Unlike EC you cannot give a player dilithium, the only exception to this is if the player has created a foundry mission, you can then play the mission and leave them a tip of 25, 50, or 100 dilithium.
If you use the dilithium exchange you can move the dilithium between your own characters on the same account. Thats the only way.
ah it sucks...i can easily make about 8-10 thousand dilithium in an hour but i can't make any decent amount of ec and the farming foundry missions like admiral bobo give worthless trash at best and from these trash only impulse engines, deflectors, shields and warp cores can be sold for a decent amount of ec as well the occasional rare loot all the other things aren't even worth bothering with. so long story short i want to buy the plasmonic leech which is about 20 mil ec and i have no way making that kind of money
Grind your Dilithium, trade it for Zen, use the Zen to buy Master Keys, sell the Master Keys for 1.8 million EC on the Exchange.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

Assuming the ratio of Dil:Zen is 135:1
a 10 pack of keys will cost you 1125 Zen (aka 151,875 Dil)
which will get you 18M EC on the Exchange.
So 1 Dil is worth ~119 EC (if I didn't TRIBBLE up the math. )
If you average 9k Dil an hour, a set of keys will cost you 16.9 hrs of your time.
Zen to Dollars is 1:1 so you are working 16.9hrs for $11.25, or $0.66 per hour.
Sounds like 3rd world pay rates to me!
I'd say try to grab a bit more time at work (or more $ from your parents) and just buy some Zen to buy keys. Much more time efficient.
People are going to get Dilithium whether they use it for C-Store Keys or something else, such as Fleet projects - because at end-game virtually everything you do pays you in Diltihium: STFs, Dailies, etc. As such there is no real equivalent to salary-per-hour. Dilithium is simply a currency you get for playing the game, not working a job within the game.
I average around 5,000 Zen per month and currently have over 65,000 Zen on my account. I have not purchased any of it - and earned it all playing the same couple of hours each day that I was playing before the game went FTP and Dilithium was added to the system. I am not working for money. I am simply playing the same game I have always been playing. I am sure most people feel the same way.

Lock box keys sell like hot cakes if you price them right, I wanted a non-combat pet so I put a Lock box key on the exchange for 1.6 million EC and no word of a lie I exited the Exchange and was just starting to type in the chat box that I had posted a Lock box key for 1.6 mill when I received a message that someone had already brought it
With the money I brought two pets (a lion cub and a dinosaur) another expensive item that I forget what it was and I still have 600'000 ec's left which I'm going to use to buy a mirror universe ship -I'm well chuffed
Keys ,as mentioned, and some rare and very rare Doffs can go for quite a bit too.
Don't have to be special, necessarily, they just have to be the right type of Doff.
And if you have some lobi laying around, it may be worth your while to see what you can buy in the market and compare that with what the prices for said items are.

How are you making 8-10 thousand dilithium per hour? I am fairly new to the game and have only just start to focus on dilithium mining.
I used to be able to make a decent amount of EC before hitting Rear Admiral rank. It seems after attaining that rank the dropped equipment I have been getting are not in demand on the Exchange meaning I can simply sell them to NPCs at 50% of the value and earn just as much or many times more than listing them on the exchange. Prior to hitting Rear Admiral I had 15 - 20 items constantly listed on the Exchange and they sell at a decent pace 'cause I was not asking an arm and a leg for 'em. Now at best I only have maybe 5 thing listed on the Exchange since the "TRIBBLE" I had was selling on the Exchange for less than 50% of the value.
It does help that I no longer get any leveled equipment rewards for Borg attacks, I simply get Omega Marks. Going from 0 EC to around 7 million EC was fairly quick for me but going from 7 million EC to 9 million EC has been a grind.

