Official feedback thread for the new queued event - Undine Assault

coldsnappedcoldsnapped Member Posts: 520 Cryptic Developer
Please use this thread to post bugs and feedback for the new queued event - Undine Assault on Tribble.

The Undine Assault is still a work in progress and currently, the end boss fight is a placeholoder and final rewards are not in place.

Undine Assault Queued Event:
  • Mixed faction queued mission for level 50 Captains.
  • This queue takes 15-20 minutes and comes in both Normal and Elite Versions.
  • The Undine are attacking!
    • Planets from the Alpha, Beta and Gamma quadrants are under attack and you’ve been called on to defend them.
    • Queuing up for this mission will send the player to one of four locations: Gornar, Andor, Cardassia or Ferenginar. There you will face the Undine. They have implanted a fully grown planet killer in extreme orbit.
    • The player with the aid of local forces will need to push through waves of Undine ships in order to close the fluidic rifts that are reinforcing the Planet Killers defenses. Once the defenses have been weakened, players can either take on the Planet Killer by themselves or defeat the rest of the defenses to gain the aid of the local forces in confronting the Planet Killer.
  • Tips:
    • Keep an eye on the command vessel as you will need this ship to expose the rift for you.
    • Communicate! There will be times when you will want one team member or multiple team members to change position.
    • The special UI element on your screen will tell you where your friendly forces are located and which locations your team has cleared.
  • Notes:
    • Currently, the boss fight of the mission is not implemented but what is there should still be challenging.
    • The rewards are also a placeholder.

Neither Gornar, Andor, Cardassia or Ferenginar are in the Gamma Quadrant?

True, but the Undine have had access through rifts to the alpha quadrant. The events of A Step Between Stars just gave them an easier avenue to get here (get to Dyson Sphere, use Sphere to get to Alpha quadrant).

No, I mean the blog says we're defending planet(s) in the Gamma Quadrant but lists Alpha and Beta Quadrant planets only...

Leaves me wondering why they get there.
They are habited in the delta quadrant, obviously need the sphere portal to start a bigger invasion on the alpha quadrant, there is no known connection between delta and gamma quadrant, and only the bajor an wormhole between alpha and gamma.

So I assume it was a typo and they meant the delta quadrant.
Also possible, if seen the entire cardassian/bajoran area falsely beeing described as "sectors of the gamma quadrant" for some reason (mostly connected to descriptions how to get the rare commodities, mostly called "gamma quadrant commodities there) so there might be a mistake^^
    Or it's just a typo.

After all, why should the undine attack the gamma quadrant? And also... Does the dominion look like it needs our help for defense?

Regardless... I *love* the Ferengi starbase! And its' great that you can spend Latinum for boosts to the Mauraders that help you on the Ferenginar variant.

I concur. Something to use our latinum for besides temporary use (2 hour) holo disguises for my ship and character. Although, an Undine holo for my ship during an Undine invasion could make for some potentially fun trolling/confusion/chaos *rubs hands together laughing evilly*

I do like this PVE event but the fludic space bubbles are too much imo.

Not just because they're unneed obstacle, but they also mess with performance pretty hard. I can run the game on Full graphics with no issues usually but this brought my framerate down to under 10 fps.

I'm inclined to agree with sirboulevard. The particle effects in this game are extremely detrimental to performance and should be used more conservatively.

Just did a third undine assault... two Gorn command vessels spent about 15 minutes doing a tour of the map, zipping off to fight undine in another lane or just sitting still for over 2 minutesm

Thank you for agreeing. But its more than just the performance detriment. They're serving as respawning grav wells and making it difficult for smaller ships like a Bird of Prey to do anything.

not a fan after playing the elite version for an hour and being forced into a tank role I really did not enjoy this one bit especially being completely immobilised by what ever the undine spammed at me, this fleet action in my opinion is not cruiser friendly and its the most frustrating experience being a tank and not being able to move and make use of my weapon arcs.

The Andor mission uses Armitages not Kumari's. So far, it's nice however I would like more coordination in lanes.

