Hostile Fleet Takeover of Federation Assassins

saravankulaysaravankulay Member Posts: 4 Arc User
The Federation Assassins have had a hostile takeover. Guy forced everyone out and threatred demoted and kick all desentors. He has live 30 toons between him and his friend. The Guy who started the fleet only had 1. The Devs have to implement some kind of safe guard against this.

Incountering someone... is that the opposite of counting someone out?

1: As already said, naming-and-shaming is a no go

2: What you are describing is only possible if the other fleet leaders havn't logged in in 14 days, so... And if there aren't other fleetleaders, then you pretty much asked for it.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

The Federation Assassins have had a hostile takeover by @*EDITED*. He forced everyone out and demoted all desentors. If you incounter this individual, please keep away.

Please edit the name, or this post will most likely be banned
Anyway, this has happened before, and it didn't end well.

Naming and shaming will not be tolerated in the forums. So change that quick.

At any rate, this is why as a fleet leader, or even as a regular memeber, you have to watch out who you put at what rank. If this detestable person was at a high enough rank to DO this, you have to ask yourself "Who put him there in the first place?" Even if it was an example of the leadership lapsing and him inheriting it, that still means that he was second in command.

Let this be a lesson to everyone. Be a good judge of character before you promote, and always ALWAYS have a provisional command structure. Never promote someone who can and will abuse the power, and always make sure that the leader is active, fair, and balanced.

I am all for leader dethroning when they have been away for a while, but 14 days. That to me is a tad on the short side. I spent that long in hospital when I last had an infection in my renal system. There was no internet access unless I was willing to put a minimum of £10 into the bedside monstrosity, and that was only browser access.

Didn't they say when they announced the feature that it was more like 30 or 60 days?

Unfortunally there is no way to "majority force" a person from a fleet leader position... Even IF you demote him, he can just log in the day after and cancel the demotion.

It's a "no-clear-win/loss-situation". Yea, a 2 week hospital visit is surely a bad thing that would allow others to remove you without being able to do something about it... But wheres the limit?

    a month? 3 months? 6 months?

    14 days is fine.

    Maybe maybe not...

But I had the unfortunate experience of having to remove one of my co-leaders from his position a month back (pr his own request).

    It's 14 days.

Well they could do it the way Blizzard does. If the GM hasn't logged on in a set amount of time, they have set it to 3 months it used to be just 1, then the dethrone option kicks in where a player of a high enough rank is given the option of taking over. This player has to have been active in the last 7 days. Once this happens there is no reversing it.

    Christ is that what happened?

All I knew is I am in the fleet and then out of the fleet and then invited back in...

Well, I guess I will just consider vacating the premises as far as that fleet is concerned. I thought it was just part of the name change...

But...if it was a hostile takeover...why would they still use the same fleet chat channel that was created?

    OH

I was invited into a sister fleet after I was kicked by him.

But why on Earth would he kick me? Not complaining too serioulsy mind you...but I am oblivious to most stuff and didn't notice any of the events leading up to it.

I did see someone had told him to eff off and go get drunk and die. But the rest was on TS and I generally turn that down low since heavy breathing turns me on and distracts me from the game:P

I was more irritated about being kicked because I was playing Dabo and it messed up my roll.

I don't know....it sucks, but at least we still have a fleet to call ours. Only thing that didn't translate over is the contributed creds.

Just to clear something up. 14 days is the time it takes to demote a fleet leader.
Said leader can only save themselves if they have SECOND toon at leader rank.
And the time it takes for a fleet leadership to become deemed inactive and the next in line offered to take over is 30 days (not 14 or 60)

I've been in the "usurper" position twice now.
It's not my fault if you feel trolled by my Disco ball... Sorry'boutit.

This here should be in a FAQ somewhere. Probably is, for that matter.

There's always so much misinformation in threads like this.

    {snip}

Congratulations on a timely edit. You just narrowly missed moderation and a warning.

Naming and shaming is not allowed on the official STO forums, just to confirm what others have said.

I hope all of the folks affected are able to find a new fleet to take them in. I know there are others here on the forums who can relate to hostile takeovers.

There are many fleets open to new members and you can find some of them in the fleet forum here: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/forumdisplay.php?f=79

Well hopefully the first thing the new fleet leader does is change the name of the fleet. It's terrible. Oh wait, was it a joke name?

There is another related Fed fleet they are inviting us into. So we aren't without alternatives.

Just wish the mechanics of passing leadership was more fool proof. I won't name the person here, but if I see him recruiting in chat....can I at least mock him?:) You know...a little elbow in the ribs, a chuckle, and a "So, hows that fleet you filched? Pilfered?"

But really, I think the remaining group will adapt and overcome.

This is why you look for a fleet that promises no drama...

I mean, look what happened to Stargate Union.

Sucks that this happened, but there are other options. Echelon Division is a decent PVP fleet, slow rank-up but stable leadership. Ausmonauts is another good, stable PVP fleet. Not sure about other high-tier fleets.

It is pretty stable. This is the only wet TRIBBLE that has happened since I've been a part. People are amiable, work together...

Just one guy who saw his name up top "so and so will become fleet leader if so and so doesn't log in within 14 days" and dropped all pretenses of being a member of a group that is out for each other and became a selfishly driven individual who looked at it as an opportunity to have a personal fleet.

I doubt anything can be done tbh to remedy this other than swallowing the bitter pill and moving on.

The folks who ran the Fed TRIBBLE's are decent folks from what my interactions have led me to believe. No bickering really...no drama...just this dude.

My domain ends here in the forums.

Theoretically, you could be reported for doing it in chat and if it were a TOS violation you could take some heat. You might get a temporary chat ban.

Nothing stopping you from sending tells to unwary prospects, AFAIK...

lol I likely wouldn't, just because it would make me feel like I lowered myself in some way....though...being a man that just used the words "wet TRIBBLE" in a sentence...it probably wouldn't be much of a drop.

    Thanks for the feedback;)

Figure, with an attitude as entertaining as yours, you'll find a decent berth soon enough.