Easiest way right now is the Dyson Sphere Battlezone. One run can easily cap out your daily 8k in around 30-40 minutes. You can do as many runs as you like all day long if you want, so you can stockpile dil really fast there. You do get raw dil there, but you can also convert any Dyson marks and Voth Implants into dil. 50 marks = 500 dil, and 3 Implants = 1k dil. On average I get 250-300 marks and 5 Implants per run. Combine that with the daily missions there and you just drown in all the dil you make.
I often joke about calling the BZ "Purple Rain Zone" because it just throws purple rock (dil) at you. Need to be level 50 to go in there though.
As an example, doing an ESTF can take as little as 5 minutes if you are on a moderately good team. That pays out 960 Dilithium plus it drops anywhere between 1 and 11 Neural Processors. 5 NPs can be traded for 1,000 Dilithium. So it is possible to earn nearly 3,000 Dilithium from a single ESTF run. Do five or six of those in an hour and it is not difficult to see Dilithium stacking up.
Depending on the quality of your Doffs, simply picking the 20 Doff Missions per day can net you 1,000+ - and if you are a Klingon the amount of Contraband and other rewards you can get from the Doff Mission can run into several thousand.
A lot of people have Dilithium Mining Claims from Lockboxes. It is possible to earn up to 5,000 Dilithium simply doing one run - taking around 10ish minutes.

Not to mention omega marks from those STf can also be turned in for silithium. 50 for 500 iirc.
CEE drops a little chunk of dilithium as well.
There are a little slew of single missions in Eta Eridani that, when run together, dont take long and award nice dilithium along with other nice perks.
The only question is what is "ESTF"? I am fairly new to the game and I am also a "lone wolf" meaning I am not part of a fleet and I think I prefer it that way for the moment even if it means I cannot efficiently farm dilithium.
My Doffs are mostly common, have some uncommon and I think I have a rare one (+20 bonus). I only have 86 Doffs. One had the unfortunate mishap of dying on a low casualty mission with probably less than 5% disaster. Looking to save up some dilithium to be converted to Zen to increase it to 200.
Not a huge fan of spending real money on keys to unlock Lockboxes for random loot. However, I will definitely drop real cash to get an additional 4 captain slots when I am done with the main story for all three factions. Maybe I'll buy some keys with real cash when there is a sale. Can't be a total freeloader. The developer needs to earn real money somehow to maintain the game and create new content as well.

Basically, dilithium isn't difficult.

Thanks, I have already started earning Omega Marks. I haven't really done any research on them yet. Been earning them for "fun" by trying out different MMO missions. However, as far as I know only dilithium can be converted to Zen correct? Can silithium be somehow converted to Zen?
Can't go to Eta Eridani yet. I need diplomatic immunity I believe. Since I am not part of a fleet (I am a lone wolf) I need to level up my diplomatic commendation to level 3 before I can go there.
1. Party crasher daily (until the end of the month)
2. Path to 2409 Lore
3. Mining - Just started so skill is rather low. Getting 80 per attempt
4. Borg sector dailies - Random though one day I had 6 of them (different sectors of course). Some days none.
5. Doff missions - Mostly 5 dilithium at a time though. Not enough "high" quality Doff for consistent critical success.
6. Daily mission that awards 1440 dilithiums for exploring - can't remember the mission daily.
7. Foundry Missions - Federation has plenty, but KDF only had 5 or 6
8. Gorn Minefield mission
9. Defend Starbase 24 mission
Dilith is easy to make once u have completed e,g omega rep u just do 3 missions 960 dilith each elite mission plus marks n borg processes that u turn in for dilith. There is a few doff missions as well that give dilith 50-2k. As for ec go to game setting n set it to elite then do a foundry mission n u can get up to 500k in ec from drops.
You should add to the list Eta Eridani -> Traelus System - Sham'ar. Barely 10 minutes and are really smooth missions. Then, in Drozana, i always do my daily foundry mission unholy alliances for the fed (thanks for the creator, good job), it takes me even less than 10 minutes and made in spotlight it awards 1900 dilithium. So, in 25 - 30 minutes y have about 2900 dilithium. If you are a klingon, you should find a short mission in the foundry , and make it your daily.
If one day cryptic fix Nimbus missions, you can make there easily 1700+ dilithium in a short time as well.
Defera - if you already did out in the cold, you can make the full tour on Defera (2400 dilithium). It takes about 20-30 minutes.
Contraband - Use a klingon toon (or romulan klingon allined) to farm contraband. You have there 2000 dilithium every day in the easy way.
These are other options. But its important that you enjoy your dilithium farming tour, otherwise it can be really boring (you can alternate with all the options).
You should add to the list Eta Eridani -> Traelus System - Sham'ar. Barely 10 minutes and are really smooth missions.
Don't forget Alhenna in the same sector block. Not quite as smooth but it gives the same dil as well a deuterium surplus cannisters, handy for large ships.
The only question is what is "ESTF"? I am fairly new to the game and I am also a "lone wolf" meaning I am not part of a fleet and I think I prefer it that way for the moment even if it means I cannot efficiently farm dilithium.
ESTF is Elite Special Task Force. It is the series of "raids" your character does once you reach level 50. These are 5-man missions which most people Queue up for and do with PUGS.
As lan451 stated above, the Dyson Sphere Battlezone also pays out a lot. You can do that several times a day at level 50 and make tons.
It never hurts to slowly upgrade your Doffs as you go along. At this point I do not believe I have any below Blue. The broader the selection and higher quality the better chance you have for getting Critical Success - which make the assignment pay more Dlithium.

