This is the type of attitude that perpetuates the stereotype of angry gamers and the so-called console "war". So what if they port to consoles? That's a good thing - more people will play. And cross-console servers? That'd be expensive, but awesome.
Be realistic, this has been done and tried before and even with the help of auto-aim and various server-side tricks to help console gamers along, the games that have done it dealt with no shortage of console players whining because they were getting facerolled by people on the PC.
Did you girlfriend dump you today? You're nastier then usual.
The tread was about DStahl and what he might be doing now. Since BranFlakes had no issues with posting in the thread I am uncertain why you need to take issue with it.
And there is certainly nothing wrong with people speculating as to whether or not STO might follow suit. We did the same thing when CO was announced as going FTP.
ya certainly nothing wrong with ppl asking for a T5 connie to is their so again if this not about sto why is it here in the place called star trek online General Discussion and why i have issue with is i see post more or less like this every day moved for what ever reason but let it talk about something not to do with sto just because it says something about dan that makes it alll ok....................

Again, this thread was about DStahl, who was the EP of STO for nearly 3 years and speculating about what he was working on. The thread then evolved to discuss whether or not STO will go Console like NWN.
And yes, I have no issues with people talking about T5 Connie threads. I am sure I have 100 posts in those threads o over the years.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

lets not lose sight <<was>> being the key word and their have been port this game over to console thread long before dan was even in the pic so i was right in away this is i want my game ported thread it just did not come out right and say it!!!!
...but I have been on X-Box live and they are the most incoherent potty mouthed bunch of gamers I have ever heard.
I can personally guarantee you that ESD zone chat will show you the exact same player dynamics you describe here, more often than not. The amount of trolls that constantly lurk in ESD make me wish that a Moderator was stationed there.
I also think it's highly likely that bigots don't play alien species, by default, for obvious reasons.
Curiously, the players in both the First City on Qo'nos and the Romulan Command Center rarely display such behaviour. That's not to say that it never happens, of course.
Please note that I'm not saying that the actual player base for any given faction is any better or worse behaved than any other. I believe that the Fed faction has the largest player base, and this simply means that the vocal minority (in this case, bigots and other assorted idiots) has enough numbers to appear to be a large presence.
The irony is that it would be canon for KDF and Rommies to behave in this manner. Personally, I am disgusted at the behaviour that is allowed in this game. Try pulling this stunt on Guild Wars 2, for instance, and see how long you last. Of course, then you are playing Guild Wars 2 which I wouldn't wish on anyone.
These are just my thoughts though, I have no actual proof one way or the other.
Back on topic: I think it's great that Neverwinter is going to console, I am happy for Cryptic. I'm curious to know what, if anything, they will do about the Foundry.
Since the studio that became cryptic north worked on pirates of the burning sea I can see cryptic wanting to capitalize on that experience. My personal opinion is that Stal is working on an age of sail / pirate mmo. The ship mechanics from sto would lend itself to that genre of game and having someone well versed in that system would help speed up development.
I'll simply say that, if we were working on such a game, I likely wouldn't be working on STO. . .
I would figure if it was STO related it would be about the shard idea Stahl expressed awhile back. The one for like having seperate shards for different things like for example mirror universe, delta quadrant, gamma quadrant etc.
Their marketing tactic would be you can transwarp there for free but will cost you 500 zen to come back to the alpha quadrant.
My guess would be he is either working on something for iOS/Android or as others have mentioned for the consoles. And I'd guess it has to do with Arc.
Brandon has already confirmed he is not working on the Gaming Console system for NWNs. The indication is that he is working on a new game of some type.

so thats where stahl is hiding himself after that crock he created on sto called season 8? i wonder how hes gonna fare over there, they need crazy ideas to port these games across i would imagine. hes better off there destroying a port vesion then he is on sto anyways... assuming of course.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
However, a single player RPG using the STO engine might be fun.
Something along the lines of the original Dragon Age perhaps?
doubtful.... PWE/PWI is in the F2P (or P2W whichever floats your boat) MMO business, Cryptic makes MMOS, all their games have been MMOS, they will never make a single player game.
The biggest complaint I've seen about the newer Trek movies (besides the lens flares and some folks who just can't stomach Abrams for reasons they can't seem to articulate) is that the stories are all pewpew explosions, without the deeper exploration and internal conflict storylines we're more familiar with from the various series. (This, of course, leaves out the fact that the only Trek movies that have been successful have also been pewpew explosionfests, but let's leave that aside for now.)
So, jump into STO, and what are your missions? Go there, shoot them, collect goodies.

The JJ verse Star Trek game underperformed significantly and Into Darkness underperformed SOME.
I could see the expansion this year being an "Expanshalone" set in the JJverse, licensed by Paramount, and using an improved version of the STO engine.
Cryptic was burned by the Expanshalone concept some with City of Villains but that was when they required two sub fees (and when every retail box included a month of gametime, meaning discount retail boxes cost them revenuie).
It's different with F2P.
Some JJ film assets exist in STO's files. Cryptic has coordinated with Paramount. CBS gets a cut of Paramount/JJverse properties and might have been willing to negotiate or play middleman on getting Cryptic and Paramount hooked up.
Stahl would make sense to lead that team.
And much like the NW expensive packs had benefits back in STO, I could see a JJverse game being able to do something similar.
AND it gets STO players playing a separate game with no lifetime stipends.
And like CoV/CoH, you might have crossover areas where players of the two games can interact.
Also, while Cryptic coordinated with Paramount through CBS before, I had a sneaking supicion there was more coordination opening up when they introduced the Narada-ish Borgified Tal Shiar ships.
Consider a $150 Nvidia card already beats the GPU in the Xbox One and PS4, your opinion would be a highly uneducated one. Nor do you seen to have much experience with the average console gamer. If you deny that the Neverwinter player base is not already garbage then you have never, ever played it.
Excuse me, but I'm a console gamer, as are several of my friends. We are NOT the juvenile delinquents you are stereotyping us as.
Now that I've got that out of my system...
Has everybody forgotten that DCUO is on Console? That's done fairly well. I can't speak for the community, but it seems to have survived the port to console fairly well.
As does Final Fantasy XIV, which already has PC and PS3 (and, soon, PS4) players on the same servers.
It may be that Microsoft doesn't allow PC and console users to play together (IIRC, that was the reason for Phantasy Star Universe having separate 360 servers), but Sony obviously does.

This actually makes a frightening amount of sense.
I'm not sure whether to hope for the possibility or dread it, mind you, but I can see it happening.

Moving On Parts 1-3 - Part 4
In Cold Blood
DC Universe Online disagrees with you.
