Don't Extend the Stupid Event... Reduce the Requirements to Complete

plb1982plb1982 Member Posts: 0 Arc User
I don't know if it's pure coincidence or not, but problems have really intensified during the ME... which is not all that fun an event anyway.

I know you said you were going to extend it, but really... why extend the grind and the problems. Just drop the requirements from 14 trans-whatevers to 10 or something. That would be awesome.

It's completely different; One way requires them to keep the ME in progress, and requires me to spend more time playing it; the other lets it die and I can get back to the regular game, which is more fun anyway. (And yes, I realize it's optional and I could skip it, but I would like to get the rewards... I just didn't want this to drag out another week)

Actually, if the schedule is as tight as i suspect, this would be a good way to go.

I'm really not enjoying the new Mirror Invasion, and I am only playing it once per day, on one character. I can't imagine how people are playing this thing over and over each day.

I'm only doing the event with two characters and I already loathe it. The prospect of doing it 8 more times is almost too much to cope with; it's not fun anymore.

The MI mission is not that great. I have two toons, but I only use my primary toon to play these PvE missions to collect marks and loot to trade in for other loot. Don't have enough time to devote to playing both toons all the time...

im doing it with 10 just because we need the dill badly in out fleet.

I know people say they have stockpiles of unrfinded dil but I do not. long ago to increase dil production I made alts and just grind out the 8 k per day with them. with 10 toons you can pump out 80 k refine ore in just a day so I didn't really have time for stockpiling ore.

as it stands now I only have to do this damn mission 20 more times then im done with it . and go back to just playing my 3 main toons and let the other rest until I need to recall them into action .

I'll be glad when this event is over too. I'm doing it on 6 toons, but for the Dilithium. That is the only reason that I'm doing it on 6 toons.

A slave to the grind. I have thus far refused to even make a third toon, though I am considering it. I just do not want to play a romulan.

I'm in the same boat....I have 11. Do the math and that is about 3 hours a day. Don't get me wrong, I hate the grind but what is worse is trying to keep track of which toon can run it and which can't. This problem happened in the middle of grinding tonight. So now the timing is all messed up.

    Hint...hint...timers would help a bit...hint....hint....

yup and without the timers if one run goes faster than expected for some reason or you take a bio break at a different time you can end up doing a run too soon and have to repeat it . timers are needed on the thing for sure.

I do my runs in the morning just after the kids go out the door for school. could work the 20 hour clock and tried it but then I ran into issue like I said above. so for me . morning . less lag, no interruptions here at home and in 3 hours im done and can do what ever else needs to be done.

No its not fun, and it sure isn't how I want to spend my play time, but I do what I gotta do .

I am doing this mission on 14 toons a day and it sucks. After the first day I was sick of it. If this event comes around again I will not be doing it, it is just a waste of my time. I can earn more Dil just doing Dyson ground every day, in a week I can have several toons with over 150k unrefined. Then for fleet marks, Defera ground hards are far more efficient. As it stands right now, I dread signing in because I am only at the halfway point of being done with this event.

so those complaining about the grind? what'd you do if this event wasn't running?

i'd be doing different missions on different characters. i have a ground character, a antiborg character, a anti voth character, a PVP character, an a universal character (not to mention my character that cant decide what he's going to do.) with all all that, each character gets to do a different thing. yes, its a grind, but its a different grind. i keep it mixed up. i never do the same missions more then once a day, and in some cases like my ground character, i have alot of choices. i can do ground STFs, i can do dyson battlezone, what ever. i have many options for getting my daily dill. some characters like my science/antivoth character (which will also be my anti undine) dont have much in the realm of diversity, but i usually play with doing the same missions differently, and/or with different ships. my universal character ends up doing mostly STFs, but from time to time he's fun to take into dyson. a tactical isnt as much fun there as an engineer with mines, buuuut the style change makes me have to think about things.

i like the effort put into this event, i really do. science for the first time in a very long time feels like the most useful class. and no buff was given to science! its brilliant! you take what's already there and give it a job. just like myself and many others have been telling cryptic. give us science people something we can feel special at doing. escorts got the DPS, cruisers got the tank (still helpful guys, especially in a fail squad.) but what do science have? this mission, and i hope more like it that are better.

unfortunately you just have to do this mission WAAAY to many times. 14 times per character? so they wanted exactly 2 weeks for people to be stuck grinding the same exact mission? this wasnt fun with Crystaline, and it isnt great here. i generally dont do CE anymore simply because i've done it so many times on different characters that it's lost any appeal. this mission is the same, and if it was still around after the event, i wouldnt queue for it.

as things stand i'm doing this on 5 of my 6 characters. 3 of them i play with my friend in the evenings with her 3 characters. my other 2 characters i play in the morning. since i play them at the same time each day, the timer isnt that crucial. but for future events this really is a must.

Short answer: whatever the Hell I wanted to do in game, instead of what the game is force-feeding me.

It isn't the grind that bugs me. I only play it once per day. The mission itself is boring. The only time it isn't is when you (counter-intuitively) have a BAD team. If your team is good, you end up floating around doing nothing for 4-5 minutes.

They need to just bring on the dreadnaught once twenty portals get closed.

That is a good point. I can enjoy the event, but I have set my mind to do other things in the game. So I end up not liking what I am doing, the ME, because I want to do other things and when I am doing the things I like, I am not enjoying them, because I am worried not using the event for the rewards.

Devs be careful with time locked content. There are players that don't have to be spoonfed, that go their own path, that can enjoy the content as it is.

Meh. It's no worse or better than the last MU mission. It still basically boils down to killing everything as fast as possible, only this time you need to close rifts instead of battering things with DPS - though that still works too.

Event itself is fine too, nothing forces you to participate. If you'd rather stick with something else do so and you'll only lose out on the doff (which will no doubt make another appearance in the future anyway) and unrefined Dil, the same stuff most other endgame content pays out anyway.

No one is forcing you to do it everyday. They gave us this opportunity, it's up to you if take part to it or not. From my side, tomorrow I'll be done and I have three toons. 150k dilithium isn't a bad number :)

Its no more tedious than any other STF, its the pugging that hurts your brain. People can't seem to grasp the concept of close rifts, earn marks.

Just don't close them too well, or you will be treated to 4-5 minutes of floating in space with nothing to do.

Yes, I only pug. The most entertaining Mirror missions have actually been with the bad teams!

I do it 5 times per day. 50K dilithium plus the 480 and I average around 45 so what every marks I do take, I just feed them into the 50 mark for 500 dil. By now I'm over 250 zen plus once I hit that 50k dil per char, that's going to be enough zen to buy me a b'rel refit for my Klingon engineering character.

Only reason I do all 5 of my lvl 50s. Otherwise I wouldn't bother.

I have yet to see any mention of extra time to complete this event they are already running the event for 21 days so even if you were unlucky enough to loose out both times the server was down you should be able to still get the required 14 with 5 days to spare.
there may be many players who have over 10 trans-whatevers already on one or more characters if they were lucky enough to miss the outages.
and I happen to think the event is great fun btw.
if they extend the event that's fine by me but if they don't then that's no problem either.
there have been times in the past when I would have liked to see an event extended for one reason or another but it never happened, we just have to roll with the punches.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