3. Mining - Just started so skill is rather low. Getting 80 per attempt
Use your keyboard arrow keys not your mouse to do the mining and you will, if paying attention, get the full whack every time. You need 735 for 200dil and 775 the get the bonus trace.
Also as KDF you should be getting a decent amount of contraband from marauding misions. Turn them in to the security officer in the great hall, 5 at a time, gives 2000 dil.
As with Cosmic on my main characters I don't have any less than blue DOFFs. Some are quite cheap off the exchange. Also there are mission chains that give free DOFFs as do some missions: http://sto.gamepedia.com/Duty_officer/Special
i have two ways of earning 8k or more dil per day depending on what i feel like doing that day
the first one is the dyson battlefield it usually takes about an hour or if i am in a good instance even less (for example today i made about 11k)
the second way is to do the three space borg queues, the ce event, a foundry mission and any other pve i want to do then i convert the omega marks and the processors into dil and i am done
as for the doffing and mining i haven't tried either one so i can't say anything about them
Thanks for all the tips I really appreciate it. It will take me a while before I can do or get around to doing most of them consistently since I am simply exploring different types of missions and aspects of the game for now.
As for Eta Eridani I can't enter that sector without being granted diplomatic immunity (DI). Since I don't plan on joining a fleet (yes, I know it cuts me off from many missions...) I am not sure how to get DI other than advancing my Diplomacy Commendation to level 3. Are there NPCs that grant DI?
With regards to dilithium mining, yes I am using the cursor keys. I managed to get up to 160 dilithium and 3 bonus trace anomalies in a single attempt. However, still have "butterfingers" since I only got 80 a couple of times.
Not sure if I am up for Elite. I am pretty decent in space combat considering I am only using Phasers Mk XI and a Chroniton Mine Launcher Mk XI. But I did snag a Mk XII of the Exchange for only 35k ECs. Too bad it's just one. The next lowest price was 289k. I usually try to go toe to toe with multiple heavy cruisers and a flagship. Unfortunately many times other captains jump in the fray ruining the development of combat tactics, other times my preys simply warp out or cloak when combat goes on for too long. I wish they wouldn't do that..
However, ground combat is not my strong point and it's not a strong point for the game either. I find it rather clunky. I'm used to Mass Effect where combat feels a bit more intuitive and refined (but not perfect).
As for Doffs, I think my 1st priority will be to expand them to 200. I am very close to the 10 mil EC cap now, so I will spend some EC on blue Doffs to keep it below the limit. I suppose I will make increasing the EC cap my next priority. If I am not mistaken, I believe 100 Doff slots cost 750 Zen (97.5k dilithium) and the EC cap extender is 500 Zen (65k dilithium). That means I should be able to expand Doffs before the end of the week and increase the EC limit probably by mid-March.
Eta Eridani is not a restricted Sector. A Fed player gets sent there to visit Deep Space K-7 around level 6 to learn about PvP. It is essential the same for Klingons. Romulans gain access around level 13, IIRC.

