Making the injuries more injurious, such that players won't say "oh I can just ignore them", might help. At present, a Mild Injury reduces the effectiveness of the damaged system by 5%, a Moderate Injury by 10%, and a Critical Injury by 20%. Multiplying this percentage by three or four would motivate players to heal their injuries ASAP rather than just trying to shrug them off.
Game won't let you queue with at least 1 critical injury, 3 major injuries, 5 minor injuries or 1 major and 3 minor injuries.
Problem solved?
This!!!
Make it so your first officer pops up and wont let you queue. All of us who played Bridge Commander hated our first officer, Saffi Larsen, but she was always right. I don't mind a few injuries but man..some people really stack them on.
you have all been there, 5 man team, 2 team mates having a crazy amount of injuries, left unattended. often time these folks end up taking a few pot shot and afk for the rest of match, or they may come alive during boss battle (to get credit) i was thinking if you have above a certain amount of injuries you cannot q for team events. (who wants a teammate so debuffed by dmg before the match that they cannot tank or do dmg?) this wont stop true farmers, but it will improve dmg/ tanking among teams in pve q's. heres hoping this gets a good look over:) perfect world , and cryptic, you have done great things for this game, been a happy player for many years, here is to many more!
<Rutt
the whole injury system has been fubar since my first day in the game. tbh it needs to be taken care of at some point including a visual damage like legacy but more advanced, i mean you see chunks of ship getting torn away and exposed decks with force fields and eletrical charges sparking away, bright hot burns around the edge parts... in an ideal world of course.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
Yea, but he kinda claimed Normals was a good thing... However, with a Normal run, you don't get BNP's, and as such won't be able to get the top-grade gear.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
I've been saying this for ages myself. Queue should not allow you to enter Elites when you have *any* ship injury. Period. What, you're an inexperienced player and you don't know exactly what ship injuries are?! Then you have no business in an Elite to begin with!
Why, when I was a whelp.......(bangs on and on about the olde days and how we had to walk to the academy, up hill, both ways)
when I am only averaging 500 EC a gig cause I almost always hit "greed" on the need/greed/pass, does it really pay? Even when I am grinding up for something helpfull?

Ok, if you're level 50 and only getting 500 Ec a run, then you're doing something to get in the way of your own eventual riches

You must be doing something vewy, vewy wrong. :P
No, seriously. Even an accidental Mk XI shield you discard will land you ca. 20,000-35,000 EC. In fact, you have to go out of your way to only get 500 EC per round.
Also, Minor/Major components just drop themselves. Never had any need to *buy* them (except maybe in my first week at lv 50). Been running Elites ever since, and never had to replenish them manually.

Uhhhh.... to do that you literally need to hit "pass" on everything.

Pro tip: Hit need. Everybody does that.
And if you simply don't want that... well you can hardly complain not getting stuff if you don't take stuff.
And your teammates will want you to have your ship repair over you passing on loot.
sometimes we forget... I've had several runs with no injuries and then a run chock full of injuries and forgot to go heal. it's why i keep supplies on me
I didn't sell any repair parts for ships for a year, they are all in my bank, I can heal anywhere, anytime. There is no excuse for not repairing your ship.

Indeed. First thing you die when you die (fortunately not that often for me) is to NOT ignore that big red text that says 'DAMAGED' when you respawn and press 'U'.
Common courtesy, really, towards your team mates, to heal yourself. And not show up damaged at all.
Definite need to help eliminate this issue for sure I approve of, there should be no excuses for those who allow for so many injuries to accumulate before a match.
And the funny part is, of all the 'hard' things to program (like reliable AFK-testing), preventing ppl to queue for Elites with injuries would actually be trivial, with 0 false positives.

not letting players with injuries join
I can see the posts now.......

I thought WoW's forums had angry elitist snobs, but I never could have imagined the level STO forums has.
good luck getting bnp's
Oh good, i bow before your clearly superior understanding.
Only thing is, how does your solution fix the problem in the good old fashioned pug?
Because, you see, what the OP proposed does exactly that.
Make a requirement of entry to an STF, or other team based queue event, a clean bill of ship health and, BINGO, problem solved.
Your solution, wise and cunning as it obviously is, only works for premades.
...stuff like this...(sorry for the image quality I'm not very good with that kind of thing, plus it's an old pic, saved in the wrong format)
Borg ESTFs are easy peasy though.

Sounds like a nerf to me!
Time to nerf the nerf, nerfing people who nerf themselves.

yup show up with the buff debuffs
What? A whole 2000 EC?
