Not quite ... Some of us actually like most of the changes, however, as with all things Cryptic, they totally balls it up sometimes (all the time?)

The increased difficulty in the STF's is great, and my hat's off to Cryptic.

But it would have been nice to know they were doing 'something' even if it's only so that players joining PuG's understand that there are now differences, so that they can prepare better, or not bother doing Elites until they are ready.

Some of it though is just plain pathetic, and quite obviously Cryptic did exactly 0 testing before hand ... 2 That spring to mind are Breach Elite and Tholian RA's ... These are essentially unplayable now.

cryptic increased difficulty in STFs? i guess that explains why i'm taking heavier damage from the gates and cubes.

Not necessarily. Back in the days of CoH we had a dev admit on the forums that it wasn't an uncommon occurrence for the devs there to put constant complainers like edge on their ignore lists.

    Well there's a difference between a squeaky wheel and an *******. :D

Guys we've told you over and over again: WE DO NOT LIKE STEALTH UPDATES.

Reading the latest threads and playing the game a bit you've snuck in some of them again. Be it positive stuff like foundry rewards or the fact that some of the elite content (voth & undine) has become quite a bit harder.

Please notify us of such changes. Thank you! :)

    Nope.

This game survived season 7 and the ultimate stealth update. Cryptic believes it can do no wrong and until less than 1k people log on and do things they're probably right.

Sorry but not enough people left the game in season 7 to bring this rotten mass down around Cryptic's head. Lots did, but not enough.

    Yep.

Reputation system wrecked every STF that was in play at that point. Which mainly at the time meant Omega/Borg farming. Which at the time players thought was just fine prefering RNG on their timetable rather than the game's Reputation Time Table.

DoFF's got axed to the point of farming them becoming pointless. (They never changed this back)

And the conversion ratios? Oh boy were they a joke...

Dilithium gains were restricted so badly you could farm all day at the start and not hit the 8k limit. (Oh and for AT LEAST a couple of weeks after.) that people left the game enmasse. They eventually fixed this i have no idea when they did but thankfully they did. With the costs of some of these projects a player should not have to put in 50 hours in one week for an item.

I don't know at this point how many are new players and how many are returning ones.

But Season 7 had incredibly vocal resistance from the playerbase saying you need to phase the changes in rather than drop them cold turkey when it became clear that they were going to do it no matter what.

Then Cryptic acts like they heard the players then drops it in cold turkey in the single most tone deaf move i've seen outside of NGE in SWG.

Fortunately/unfortunately depending on your position this game had enough in mindless sheeple masses to keep buying zen and kept this game afloat.

So yeah. It might have made dollars and cents for cryptic. But in terms of cryptic's image within the industry, with the image of perfect world tarnished this way? It was their biggest TRIBBLE up of the company's life. And it left a PERMANENT impression. Same as the TRIBBLE NCsoft pulled.

This directly effected Neverwinter though no one will ever admit to it. How is that game doing by the way?

So yeah. Cryptic wont ever stop the stealth updates because they got away with the ultimate in stealth updates and too many playing just dont give a damn.

Outside of the lowered dilithium I was very happy this happened. I still am.

Yes that was mean. Was it evil even? Absolutely. Was it lucrative? Yes. Will it ever be changed back? No. Is it really that big of a deal? Not really.

I know that sounds a bit harsh now and I know things are a bit more complicated but given the amount of times this is happening it's not acceptable. Period.

Ummmm, I think all 3, of those are the same thing. And to be honest, we shouldn't be informed of every single update. Here's a fun idea. Just play the game and see what changed. I hardly ever look at the updates before I play the patched game. It keeps it interesting when you don't know what's coming. The only time we really need to know are for events that are only around for a short time. And if that doesn't interest you, then think about this. Huge company, hundreds of different jobs being done at once, its impossible to keep everything running perfectly. There's always bound to be quite a few instances of lost memos and forgotten info. It happens. You should be happy you have a functioning game to play.

I understand your point of view. It's legit. The problem I have with it is that in such a huge game it's very often not possible to tell bug apart from what they actually wanted to do. That's very very frustrating. Also makes submitting bug reports kinda pointless if you ask me.

Furthermore, at least to me, it's also a matter of respect and shows how much attention they pay to certain things. This in turn kinda hints how much attention they pay to other things.

Nope. I was one of the people who crunched the numbers. It wasnt just players being inactive that caused the price of zen to drop so low.

    I don't remember that.

Auto Assault, Tabula Rasa, And Guild Wars one. I was there too. What they did in the deployment of the season 7 patch and how they tried to sneak it past players made me SICK.

Never will they be any higher. Good thing most of the games on that list are garbage right?

Are you done? No. Really. Are you done? Because really all I'm seeing right now is vitriolic whining and entitled BS that only someone with the mentality of a five year old can spout and still be so self-righteous. If you don't like it, don't play, because honestly, I doubt you have anything positive to contribute either to the game or to the forums.

Short version seeing as you likely also have the attention span of said five year old: Grow. The. Hell. Up.

I speak for me, not you - I did not give you permission.

I like the odd surprise in my MMOs, it keeps it fresh and interesting for me. It's like having an extra birthday from time to time. So if the Devs want to throw the odd update hidden in a maintenance time, great, gives me new things to look for - an easter egg hunt, if you will.

The other problem with the stealth updates is that it often prevents us from praising Cryptic.

I'm serious: Sometimes they change something and the change can honestly be said to be an improvement beyond a shadow of a doubt, and yet don't tell us. At season 8 they fixed a bug with the diburnium-reinforced body armor that gave its visuals back, and before that they gave a new feature to the Foundry editor. And with season 9 they added a repeatable dil bonus mission for completing a Foundry mission.

And none of the above were in the patch notes.

Seriously, I would love to be able to praise Cryptic for something instead of being critical all the time, but you gotta tell us.

The Breach was actually pretty much okay before. It was the Borg STFs that needed a bump.

Breech was made for the power creep setup ships - that didn't make it ok, same goes for Hive elite.

No game content should have to rely on npcs having "immune" status to all DPS and 400k insta gib attacks - and they did due to power creep.

Power creep took an arrow to the knee and now you see some content for what it truly is and always was - a joke.

My support characters are getting some use now - I've even used the "Attract Fire" on my Oddy and had a Sci healing me - first time since it came out I've used that on any of my cruisers.
Elite content should be about teamwork, not escorts tanking while throwing out 50k DPS.

Perhaps now, the content can be properly balanced to represent what it is. Not just DPS epeen contests, that grow tiresome after a week.

Ah but what everyone has failed to see is that ever since Season 7 all of the devs have been assimilated by the assimilated Deferi and now everything in the game must be "Balanced with the Universe"!

I say balance it this way...

Park about 10 Scimitar's in orbit around Defara and let loose the Dogs of War!

Borg GONE, Deferi (assimilated and non-assimilated) GONE, Devs GONE!

Then we will have "Balance" in the Universe and no more "surprises"!

Now my children go Nuke'em all! Hades and I will sort them out later!

    Agreed.

While I do have some setups saved on a few of my ships to maximize DPS (for the occasional need to simply steamroll over everything), I prefer to have the challenge and actually work with a group. It makes the game more enjoyable for me.

As for stealth updates, not really to worried about it unless it affects my characters in some fashion (i.e. appearance, gear, bank holdings, loadouts, etc., etc.,). If they increase the level of AI, not a problem. I'll do as everyone else should, learn and adapt. Reliance on a single setup is a crutch that can hurt you in the long run as the game progresses.
