Exactly! I'm encouraged that the devs are even experimenting with a more puzzle and deduction based scenario like this. I hope it works, but more so glad the devs are willing to try out something different like this. Sure, sometimes I just wanna shoot things. But I like using my brain too, and this is Star Trek. Missions like this, dealing with the threat Undine pose as infiltrators, is very much a Star Trek scenario, with the crew having to play detective and uncover a mystery.

As for why bioscanners don't work, well. When shapeshifted into someone, biologically, an Undine is that person. They're weird like that. Changelings are even weirder. A Changeling shapeshifted into a rock is, according to all scanners, a rock. That should be impossible, yet... there it is.

My only concern is that the lowest common denominator won't play the mission and thus Cryptic will believe that it is a failure and won't do more.

Personally, I think they should beef up the rewards to take into account it rewards critical thinking skills -- which will thus encourage more players to use their brain. And encouraging other human beings to think is something I think the world needs more of, and should be rewarded appropriately.

Also, because I want to farm it over and over again. (At least I'm honest.)

This all + 10 thousand. Couldn't have said it better myself.

While we're at it, can we have a Contested Zone rewards buff? Because it's empty as-is.

I understand these Qued events but is there gonna be any story arc missions added or just more cutscences?

Hey now it was that one time, and I was using that Phaser I bought off some Ferengi up on Deep Space Nine, how was I to know it had a bent alignment coil?

Didn't they teach you a bout Ferengi at the Academy?

    ...

Looks (and sounds) like fun! ... There have been a few posts in the Tribble forums about this mission, and it really sounds like we're finally getting a "Team" map ... From what's been said on there, with the pre-release version at least, it's the kind of mission that can be really aced easily with a good team, yet still fun.

(kinda' like the Mirror Invasion was meant to be I guess, except "griefers" "AFK'ers" and "newbs" have spoiled it)
Oh, hoho hohhhhh, Oh,, hoho, hohhhhh

This really sounds fun. Shame its for group players, and not solo for just me and my away team. At least give us that option too.

I'm still waiting on the more solo type missions.

    This is a genuine concern.

Cryptics blind devotion to the GREAT GOD METRICS WHO MUST BE OBEYED has lead them into some pretty stupid decisions in the past.

This new approach to the story telling in STO is to be applauded.

I'd hate to see it deemed a failure for utterly statistical reasons.

+1. Why rush it in 15-20 minutes while it's a very welcome change of pace from shoot first, ask questions later.

these missions sounds like terrodome broken up into 2 or 3 different missions.

I was thinking of a variation on Mind Trap.

I agree, I would love it as a several part chain mission. Like some of the other ones. However I can see why they want it short. Unless I que with friends, most pugs I'm ready to leave after a few mins. Due to the attitudes, etc. I had my fill of it during my WoW days.

    Wow.

Very Trek. Nice, peaceful-ish mission! What worries me is people who will join looking for a fight though...
Or that nobody will join at all, because less pew pew pew.

If this plays at Bajor then i should get my bajoran costume and start flipping coins at the corner of random streets.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

This is an example of outside-the-box thinking that I encourage to continue.

This isn't hitting your spacebar and creating large numbers... this is using your brain.

Suck it, haters. If you don't want to use your brain, you can keep your DPS e-peens going on how fast you can complete ISE with a min-maxed build using the current flavor-of-the-month.

I'll just be over here on Bajor exercising my deductive skills. :D

    +1 internets to you!

Finally, a ground mission that I won't completely loathe. Something that requires a little thought is a nice change from the completely comatose "blast away until one of us drops" that makes up too many ground missions in this game.

This may actually start to restore some of my faith in PWE/Cryptic. :D

Hey, here's a question: if we are Klingons and/or Orions, can't we just start with an orbital bombardment followed by an invasion and decapitation of the Bajoran leadership to route out the Undine just like we did with the Gorn?

This makes little sense, why would the undine use BAJOR???? A relatively non-significant planet (considering where it lies in the folklore) with non combatant and non politically clouted species?

Makes little to no sense to their motives.

How many replays, I wonder, before people will just know who is Undine and who is Bajoran?

Even if the game randomizes it there are only so many different questions and answers that will give away the answers.

Short of a coin-flip, which allows for no deductive reaosning at all, I don't see a way around it.

It's new now, so people that avoid spoilers can get some time in figuring it out, but eventually they will figure it out.

This will get boring fast. Once we know who the infiltrators are and learn the correct sequence of questions, we'll be in cakewalk city.

Not unless every attempt of the mission is different - different people to question and quarantine each attempt.

Seems like someone could have created a mission like this in an afternoon of foundry facerolling.

The idea is good, but the practicality of the mission sounds like yawn city.

Yeah is why there is nothing really in STO anymore that makes me excited to login lol. Basically I was just keeping dilithium up for the longest time but after that dreaded mirror grind and these dev blogs about removing options we already grinded for I just couldn't bother. Although I am close to just uninstalling it if none of these season 9 blogs appeal to me.

Yeah odds are the cut a section out of bajor and inserted terradome stuff here and there, flip coin, spam f for stuff, and wait 15 mins for it to end. Pretty much foundry content at its best with coin flip insert heh.

Whoa whoa whoa...whoa. Undine trying to get a foot in the Alpha Quadrant door right underneath, metaphorically speaking of course, DS9? Probably planning on either taking over the station, or just plain blowing it up!

    Ballsy move, Undine.

+ reusing a nice zone that there just wasn't a whole lot you could do with other then that 1 mission.

    - what possible reason and unidine motivation could there be for wide spread infiltration on backwards little bajor?

In regards of to the second part, Bajor is THE ideal place for the Undine to infiltrate and let slip the fact that they are there. Since the Cardassians occupied Bajor and the atrocities that were committed the Bajorans do not readily trust others and as was shown in "Of Bajor" many Bajorans still do not trust the Federation completely and viewed the staging base as a sign of occupation. Now with the threat of the Undine the Federation, Klingon Empire, and Romulan Republic are interrogating and even taking "Bajorans" into custody. This will rile up protestors and other groups, fueled by previous experiences and fear meanwhile the Undine will add fuel to the fire.

To the devs, I love the choice of location.

I must admit that I wonder if this mission is really suited to be multiplayer, at least the investigation parts.

If it works, did you considering creating CSI Online?
