TRIBBLE Maintenance and Release Notes - March 20, 2014

coldsnappedcoldsnapped Member Posts: 520 Cryptic Developer
We will be bringing down the Tribble server for maintenance to apply a new update: ST.40.20140316a.5

General:
  • Resolved an issue which was causing problems with patching to the server.
  • New ESD:
    • Players cannot shoot at each other in shooter mode.
      • Fixed for reals this time.
    • Mail consoles direct to mail contacts instead of banks.
    • Icons have been added to most of the vendors.
    • There are numerous art, environment, audio, and additional ambient NPCs added through the interior.
  • Dyson Sphere Undine Battlezone:
    • Resolved an issue where the final boss does not despawn if time is up.
    • The entry contact now properly allows the players into the zone.
    • Added the introduction cutscene for the battlezone.
      • Only characters who have never been to the battlezone will see this.
    • Resolved an issue with Klingon Point Delta not changing its region control.
    • Rewards will be given out to players if the zone is lost but at least one planet killer has been defeated.
    • Undine supporting the planet killer will target and attack players who the planet killer has targeted if they do not already have an attack target.
    • Changed the reward text when you complete the Voth invasion to actually say you completed Voth invasion.
  • Extraneous "Maw Weak Points" now despawn at Yard Alpha when the maw doors begin to open in Viscous Cycle.

Known Issues:
  • The Dyson Sphere Undine Battlezone is still a work in progress.
  • The new Earth Space Dock is still a work in progress.
  • Viscous Cycle is still a work in progress.
  • The Reputations tab cannot be accessed.
  • The Borg and Undine episodes cannot be accessed.
  • The new queued event Undine Assault is still a work in progress.
  • The new Kit Revamp is still a work in progress.

How about the mouse direct ship control? Has that been fixed as well?

Also, just tried to patch, froze at 49%. Looks like there are still issues

    I also froze at 49%.

Force Verify continues to be an effective workaround for me.
You're right. The work here is very important.

Mine just paused briefly at 50%. I waited to be sure. Now it seems to be completing the patch process normally. At 83.3% as of this post. ;)

Updated to add mine in completely patched this time around. Just waiting for the shard to come back up.

For those still having issues with the launcher/patcher freezing, this is something to try that worked for me:
    1. Open Task Manager by Right-Clicking on the Taskbar and Selecting "Start Task Manager"
    2. Select the "Processes" tab
    3. Find "Star Trek Online.exe" in the list and right-click it
    4. Click on "Properties"
    5. Click on the "Compatibility" tab
    6. Click the checkbox for "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
    7. Select "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)" from the drop-down menu
    8. Click "OK" and then terminate the patcher.
    9. Try launching the patcher again. This should prevent it from freezing again.

Note: I did this on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I have 8GB of RAM and noticed in the console (Ctrl C when the launcher is opened) that when it attempted to patch Tribble, it would throw an error trying to allocate memory. I feel this may be an issue with the patcher running 32-bit mode in a 64-bit OS and somehow having a problem with addressing that memory.

finally got it to work my firewall was not agreeing with the launcher and was stopping the connection i had to readd it to my safe list

so far first thing i have to say is when are going to be able to disable ships visuals again? or will i have to gimp my self so my ship can actually look like a starfleet vessel again?

The patcher freezes for me if I launch it the 'old way' but if I launch thru Arc it works just fine. However when I do get patched up & online it tells me that the server is unavailable.

I know it has not been mentioned yet, but with the previous seasons I can come to a conclusion that Season 9 will also have another Fleet Holding, can anyone, or the devs themselves confirm this... or is there going to be no holding this season????

    Just wondering!! :D

Running the launcher normally through Steam let me patch up to 49%, then locked up. Force verify didn't help, however after reading x3of9's post, I got the idea that it might be a permissions issue and ran the launcher as admin. It was able to patch fine after that.

I found a way to bypass the missing reputation tab, but it's a one-shot deal. If you skip (or complete) sphere of Influence and do the Circles within Circles introduction mission, the tutorial window opens up your reputation panel.

Be warned, you can only do this once per toon, but the UI for the Species 8472 Rep showed some nice store unlocks and gear items, even Mk 12 Modules for the new kits.

    Sadly I didn't get a screenshot.

    Woo! The patcher works! :D

Tacofangs: Please put glass or banisters or rocks or something (something that would block access but not "water flow" -- but NOT invisible walls because invisible walls SUCK) on the sides of the glass ramps with the waterfalls under them to avoid any unfortunate upskirt perversions. (Incidentally, there is an invisible wall under both ramps that prevents movement from south to north, but not from north to south.)

