I completely agree! Feature Episodes being 5 missions long also instead of the bulk of the story coming from poorly written blogs.
If the 5 missions could be done well, then I think there are many reasons to do this. I personally didn't like in "Step Between Stars" the rewards. I like the ship reward but to get the full space set you would have to play through the mission 3 times which I only did on my main character, though I've never used it, because on any of my under lvl 50 characters the set pieces were under level and almost instantly outdated. For my lvl 50 characters I have Rep equipment on some and would have gotten the set if it hadn't meant playing the mission 3 times per character. While I enjoy having featured episodes more frequently, if it is only one episode would have preferred a mark package, a special ground item like Shard of Possibilities, a special space item like Pirate Distress Call, or Dilithium which was a reward of "Step Between Stars" but not on the first play through. Don't get me wrong though I did like the episode, and it advanced the story very well in my opinion and I suppose importantly for an endgame episode tied into the rep fairly well, I will always hope for another Spectres. I could also like if the episodes since they are endgame one be everyone lvl 10 and up play with the ship and perhaps 2 or three more unlocked by rep ranks. Who knows, whatever it is I'll enjoy it, just my ideas.

For what it's worth, we brought back Rotating Weapon Frequency and just combined it into the new power that was previously taking its place.

Thank god. That was really the only reason I pressed OMEGA rep. The rotating ability made Borg stfs bearable.
No, I am not who you think I am. I am someone different. I am instead a banana.

    Thank you for coming.

Ok, listen up, the starshp U.S.S. Long Suffering Customer has reported that they have detected the starship P.W.E. Season 9 on their long range scanners heading our way at high warp. Their Quantum Slip Stream keeps cutting out, so that gives us time.

They report that it's armed with Game Breaking Torpedo's and Nerf Phasers as well as a ARC Lance Weapon that targets right up your shuttle bay. They also believe that it's staffed with Dev's, this race have a habit of not telling everything and going back on their plans, so be on guard.

Last we heard the Long Suffering Customer was hit with a Ban Tractor Beam and hauled away to somewhere quiet so the crew can't give a honest opinion on their vessel's operation. We wish them well on in the other galaxy's where they can tell their opinion.

The Klingon Empire has amassed it's entire fleet to slow them down with complaints and bug reports. The Gorn are strutting around in DS9 wearing Risa barely covering swimsuits. This also should give us more time to prepare for this bug invasion, even if we have no idea why they are doing this in the first place.

    Good luck.

    * starts giving out phaser bug spray's and disruptor fly swatters *

ROFLMAO this made me laugh :D

You could add in there especially if this ends the fed/kdf war if they are still offering up federation debris for dilithium in pi canis lol. Odds are though its going to be removed since it was never given any time to fix those massive amounts of bugs and glitches plus I never do it anymore just because I am too lazy when it comes to the data samples I just recycle them lol. Your post even though its funny as anything its got so much truth into it and being this game has gotten way off track from an actual trek game and the giveth and taketh away aspect of it all that combined I just can't find a reason to return to STO or even be excited about season 9 . Just seems like they did some more TRIBBLE foundry type release for this. They said oh we don't give foundry enough love? Okay lets make a full season of content all out of the foundry legos and all lol.

I hope they give us some proper story line episodes this time instead of giving us those crappy tutorials with only 2 actual real episodes, what a rip. Do better STO, we love you make us proud & give us a full season of actual episodes & don't fill the season up with rubbish tutorials like you did for season 8, we know you can do better than that we've seen it. Makes us proud =)

I cannot say I am excited about anything new coming from this season. If anything, I feel like the game is getting much more boring and dry.

One of my favorite abilities (Rotating Weapon Frequency) is getting canned and none of the new stuff is appealing to me at all. It's just more grinding for gear that is lateral to what we already have.

I thought that they had changed their minds on that.

I'm glad its coming out soon, but what people really need to hear from the Borg is:

I am Locutus of the Borg.

How can I help you today?

    Will dearly miss Commendations.

Do we get hourly events back?
    Are Romulan marks still obnoxious-to-earn/scarce?

The amount of Romulan marks rewarded for content has not been changed. But with the Rep changes, all Rep content will now reward a daily bonus (once per character with a 20 hour cooldown) with enough marks to run a daily + an hourly + 10 marks extra. So you could run one Romulan Rep mission and get enough marks to fill your daily project and have marks left over. Also once you hit tier 5 you'll still get that daily bonus for the marks which will help when saving up for buying rep items.

