Star Trek Online : New Fun Starship

upper4dscoutupper4dscout Member Posts: 220 Arc User
Low Cost Fun Starship would come in handy.

She is not well armed but she is fast.

U.S.S. Dauntless NX-01A

Species 116 Deception but a variation on a theme could work well here on

Star Trek Online. It would have a lower cost than a Battle Cruiser.

I think Lt. Commander Tuvok took extensive sensor readings while on board the bridge and then

gave them to Star Fleet Intelligence.

I think the New Starfleet Version will be called U.S.S. Zephyr.

Does that sound about right?

first, the ship is tiny, second, I'm not even sure how it'd be introduced to starfleet corps of engineers for this kind of build.

    maybe something like this.

"hey guys!, we decided to have this outdated ship which was built by an angry alien speicies in the delta quadrant instead of allowing you guys to make a better more efficient ship out of Starfleet's own bright minds!!"

...which would be the Vesta: Starfleet's ship designed specifically for slipstream...which is much bigger and actually works.:D

We have a Galaxy Class Starship with a third warp nacelle and a spinal lance, we have an Ambassador Class that is Fleet geared, we have the Romulans flying a 22nd century Bird of Prey. We have people flying Dominion, Cardassian, Ferengi, Elachi and Tholian vessels. I see no reason why we couldn't have the Dauntless.

The difference is that all those ships were actually built to be more than...a deathtrap for its crew. The Dauntless was at best, if we ignore the deathtrap part, a courier. And she was a literally a unique ship, unlike the other ones.
And Starfleet would have to clog their shipyards to actually build this thing as opposed to...using captured ships built by someone else in case of the lockbox ships.
And even ignoring those conditions going onto a ship and taking a few snapshots of parts where we can't even be sure what they were because their actual appearance was concealed is not enough to rebuild it from scratch. It's like saying that because I have a few pictures of the inside of a submarine I can suddenly build one.
Snapshots and even general schematics are not even remotely the same thing as construction plans, otherwise pretty much every nation on this planet would have stealth bombers because I bet most of them have seen a few general schematics of them.;)

Is it just me or does the Dauntless look a heck of a lot like the Fleet Star Cruiser?

I'm guessing the U.S.S. Zephyr will have a crew of about 200.

They got the navigational array correct.

The designers went a little overkill on the impulse drive.

This starship can turn on a dime!

I see plenty of room for the hanger bay. Put the Delta Flyer in there?

    A fun ship? My suggestion:

    Risian Solar-Sail Science Ship.

Comes with a special Risian Set engine that deploys Solar Sails if the ship's engines are ever disabled/go below 15 power. Can be also be used on the Risian Corvette.

The internals of the Dauntless don't need to match, but the externals. Surely Starfleet could have seen potential in its design. No doubt Voyager took some pretty detailed scans of the ship (they were going to jump ship, it makes sense to assume they did a fairly thorough investigation before hand, even if they did miss something big in it's construction).

I did always wonder, if that dude was the last of his kind, and the ship was built to trap Voyager, who built the Dauntless? Seems unlikely that a sole survivor of a species had the time, and resources to construct an entire ship.

I've said this before, but the Dauntless (skin) would be perfect if merged with the Star Cruiser. They could/should do that all whilst retrofitting the Star Cruiser. Would be a win-win.

I see no reason for this ship to be ingame as others have already stated.
If it turns in a dime then in this game it mist end up as a tac ship.

Hmmm.......i guess you missed the Episode: Hope & Fear

At the end Arturus said about 10,000 of his people fled the star system and survived.

It's hard to catch a starship that has Quantum Slipstream Drive installed.

If Species 8472 had successfully destroyed the Borg then his people would

have been spared. Then old Wheel and Deal Captain Janeway arrived on the scene

and saved the Borg! She can't see past the bow of her own ship!

Some of us in the Delta Quadrant had a vested interest in the war between the

    Borg and 8472.

Isn't the only unique thing about the "Dauntless" rendered obsolete by the Vesta and Odyssey classes which both have quantum slipstream drives without the problems that Voyager encountered with their experimental QSD? (and Voyagers QSD itself was based on the "Dauntless" drive.

So yeah there would be no reason for Starfleet to use this ship when it is obsolete compared to ships already in the fleet.

    Outdated?

Nope. It was in service with Starfleet in the 26th Century. So some 100 years into the future.

That aside, it has been mentioned as a possibility during the next Expansion.

The U.S.S. Voyager hull was just fine. Paramount didn't want Janeway to return to Earth.

They wanted 7 years. Also, Q could have snapped his fingers and brought them home.

Janeway requested just that. Q declined.

Well yeah the will they get home plot thing was stupid when the audience pretty much knew that no they wouldn't because there needed to be another episode next week.

Though the in canon explanation for the failure or short term use of Voyagers Quantum slipstream drive was the "benamite" crystals that powered the drive decayed, Well that and the whole it made them crash thing, both problems were apparently rectified with the Vesta/Odyssey .

My personal favorite part of the episode was Q asking what was Neelix's trick to blackmailing Janeway as he thought it was the only possible reason that he was allowed to stay on the ship.
