    I don't buy it that starfleet, klingon empire, and the romulan republic would spend time trying to get these ships into the hands of their captains to fly.     IF I open any of these boxes, it will be for the traits, the kits, and the Lobi. Maybe the MU ships.

    IF by some chance I actually got a ship out of one, I will be actively seeking to trade it for something I do want and would fly. (Offers of Wells or D'Koras will be gladly entertained in that case... :D )

    The lockbox ship may actually outperform the Scimitar. Which is a BAD thing.

    Putting aside the stupidity of Undine ships which has already been covering it seems a somewhat baffling move when they are making changes in S9 to tackle power creep.

    Well I guess the Mirror Mogai might be nice for the skin.

    Although I would've preferred a Mirror Ar'Kif so I could try using the skin from that on my Fleet Ar'Kif, seeing as the fleet skin is still not working properly for that ship (Yet another triumph for Cryptic Q&A :rolleyes:)

    Time to transfer a few hundred more keys over to Tribble so I can see if these things are really worth it. They always seem good on paper and then are lackluster in game compared to C-Store ships.

    if you read carefully... it says the lockbox ship. That has 5 tac consoles! and a good turn rate. It has a good chance to beat a scimitar..

    So the undine cruiser comes with pretty much the boff layout we asked for the galaxy class ??

    I mean if you look at the overall stats of the undine cruiser it has exactly what the galaxy class should be at least near to...

    I boggle every time I see a non fed ship that's larger than any fed ship with twice the turn rate...

    I agree. Much OP. But you know what? IT'S THE FREAKIN NICOR. First time you ever see one, it nukes a cube into nothing. In 3 shots. Second time you see one. It takes on 12 cubes. Solo. No sweat. And then causes an Intrepid-class starship to FLIP. END. OVER. END. With a MISS. The frakkin thing better be OP.

    I think this is quite possibly the only lockbox I will ever spend money on. Because holy ballz. We get Undine ships. I'M IN LOVE!!!!
    It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once. B)

    Sorry ... devils advocate here ... but aren't the Federation, Klingons and Romulans the ones that keep sticking their noses into every other species business... and well ... exterminating them?

    Borg? Voth? Iconians? Tal Shiar? and now Undine....

    Can we just all agree on one thing.. Who's the real xenophobics around here but the player factions.

    And well does xenophobic even apply?

    Clearly the Voth, the Iconian and the Undine are vastly superior in intellect and development compared to the Federation, Klingon and orphan An'ney. I mean just look at what they have achieved technology wise.

    I just don't think that xenophobic tendencies would apply. When a human kills an insect he does not hate the insect. He kills it merely because he can.

    Not to mention the Scim's big bang attack is AOE vs single target here, and the Scim can not only battle cloak, but can fire while doing it. Everything about the scim is OP, it will take something really special to outdo it.

    Hold on, people still think the Rep change was about limiting power creep and not about setting bounding boxes for the design team when it came to making new content?

    I'm pretty sure i've gone over the whole "Balance in a Game Vs. Balance in s TV Show" before, but for the uneducated among us, i'll reiterate.

    TV show doesn't need to be balanced. Hell, TV shows are as unbalanced as they could be - because despite the Nicor's uberpower appearances, Voyager still survived.

    A game, on the other hand, does need balance. And balance is not achieved by saying "This thing was cool in the show, let's make it equally as powerful in the game!" If that were the case, everyone would only fly the Galaxy, Defiant or Intrepid as they'd always win the day.

    If you think that this is a good idea, then I dare say you also think that it'd be a good idea to add the classic, one-shot-to-disintegrate TOS hand phasers. Because hey, who cares about balance, right?

    Trust me. Overall, i've no issue with them adding the Nicor. But it should not be this powerful. Five tac consoles on a non-Fleet/C-Store ship? That's madness.

    5 tactical consoles and 8 weapon slots? This means it is even more powerful than a Jem'hadar attack ship!

    The lockbox ship is much closer (but he was quoting Bort who was talking about the lobi ship boff stations)

    and it looks crazy powerful. Will the loss of a boff station (losing a SO of Infiltrator doff) and lack of a hangar bay put it behind the Scimi? Not sure, guess we'll have to wait and see.

    Either way, crazy powerful.

    My conclusion...

    Cryptic will continue to make changes, which will eventually cause "STO" to eat itself. Regardless about how fans may challenge Cryptic's logic, the company will continue down a path of self destruction.

    ...and, they will have no one else to blame.

    I'd take the Nicor's stats, console layout, and BOFF seats and shove it into the Galaxy Class...

    BECAUSE I WANT TO FLY A DPS ORIENTED GALAXY CLASS!

    Sorry I couldn't help myself after seeing the 8472 ship stats.

    Also, I hate to see a new species' ships, which are supposed to be a 'threat' end up in a lock box, to be used by those who pay enough.

    It is ridiculous. A ship that uses alien technology, but is otherwise Fed, Klingon or Romulan in design and origin like the Dyson ones? Fine. But it is simply stupid to have all the major, 'dangerous' aliens being reduced to lock box items.
