I've been playing this game for quite some time. My original toon, and the one I play the most is a tactical officer. I've always been partial to running Escorts. They're fun, and when played properly can pack a serious punch!
So I own the Jem'Hadar Heavy Escort Carrier and Dreadnaught. When this recent promotion came out for the bug ship, I totally had to get it to complete the set. Bam. Jem'Hadar Attack Ship Acquired. I was so happy! Got the Elite Fleet hangar item for my dreadnaught and so on. Now running it for a while, she was pretty decent in terms of damage output, definitely on the upper end. I compared it to the Hunter Heavy escort, and that ship has so much more damage capability, survivability and so on. The Hirogen escort is by far a superior ship. this was very disappointing because that ship wasn't anywhere close to 400 million EC.
What do you guys think?

So your point is that you prefer the Hirogen ship better and think it should be worth more EC?
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
Nope! Its just that anyone would expect to get more out of a ship they paid 400 million EC than one that was only 70 million. That's the point I'm getting at. The attack ship is not worth that much.

The JHAS is worth that much because of its rarity.
It is also hands down one of the best ships in the game for dogfighting and has far superior handling characteristics than the Hirogen ship.
The reason the Bug costs that much is because it is one of the best Escorts in the game; but also because it unlocks one of the best Carrier Pets in the game. I think most people want it for their Dread and the Pets then to just fly it. And since it has two advantages: good ship and good pets, people are willing to pay more for it.
I am just glad I bought all 3 of mine for around 150 million each.

I find the major thing with the JHAS is the turn and speed, IMO, Again IMO I find the JHAS far, far more deadly than the Hirogen escort, 60k Hull , 5 tac consoles, 2pc borg / Fleet shields. I have tried running a similar setup Boff/doff wise same items ( well as close to it the Hirogen gets another Armor ) and hands down it pops a hella lot faster in PvP. PvE IDK been quite sometime since I popped in either doing STF's ect.

Remember that those prices are made and subsequently paid by players. A Tuffli isn't worth TRIBBLE in terms of performance, yet they're more expensive than a hunter as well.
The bug was an awesome ship then all the new 5 tac ships came out, its not as amazing as it was but, if you want bug fighters or you like the style/ are a collector then its the way to go, its not worth the ec by any means.
Devs please nerf exchange maximum price from 500M to 200M and it'll OK
Actual key price 2,7M/125zen....21 600EC = 1zen
JHAS price 450M/21,6k= 20 833 zen
While your at it Please Nerf all pricing, make everything 1 ec. I mean honestly if something is too expensive dont buy it. I drive domestic sedan, should I be asking BMW to nerf their pricing because their higher end sedan is more money? No that would make me look silly......
IMO the Hirogen Escort's BOff layout is superior to the JHAS. It allows to slot both Aux2Damp and Aux2Bat which, in unison with a purple Suliban Matter-Antimatter-DOff and three purple Technicians, has an incredible output in both turnrate and resistances. Also it allows to slot only one copy of each BOff power for almost 100% uptime.
Granted the JHAS can also use Aux2bat, however it can't use it together with Aux2damp.
I like the Hunter don't get me wrong its just not =.
THe reason the JHAS goes for 400-500... and in the next 3 months back to 700. Is simple.
You are only able to pick one up for a few weeks once or twice a year at most. While anyone that will be willing to open a hirogen box for ever more will be able to pull one.
So there is a constant supply of Hunters.
JHAS are a very limited supply it is NOT a lockbox ship.
Believe it or not most people are not stupid... they know if they got a Jem ship right now... that after a month or two of the current promotion ending... they will all dry up on the exchange... and go back to back ally trade deals for 600-800 million ec each.

I think that you cannot afford it and are sad its such highly priced.
Too bad, STO's exchange has always been a free market, and there is no point in posting or discussing it. Only vets seem to respect it these days, newcomers and f2p'ers always want to nerf it all, cuz yeah, game is free2play right? Why spend money or pay on stuff in a game these days
Oh wait, f2p is what ruined this whole game in the first place.

I think you didn't do your homework, and now try to put the blame elsewhere.
in my opinion the bug ship is not even worth it for the pets when i got better pets for my dread as is cause in all honesty just the idea of u need this ship to unlock pets for the dread is more stupid then a cat sitting in a trash can. plus in all honesty my risa vette can out dogfight any bug ship i been up aainst so far ^_^

I hardly know where to start. But let's begin with the fact that A2D and A2B are on a shared CD. No way you'll get a pair of both down to global (in such a way that you'll enjoy contiguous A2B + contihuous resists for A2D). And good luck with your A2D resists when you keep draining your aux with A2B!
JHAS has same boff station layout as Fleet Patrol Escort; and, with its Universal Ensign, makes for a very sturdy ship.

On a ship like the Hunter you don't need 2 copies... you tag team a2d and a2b... you run one Matter anti matter and 3 tech doffs. That gives you 24s of a2d every 30s. and a 30% cool down reduction every 30 as well as one copy of a2b reduces its own cool down from 45s.
EPTS EPTE A2D A2B.... works very well on the hunter. When you hit a2d your aux isn't at 5... because your not stupidly chaining 2 copies of a2b when you only need one on an escort. Also all the energy dmg reduction comes from the doff which isn't effected by aux anyway. Regardless you will be hitting aux to damp at your standard 45-75 aux power depending on what you set things to. Also you can throw a spire warp core on and flip to Full aux setting in about 2s before hitting a2d if you really want massive turn.

In its native form, A2D only adds kinetic damage resistance. And that is very much affected by aux power. With the purple Matter-Antimatter doff resistence is added for energy wep dmg too. I'm not in game right now; but I'm fair certain my tests showed all dmg resists, doff included, are affected by aux levels.
Anyway, yours doesn't look like your typical auto-cycle setup, but I may give that a try too.
Depends, you can see that risan outfit is 10 mill currently, and it used to be free, and it will be again soon
The point is, item is worth as much as someone is WILLING to pay for it.
Is it better that hunter?
In most cases no. There are other ship that i find better then bug currently.
That does not mean that next time when cryptic releases patch notes that wont change.
Bug will always be one of the best escorts (not the best by far currently).
If it wasn't connected to the carrier I wonder how much it would be worth. I am sure a lot but seems like the demand would go down for it by a decent amount.
Be nice if they were to add the pet to a rep tab like the scorpions or provide a second means to getting the pets even a lesser version to some other place then having to get the ship.

Was just in game ya its +35% all energy resistance no matter the aux level.
Still ya by rocking the 2 back and forth you shouldn't really have to worry about hitting a2d with low aux anyway. If you get into a turn battle with a bug or something... switch to a high aux setting for a few seconds... then for 24s you will out turn them for the most part unless they are using the same trick.
The spire warp core works really really well on the hirogen with a2b / a2d. The power drain resist is awsome when a2b is up your weapons hit very hard... and if you need to swap to a high aux setting for a few seconds the increased power transfer on that core is pretty awsome. I have been using that with hazards 2 and a PH with omegas... between the resistance from the PH and Damp doff... and switching to a higher aux setting before using any of it. It is very tanky. That ship also has 4 engi consoles so I been running 2-3 armors on it.
As others have said it really is a great ship and very underrated by most people. Anyone that doesn't have one should grab one while they are inexpensive. To be honest I don't see many people opening the hirogen boxes down the line. Just not enough in it to justify the key over opening an elachi or one of the other boxes with a good return on it.

1) objectively, the JHAS is expensive because of the difficulty in acquisition, which is totally true
2) subjectively, the JHAS isn't worth the price it's being sold at, which is also true (the Romulan warbirds have more or less rendered it obsolete)
