I've done this a lot, set part of a mission in the interior of what is supposed to be the player's ship. I've never had any complaints.

I think as long as you don't use a bridge you'd be fine.

For Fed side we have a damaged engineering map, A sick bay on the ESD Map, A Shuttle bay and the teleporter room prop. The biggest challenge I see is that building ship interiors takes time and you only get a few weeks to do a challenge. Then again some Trek episodes happened almost entirely in sickbay...

I like the idea of a bottle show. In fact, I think mine would count as that too, with a little adjustment, so that's promising!

Onlyslightlybent's idea actually sounds good to me. A lot of my own stories about my character's ship are just about life on board a ship full of aliens out in space somewhere, and the contingencies resulting from that. Anything from how many different dietary requirements you can have in a crew before the chef throws a wobbly, to - well, points north. Those people - mutants/fugitives/newly discovered entities - that a plot sometimes throws out and then doesn't know what to do with, except hastily kill them off... I tend to have her adopt them, which can be a good or a bad thing!

Another thing that might work, if it was in the terms of the challenge: allow it to be either your character's own ship or a single other ship that you go on board for whatever reason at the start of the mission, and are then stuck on. That would avoid the problem of not knowing what kind of ship it is. That said, I've played a lot of Foundry missions that are set on board "my" ship, and enjoyed them - it does work, if you avoid anything too glaring like the bridge or an NPC senior officer.

PS: There are some other Starfleet ship maps besides what Lincolninspace mentioned. "Black Boxes", for instance, makes good use of a general-purpose map with a set of corridors, turbolifts and an open area with a group of seats (where the mission has a group of cadets who are with your ship on their first trying-out mission and are getting increasingly terrified). "Black Boxes" is far from a bottle show but makes a lot of good use of scenes set on board the player's own ship, so worth a look for ideas. So are Kirkfat's "Relics" and somebody else's "Cloaked Loyalties" (only one scene on board player's own ship, but plenty on another Starfleet ship).

I vote Mirror Dominion. Let's see some people whom we've never seen in the MU before.

Apparently the Romulan empire is called the Romulan Republic in the MU. So you could have the player take on the role of a Tal Shiar badass.

Seems like the mirror Dominion should behave the same, since the changes between our universe and the alternate universe all go back to some divergence point in the 20th Century on Earth.

Point Drogyn1701 was making, I think, is that (as originally written, at least) the only difference between the Prime Universe and the Mirror Universe is that in the Mirror Universe, when the Vulcans put in their appearance, "we" shot them. Everything else stems from that, and before that, they were the same universe. So the Founders would have started out the same as they ever were.

But they'd have met a very different Bajor and Cardassia when they got that far - according to the Memory Alpha wiki, when the Terran Empire finally started to disarm, the Klingons joined forces with the Cardassians to defeat them while they had the chance, then went on to overrun Bajor and the Bajorans formed some kind of collaboration government under them. So what might have become of the Dominion invasion force under THAT scenario, I don't know...

Exactly, all the differences are traced back to Earth. But on DS9 the Mirror Bajorans and the Alliance didn't seem to know about the wormhole until people from our side appeared, after which I assume they discovered it, but in any case it would have delayed first contact with the Dominion. So who knows how it would all go down, whether the Dominion first met the Alliance or whether they first met the reformed Terran government. Would be interesting to explore.

Maybe the Dominions are the one who restored the Terran Empire back to its strength? ;)

and now I wonder about the Mirror Sisko. The Prime-universe Benjamin Sisko had his life subtly manipulated by the Prophets to become the Sisko. What happened with the Mirror version?

Personally, I'd love to see some sort of mission about the war with the Klingons. We've been dealing a lot with the "allies by necessity" stuff in the Dyson sphere, so it feels like the war has been put on the back burner. Unless there was some secret peace alliance, shouldn't they still be fighting somewhere?

Or perhaps something to do with Earth? Earth doesn't come up much in ST, but when it does, they are usually some interesting stories like Paradise Lost in DS9 and the Battle of Sector 001 in First Contact.

So we just had the First Cryptic Mission that had the Words "To Be Continued..." so how about a Foundry Challenge where we come up with our own "Continuation" of the story.

I would rather see a Cryptic/Player collaboration where the entire Foundry community comes together for The Rising Phoenix. Not a competition.

i would really like to see a Cryptic/Player Callaboration, but I was thinking of see how other people see how this story will unfold.

My idea is to "remaster" one of the generic exploration cluster missions and make it epic.
    NJ9oXSO.png
"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them."

The only downside I see is it requires a lot of building. My money is on exploration. I have a story alreay stuck in my head for it.