    Soooooo purty.

    http://i.imgur.com/i1MNCQD.jpg

I didn't have any performance issues but I did notice some confounding snares and slowdowns that didn't seem to apply any debuff icons that I could diagnose. I only ran it once on Normal. I shoulda tried it earlier in the day when more people were on Tribble.

I think this one's gonna be a fun one for my fleet.

Yep, nice work on the map and various Undine visual fx, devs.

Only been able to run it once, but I'm not encountering any performance issues, unlike Crystalline Cat./Starbase Fleet Defense which can get pretty choppy.

Edit: Ran it again, this time on Elite difficulty and it did get choppy at times during large fights. Undine respawn rate is pretty nasty.

Yeah, I'd prefer fewer ships but tougher ships. The number of targets onscreen gets a bit hectic!

Anyone able to list the differences between maps?

played it twice, first time I was at gonar I believe which has asteroids flying through the 3 lanes and you have to avoid them which is problematic being in a cruiser since there slow and they seem to do between 5-15% hull damage completely ignores shields.

as far as I can tell cardassia was fairly generic, escort a Hideki towing a orbital defence platform through the lanes, focus fire and shut down portals. however i was playing it on elite so i ended up focusing on not being wiped out :P

Ferenginar has a bunch of Ferengi starbases and Marauders running around, and you punch forward to let their command ships secure the three lanes. You can spend Latinum to get extra assets as well - does that happen on other variants (at work so can't test...)?

I didn't notice any Ferengi shuttles on my run but it might be worth adding them in?

Someone mentioned that Andoria had Armitages rather than Kumari's - perhaps have a mixture of "regular" Starfleet ships and Andorian designed Starfleet ships?

Yeah, that was crazy, they all launch 6 Peregrines each and the screen just gets cluttered with fighters.

    Hi
I was testing the new content and the Klingon Weapons platforms in the middle of the battlezone appear to be bugged, it kept insisting they're was one more weapons platform to activate but there was no sign of it, we activated 4 weapons platforms, all the visible ones,.
Love what i see so far, keep up the good work and i can't wait to see the new club 47 on ESD :)

Yeah, I had that too, we activated all 4, and it insisted only 3 were going.

Wrong thread. This is for the Undine Assault PvE queue event not the Dyson Sphere map.

Successfully ran the event [Ferenginar]. It worked but the final stage was a bit of a mess. It wasn't terribly clear what we were supposed to be fighting (spent my time duking it out with the dreadnaught that showed up just prior to closing the final portal). It also wasn't terribly clear how we were supposed to initiate portal closing (I thought until near the end that it was up to the NPC ships, like the Elachi assault) and part of that had to do with the location of the progress bar (it didn't seem to correspond to a player initiated action.)

Otherwise it was fun, visually interesting, and between the various possible factions and the use of GPL for support ships it should provide a good amount of replayability, assuming a few issues with Undine space combat get worked out (particularly how long the undine bioplasmic "gravity well" holds you, and the degree to which it does as well. Both seem quite excessive.)

I'm using a mid-higher range PC (2.7ghz six core processor, 8 gigs of ram, Nvidia GTX 460 card, normally max settings run just fine) and there's some pretty severe performance issues when undine space combat heats up (this was a more significant issue when fighting the planet killers in the space battlezone.)

got stuck to the space station on re-spawning. some fed space station it looked like.

    the space blobs are annoying.

mark reward not even remotely enough. (It's way too small... what i suggest 75 minimum and 95 - 130 for elite.... or even more than that.) (*million marks would be nice but afraid to ask...)

I think the mission has a lot of potential, but I was visually overwhelmed the entire missions due to all of the Undine effects spam. I can't even see my ship most of the time. The mission is a slideshow between the fluidic bubbles, the rifts, the map's background objects, and the never ending stream of dozens of Undine ships. On top of that we have several hundred allied fighters buzzing around and becoming warp core breaches every few seconds. I took a few screenshots to outline where I am coming from with the visual overload. Screenshots: (http://imgur.com/a/nTvwi)

I hope this bug report got through before the map changed made it just before map changed for Elite Undine assault.

Had odd 1 shots after combat was done had full health and shields and still in red alert.

Other players stuck in space stations after respwaning.
