getting released from this point forward will not be able to load at least a lt cmd engi. They will either have one or a uni lt cmd making it possible.
A2B is the new standard on everything.
Likely next they will go over something like the intrepid. Giving it a Uni LT Cmd + lt eng or something like that... increasing the turn... and adding a Fused forward beam array or something.
It's kind of a trip looking at that BOFF seating, even though I no longer have any Fed toons - it takes the classic seating I'd run and improves it a bit.
I literally laughed out loud at work when I saw the blog post and the BOFF layout on that ship.
Poor Antonio is still trying to fight the good fight, nerf A2B? The past year and a half they have likely sold a crapton of ships based directly on the power of Tech doffs.

AtB definitely plays to the lowering the bar angle of accessibility so that more can be crammed on the spacebar to allow puppies to play on their iPads.
Like other things, in the hands of competent players they might be a bit overboard here and there in certain combinations...but for that extremely casual Star Trek fan that may never have played a video game in their lives (or haven't played a video game since the Atari 2600) - this allows them to hook up an ol' single fire button joystick and go at it. It did make me chuckle thinking about the spacebar online thing with all the controller/joystick threads that popped up - wondering how many had their fire button mapped like the spacebar.

It does all make sense now.
And I thought giving Jorf a hard time about rudder peddles was a silly concept.

Heh, proton weapon mounted aft without the set bonuses. In parses, the proton weapon mounted in this way apparently amounts to 1% of my DPS, nearly all of it scored against random targetable torpedoes. And this one has an even narrower arc...and probably doesn't fire at targets of opportunity.
the defiant is a hard call. its the only ship in the game that has a station setup that perfectly matches canon. its supposed to be not strong or plentiful in eng or sci
I don't know about that. On the show, the Defiant is characterized as a tough little ship. In the game, it's a paper plane.
