for highturn cruisers and raiders/escorts/destroyers which can run AtoB, cannons can still be very effective.
I have been workingon this lately and the results are with much satisfaction.
To reveal a bit: It concerns locator cannon consoles, DHC's, experimental proton cannon, beam overload, scatter volley

I am asking if it is possible to build a vaper WITHOUT using beam overload and thus not needing the BO doff. I have, or at least i think i have seen/been vaped by someone not using BO...
How was that done? was something used with the cannons?

They are few Torp Vaper builds I believe using Nukara sets and certain torps that I am not sure of. Those builds are just as, as the community puts "questionable" since they are using something to make it possible. In the community only the cannon/HYT torpedo builds are the only "fair" builds everything else is "noob fail"

Doesn't the combo of HY/BO/CRF/TB require skill though...that some of the other things...well, don't.
Drop the TB too early and you're telegraphing, the target's out of there. Drop it too late, and it doesn't matter for the to-hit rolls.
Do the HY too soon, it hits shields before the BO/CRF land. Do it too late, and they've already closed the gap that was created.
Running Turrets, you run the risk of proc heals ruining everything else you're trying to do.
Etc, etc, etc...
edit: Kind of like a bunch of the TDF'varo folks - they telegraph that console, not realizing just how loud it is. Or some of the EBC Torp guys - they torp from so far away, they don't realize that gives folks plenty of time to hit AtS/BFI/etc...they're telegraphing their torps.
I was running that HY/BO/CRF/TB combo when I was actively playing a few months back. I found it was getting increasingly difficult to ram that HY torp salvo in at the right time due to Cryptic making it easier and easier to regen your shields passively, as well as raising resistances and whatnot. Everything else, I was able to time relatively effectively. Decloak, hit target with TB and maybe VM if you're carrying it (a little engine or aux disabling never hurts), fire HY salvo, and then fire BO2/BO3. The game tends to lag on me, so firing off those torps is hard to time properly, as well as firing the BO.
Oh, and there's always the consideration that the person might activate something that nullifies your tractor beam. At that point, you'd be lucky to hit them with the BO.
It used to be easier, I swear. I was a beast back before LoR, especially. Then Cryptic started ****ing with all the stuff that made the tactic work, and now it's much harder to really pull that off on anyone with a modicum of skill and awareness. I have to work with others to take people down now, while still being vulnerable in my battlecloaking BoP.
I'm looking forward to coming back in time for that flanking bonus and hull increase. Should be interesting.
I would like to know who believes that the age of a Classic Cannon/Bo Escort is at an end, meaning it is no longer the premiere damage dealer and no longer King in PvP.
As i said im relatively new to this game (aprox 1 year) and when i started escorts were still King its only recently that ive noticed this and well due to RL i dont play 24/7.

Its funny I seem to remember one of the earlier devs at one point... said flat out scatter volley needed an arc because they didn't want the game to be filled with turret disco balls. I'm paraphrasing only slighly I can't remember which one said it now but they quoted the last starfighter doing it. lmao

TBH, I'd buy that for a dollar if they put it in. I'd gladly load up one of each energy type for a turret and CSV the days away, giggling the whole time.
Also, that dev didn't know what they were talking about. They should be EMBRACING that movie, The Last Starfighter, not using it as an excuse to not having something in their game.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.

Good point. We have a weak version of that in stuff like the lotus attacks from the Vet ships.
I like one of the comments on that video, basically says 'Death Blossom, the original 'I win' button'. Or something like that.