Really???
I could have sworn I was denied access to Eta Eridani when I attempted to do a diplomatic mission I received from a NPC in Memory Alpha.
Eta is the PvP sector of the game. It is the "neutral zone" between Klingon space and Federation space. There are a lot of mission that are done in that sector - Dividian Feature Episode series, Nukara, etc.
You get a mission to go to DSK-7 at around level 6. That is around the same level you get the Memory Alpha mission. It is set up that way so you can kill 2 birds with one stone.
I have no idea how you tried to get there. Perhaps you were trying to go through Klingon Space? If that is true then yes, you need Diplomatic Immunity to go that route. Otherwise Eta is directly below Sirius Sector - you get there by going through the bottom of Sirius or bottom of Regulus Sector.

Wait, i thought that mission was broken, the defense contract one. It will never give you computer fragments (or whatever they were called) so you cant make the other mission that gives you the dilithium. I am missing something or is not the same mission?

You will always get particle traces once you reach 700+. Hell, you can even get particle traces if you make even less score.
I can confirm that you can get particle traces (Chroniton???) with a score of less than 700. With a score of something like 400 I got 160 dilithium and 3 particle traces. A score of 295 gave me 120 dilithium and 2 particle traces.

take your time to learn the game and get used to it's various aspects, it took me about 3-4 months to learn about it's content and without knowing about the fora back then. the secret is to keep asking questions
anyway you should jump in elite stf's if you have done a couple of times the normal version of them, then you should know what to do and not fly around like an idiot, i know to a new player the ELITE STF'S sounds scary, hellish, it will give you heart attack etc, they aren't, they are pretty easy, granted in the beginning with the equipment you have you will die easier than others but when you start getting rep stuff everything will become easier to the point you can do them blindfolded.
Another reason to do them on elite is because of the rewards, which are at least double the normal ones and as a result it will take you half the time to finish the rep.
the ground combat kinda sucks because they don't put the same amount of effort on the ground as they do with space, because let's face it we all came here to fly starships etc etc.
and one last join a fleet, there are many great stuff there and all you have to do is contribute in the projects to gain fleet credit

Contraband - Use a klingon toon (or romulan klingon allined) to farm contraband. You have there 2000 dilithium every day in the easy way.
These are other options. But its important that you enjoy your dilithium farming tour, otherwise it can be really boring (you can alternate with all the options).
Don't forget Alhenna in the same sector block. Not quite as smooth but it gives the same dil as well a deuterium surplus cannisters, handy for large ships.
As lan451 stated above, the Dyson Sphere Battlezone also pays out a lot. You can do that several times a day at level 50 and make tons.
It never hurts to slowly upgrade your Doffs as you go along. At this point I do not believe I have any below Blue. The broader the selection and higher quality the better chance you have for getting Critical Success - which make the assignment pay more Dlithium.
Here is a list of Dilithium Missions: http://sto.gamepedia.com/Dilithium
Use your keyboard arrow keys not your mouse to do the mining and you will, if paying attention, get the full whack every time. You need 735 for 200dil and 775 the get the bonus trace.
Also as KDF you should be getting a decent amount of contraband from marauding misions. Turn them in to the security officer in the great hall, 5 at a time, gives 2000 dil.
As with Cosmic on my main characters I don't have any less than blue DOFFs. Some are quite cheap off the exchange. Also there are mission chains that give free DOFFs as do some missions:
http://sto.gamepedia.com/Duty_officer/Special
the first one is the dyson battlefield it usually takes about an hour or if i am in a good instance even less (for example today i made about 11k)
the second way is to do the three space borg queues, the ce event, a foundry mission and any other pve i want to do then i convert the omega marks and the processors into dil and i am done
as for the doffing and mining i haven't tried either one so i can't say anything about them
As for Eta Eridani I can't enter that sector without being granted diplomatic immunity (DI).
Really???
I could have sworn I was denied access to Eta Eridani when I attempted to do a diplomatic mission I received from a NPC in Memory Alpha.
Hmmm.... perhaps. I'll try again tonight.