For that same reason, losing the commendations from the Dyson rep will actually be beneficial. :)

Think they should add some fun grind material like borg have for the Romulan faction.
Most space borg missions are nice and rather fun (as fun as grinding can get that is after doing untold number of them :P ).

Romulan is just a bother and I did not even bother with the rep until this spring when I could get acceptable amount from that horrible mirror invasion.

They should really start working on fun stuff in game instead of mind boggling boring grinding.

We were just playtesting it on Tribble today. Two systems designers and three content designers flying around having a blast. It was really fun, can't wait to get it in all of your hands! :)

After seeing mirror event and this Junior Officer Appreciation event, I don't think your designers know what fun is. :P

The winter event was fun, kind of remember that summer event might have been fun (though not that sure so it probably was not overwhelming fun). But lets face it most stuff your designers added are mostly unfun grinding that makes players long for other games.

You really need new people that design the basic for the events so they are fun. Not saying that your designers don't know what they are doing, but..... we have got quite a lot of buggy events with obvious designer flaws if you get my drift. :P

Yeah I do agree with that, the Romulan Rep system really needs some better content to do. Generally for my characters doing that Rep, I run New Romulus once then just work on Epohhs to get the marks haha.

i like the changes to the rep system to it is much needed and will actually bring more teamwork into missions by trying to bring different abilities into missions if your grouped with people, bravo and well done

You do realize that we get random stranger in most fleet action that is not a pre-made group?

If we need all roles (standard from most MMO, 1 tank, 1 healer and 2 DPS) waiting will go up and there is no guarantee that people will behave according to their role (and it is hell to be DPS waiting in most MMO).

I like that the role is not needed in this game. It was refreshing from the same old, same old. :)

Oh, by the way, while I'm here, I thought I would post this question for other players, that I've been pondering.

Why don't the FEDs have a frigate-class hangar pet? I mean, the Klingons have the Birds-of-prey, the Romulans have their romulan drone ships, but what have we FEDs got?

True, you can get the ultra-rare ultra-expensive Jem'Hadar escort, or the Tholian mesh weaver, but the FEDs need something that everyone can buy.

I call for a frigate-class hangar pet for FED characters. Am I just being stupid, or is there some sense in what I'm saying?

WOW - a week earlier than predicted.

Looking forward to the new release (nerfs, redesigns, and re-rebalancing).

Actually, from past experiences, new releases just fill me with trepidation (outages, new bugs, and re-introduction of old bugs). Play STO from the April 22nd to at least May 9th at your own risk.

The Aquarius would make a good frigate pet. But I think the Miranda is a bit too big.

The 22nd, eh? Moving away from Thursday Seasonal releases? I was thinking the release date would be the 24th...not that I'm complaining or anything. ;)

It's Tuesday the 22nd because they can still run the regular patch-maintenance downtime two days later to fix all the broken stuff they sent live. If it was Thursday the 24th, they'd wait until after the weekend, or possibly a full week, before fixing their TRIBBLE.

I completely agree we need a frigate. This is why I don't use carriers on my Fed characters. They could make frigates that look like slightly smaller versions of the Defiant, or they could design something else.

Season 9 is launching on a Tuesday?

Uh - Oh. I have a very bad feeling about this....

Doesn't anyone else remember what happened to the last ship that launched from spacedock incomplete??? Remember... Tractor beams were supposed to be installed on Tuesady? Medical crew was supposed to report for duty on Tuesday???

Didn't that ship experience something nasty, just hours out of Spacedock???

Actually, we complain with each new release that they're never learning from their mistakes... perhaps this is a show of a lesson learned. Update on Tuesday, bugs are expected (can't find everything), then offer time to repatch anything in need on Thursday...

    Excited too...

    Brace for impact.
U.S.S. Cryptic is launching another bug torpedo, this time a class season 9.
Darn we have not yet managed to handle damage control from the last couple of torpedoes class season 6 to 8.

Honestly though, should you not at least try to fix up mess from last couple of seasons before entering another batch of bugs? :P

I'm supposed to be excited. And I was.. until I learned that Hawk is going to nerf my reps for 50%, and leave me with 4 measly passives. So, now I'm not so excited any more. In fact, I'm wondering whether I ever want to do another rep again. I'm going to get a gimped ship, come season 9, and a dev I can no longer trust to let us keep what they dangled in front of us to get.

    Warping off.