Devs: I have 23 costume slots, but I cannot "access" any slot beyond the 5th costume slot. I spent over half an hour creating a costume with the new kit pieces, modifying the costume in the 14th costume slot, but all that work was lost when I exited the tailor, despite the tailor taking my money.

When I try to wear any costume slot beyond the 5th slot from within the tailor, I am still wearing the previous costume I was wearing prior to entering the tailor. When I try to switch to any costume beyond the 5th on the "Change Outfit" interface from the right-click menu on my character portrait, nothing happens. I can only change to one of the first 5 slots (Default, Casual, "Fleet" (even though I'm not in a fleet on Tribble), and the next two additional slots).

Additionally, SOME -- but not all -- unlocked costumes (TMP, Captain's sweater, for instance) are missing, while other unlocked uniforms (Section 31, Bajoran, Seven of Nine, TOS/TOS medical) are unlocked. This seems to be a condition present on characters copied from Holodeck -- after they are copied, they seem to lose access to unlocked costumes.

Edit: The reflection maps on the STO-style combadges seem to be missing on ESD. The badge is dull metal in well-lit areas and black in less-well-lit areas. This seems to be an environmental issue, because the reflection maps are present both on the bridge and at Starfleet Academy.

Tribble doesn't know about your unlocks

Tribble doesn't know about your unlocks

Makes it kind of hard to test kits with costumes, then, huh? :(

But that's not always the case. I do have access to some unlocked costumes (see my edited message above), but not all, so it's not consistant on what unlocks it knows about.

Tribble just needs to honor all unlocks and be done with it, rather than this half-acknowledging mode it's in.

    Well here are the Passives.

    Mental Conditioning

+20 Psionic Damage Bonus Resistance Rating
    +15 Control Resistance Rating

    T2

    Tactical Precision

to self: +3 Accuracy for 15 seconds when a Tactical Bridge Officer Ability is used, can stack for 5 time

    Crucial Component Redistribution

+20 Antiproton Damage Bonus Resistance Rating
    +15 Control Resistance Rating

    T3

    Empathic Adaptation

When suffering damage, 20% chance to reduce damage to Shields by 5% for 15 seconds, change is doubled when hit by Psionic damage

    Empathic Reverberation

When hit by energy attacks, 2.5% chance to reflect 50% damage back to the attacker
When hit by Psionic attacks, 5% chance to reflect 50% damage back to the attacker

    T4

    Nanoprobe Field Generator

When suffering damage, 10% chance to reduce damage to Shields by 5% for 15 seconds, chance is doubled when hit by Antiproton damage

    Nanoprobe Feedback

When hit by Direct energy attacks, 5% chance to reflect 100% damage back to the attacker

    T5

    Bio-Molecular Shield Generator

Creates a level 50 Undine Rep Shield Generator for 30 seconds.
The Following Applies to Allies in a 2.5 Km radius

    12.7 Shield Regeneration/second
Reduces Damage to Shields by 22&

Ouch, that could possibly hurt AP builds, but the accuracy bonus/feedback bonus might be more attractive to most.

Still, going the AP route will definitely counter a lot of the solid AP builds currently. Not sure if I like this direct attack on a damage type, we dont have any other rep passives that focus on just one like this.

I was thinking about this. This almost seems like prep work for facing Iconians since they use AntiP. Just saying...

Or.. you know... Undine. Since it's a Season about Undine. And a Reputation about Undine.
    And Undine are Using AP.

I will confirm it. There will be an item that you need to grind to put on your ship when you get caught in the undine grav well/fluid. When you gather 100,000 vials of fluid then it will in turn give you an Undine Fleet Mark. Which each xp project will require 1 million Undine Fleet Marks. Once you have done this to get to Tier 3 Undine Mystery Pod holding in 3 weeks after the last project is completed it will hatch.

Sources say that when it hatches it will transform into an engine battery as your fleets grand prize but it will be up to each fleet to come up with ways to divide the single engine battery between fleet members. They were so excited about this when they said they are so excited about 2014 they just couldn't hold it in anymore on the excitement of hours upon hours of grinding for an engine battery.

I hope so, as I wouldn't like to think it's going to holodeck with that change.

I'm guessing it's also because a lot of end game NPC's also use antiproton weaponry or some form of it, like the Voth, Undine and even the Iconian ships that have appeared.
