There is not many premade left into the game and queu all day !
It will be nice to see new fleets or even the old one forming premade team insted of leaving the game. There is a counter to everything like vaper, FAW team and ppl that are spamming all thing ppl consider P2W , we beat that with normal premade , just need to adapt !
The game is allways fun and relevent agaist the other fleet !
We run normal setup like the oldschool setup 2 escort , 3 sci, so ya come pwn us , we need chalange !

People or premades do not always leave the game because they cant adapt, but because there is no skill left in achieving things.
If you want real competition find another game, or wait for SC.

You know you wanted to jump in last night when you heard my sexy battle cry!! And seriously, World of Tanks?! Come on man, War Thunder is the future. Open beta for tanks is coming soon and the planes are fun in the meantime. Although it is quite grindy when you get up in the ranks, which is why I don't play it as much any more.

Who want's to get into pvp anymore? Any new players are torn apart in seconds and don't come back, and any old players find other games to fill their need to beat other people over the head.
The 'need to adapt' only comes as easily as you think it does after one has spent countless hours reading up on every bit of info on items, power levels, strategies, counters, and the such, while at the same time going into dozens of matches to test builds and see what works and does not. Who has time for that anymore, and how can that be considered fun?

well, also pugging is becoming hard...
Cryptic do not spend a cent on pvp and there is no reason to play it. We have a lot of (repetitive) pve content that reward with marks, items and a lot of dilithium[1] but only a few (not really) daily to earn a few dilithium or fleetmarks. I think a lot of people will start playing pvp if we have a better system (not onlky/simply a 5vs5 challenge) and some king of better reward (ex. some kind of ranking based on fleets and or single player, or bonus to build the base faster or earn some king of provvision).
[1] actually playing a eSTR require a few minutes (about 5) and you earn 960 dil, marks (you can turn in dilithium) and items... much more than any pvp content.

Playing STO spamming FAW is like playing chess using always the computer's suggested moves

Theres nothing in the game anymore Pandas tend to take a break from STO, but this time the game is so bad and with SC coming out soon i doubt many will return.
The latest PvP promise to go unfulfilled was the straw that broke the camel's back. Most of the people who desire serious PvP are gone or on the way out.
Those who remain or refuse to see the writing on the wall are either optimistically deluded or so invested that they won't be able to walk away until the servers are shut down.
Either way, the days of finding a dozen premade teams looking for a game are gone. Sure, newer players who don't know any better will step up to fill the gaps, but few will stick around for long. Eventually they'll also realize that it's just a futile exercise built on a foundation of frustration, and they'll leave too.
There will always remain a few. Some will remain positive and try (unsuccessfully) to rally others to the PvP cause. Some will remain bitter and annoyed, placing blame but never taking the appropriate accountability that they did this to themselves.
It's what a game looks like when it's all flash in the pan, but no end-game substance. It's the beginning of the steady decline to a stagnant death.
pvp is in such a bad place now... anymore i only get sad when i play. im not really interested in looking for some mechanic to exploit, hoping to counter some other broken mechanic/cheese. pvp pretty much died for me when lor launched. thats when i lost any remaining hope, and any scrap of respect for cryptic.
On Saturday night our fleet (The Galactic Horde) normally does an inner fleet fun pvp for all fleet members...while we were waiting for members to finish there mirror runs 5 of us qued into Arena.
We came across a well known premade group in there as well...We were like oh s**t its so and so fleet. We engaged, we fought, it was an epic battle and we won. This suprised us as 2 members on our team are only just getting into pvp. Plesantries were exchanged at end of match and every1 went on there way.
Not all ppl who pvp use the OPVP or Tyler Durden channels but there are ppl out there.
On a second note with all these players/fleets on about quitting to other games etc....I wonder if this could be the kind of second coming/chance for pvp in STO. Pppl may wander back into the ques and not be insta vaped or ganked by a team and actually last more than a few seconds. Just a thought

Only if everyone that replaces the vets that left start using boarding party. There will always be a hierarchy and many people that play this game do not have the mentality to do what it takes to be "good". Most of the players in the game that hate PvP because they hate their odds because they have to build their ship a certain way, that will not change. The day aceton beam BP cruisers are the norm then the game truly has sunk. You need to be an uber damage dealer, or a super tank or a sci that disrupts both to be good screaming for useless builds to be useful is only going to get you laughed at.
Hey I Used to be Captain Data, well I guess I still am in game but the account link really screwed everything up
If that were to become the case then the lone good Scimitar or Bug or (insert ship here) pilot would be king like the 1 eyed man in the land of the blind.
Finding a premade or pugmade takes a bit of luck and patience. All depends on who is online and available.

It would be SSDD in the end. Folks tend to focus on being pugstomped, but in the end - it's really about being Crypticstomped. Even in pulling out any teams from the queues, all the garbage that Cryptic has done would still be there...folks will still be insta vaped and instead of being ganked by a team, they'll suffer the more embarrassing realization that they were ganked by a random group of folks. In the end, without the teams there as a necessary distraction...PvP would just die out completely, when there's nobody left to blame but Cryptic.
Get rid of all consoles, regular or otherwise. Get rid of all Boffs and class abilities. Use white common gear only, preferably the default that comes on a ship. PvP that way. I find it more fun when you havegroups setup like this fighting eeach other. No cheese, no OP abilities, just flying and tactics.
NERF CANNONS - THEY NEED A 50% NERF
CRUISERS NEED A 206% HULL BUFF

How many fleets are actually competing at what some fleets consider a competitive level?
Is it a case that perhaps they need to split up teams - recruit - groom - and grow the number of fleets/teams...?
edit: And why is this nub VD posting in a thread like this? Heh, cause even though I don't play that way - at that level - I want PvP to grow in the game, and have always felt that for PvP to grow it needs to be healthy at the various tiers. There needs to be a healthy competitive level of play just as much as a healthy casual level of play.
A lot of us pandas have completely lost interest in sto, we have had enough of empty promises from "Craptic" . Sto has no pvp endgame, they just keep adding more and more grind, more powercreep, more bugs etc. I wouldnt be surprised if pwe was a sister company of EA, its all about the money..... TRIBBLE the players.

Let me ask this...
What would happen if two (groups of) ships, that are equally setup and both sides agree to only use certain abilities and skills, fighting each other in PvP?
The challenge is likely to come back is there are self-enforced game play rules set - this could compensate for the power creep. Skill would be necessary to defeat the opponent.

Now it's just about spiking as high as possible at the right time, or BFAW all over the place, placating every 2 seconds,...
I doubt that anything but a MAJOR overhaul of ALL systems can help make PVP fun again.
just my 2 cents...

Didn't say any thing about skill, I said there's nothing to play for.
I'd say skill is winning every tournament we've entered last year and a half:
Nbs1
Nbs2
Beat the Nb3s champs in match of their request as we were banned from the tourney.
Nbs4
IPvP 1st and 2nd
1st darkfrontiers (pugged)
Definition ok? :P
no bs 1 hobo should have one this ! but the semi final and the final got reported to the next week and our ppl was not avalible , so we default lost !

According to MT, "there is no skill left in achieving things."
If that's true, what is the point then to list achievements?
If it was skill that lead to these achievements, what exactly has changed from then to now?
Just asking, because me is getting confused...
On the forums!
:P
Because there is no competition left... Hence ur own fleet mates thread lolol
There was back then, still confused?
But we are back.
It is irritating as f*ck that Pandas decided to leave the game when IC came back.
